What's One Great Mystery You'd Want to Solve?

Not a great mystery but I watch The Curse of Oak Island. Is there anything really there? Or are those poor people wasting their time and money?

Poor people ? Those guys are making money hand over fist looking for that 'loot' . Paid by the sponsers , who's products are bought by the people that waste their time watching that show.

What really happened to Amelia Harhart?
Did she survive on an isolated island?
Was she really on a 'Spy' mission to record the Japanese build-up in the Pacific, as thought?

On a science theme, what is 'Dark Matter'? keep hearing it makes up 98% of the Universe,
but scientist don't have a clue what it is!
(sorry, that's two)

So many mysteries out there.
Amelia Earhart…Many people that study aviation history believe that they flew into a long line of very strong headwinds. Being out over the Pacific, there really was nowhere to land. Fighting to get through these headwinds used up a lot of fuel in such a lightweight plane. Most likely, they ran out of fuel and crashed into the ocean. It’s a very plausible reason, but because no evidence of a breakup was found, it was never proven. This mystery will never be solved, unless someone decides to do an underwater exploration like they did when they found the Titanic.

Were Mary and Mary Magdalene the same person?

No they were not the same person. There are six Mary's mentioned in the Bible.

There was Mary the mother of Jesus, daughter of Heli (Luke 3:23), cousin of Elizabeth the mother of John the Baptizer (Luke 1:36).

There was Mary the sister of Martha and Lazarus who lived in Bethany (Luke 10:38,39).

Then there was “the other Mary” wife of Clopas and mother of James the Less and Joses (Matthew 27:56).

There was Mary the mother of John Mark and aunt of Barnabas (Acts 12:12: Colossians 4:10).

Next there was the Mary of Rome who was sent greetings by Paul in his letter to the Romans (Romans 16:6).

Finally there was Mary Magdalene also referred to as Mary the so-called Magdalene by Luke. At Jesus death she was said to be among the women who were watching him from viewing distance as hung on the torture stake. She was with Jesus’ mother Mary, Salome, and also the “other Mary” (John 19:25).

I don't think I'm buying anything but I'm watching the show. :D

By poor, I guess I mainly meant, what a waste if there is nothing actually there.

Part of what makes it so strange is the fact that , as per the Itasca , they know almost exactally where they lost contact . Which [as i read it] means they know almost exactally where she would have crashed ??

LOL ... My mother always said Earhart & Noonan eloped.

That’s another issue I thought about. They know where she took off from, but how do they know exactly where they lost contact? To the best of my knowledge, I don’t believe there were any towers in that area back then and the only way communications were established was by using other planes to relay information. That’s the way they did it back in the days before we had so many towers erected.

But didn't the Itasca say someting about the weather being as it was , for them to hear her .... she almost had to be directly above them For a time ? And with the fuel amount she had left ... she couldn't have flown much farther.

As I recall, the problem was she couldn't hear them.
