What are you doing today 2023

I have spent the morning shuffling around my bank accounts, trying to put dribs and drabs into one account, sheesh, you would think it would add up to more. We may not be getting our government pensions this month so the reason for the shuffle.

Today we are going grocery shopping in China town for speciality items for future meals. The cold stuff will be put in a styrofoam container. Then its time for lunch of a champagne brunch at the Palms. Then see what the slot machines have in store this time. Last sunday & again Wednesday they were good to us.

It been raining most of today but ive been out and walked the dog in it , we stopped at a cafe and had Tea and slice of cake , when I got back I had to get the dog in the shower to get her clean , she actually likes nothing better than going in the muddiest puddles .
I took my Camera with me and was annoyed at myself to find the Battery flat , I must have left it on last time I used it .

There was lots of Blossom Trees where I went , guess they will be all gone next time I go that way .

You could be right, hope so, but they did say things would be late and I have auto bill payments on the first. Likely the essential workers will make sure they are late :D
That wouldn’t be wise. The strikers don’t have a lot of support as it is, IMO. Part of the strike is because some will be expected to come into work 2 days per week. Though that’s probably not totally accurate as the media cherry picks info.

I was just listening to music on youtube and a post came up about Dolly Parton saying she just passed away today. I hope and pray that they are wrong.
"However the April 2023 report has now been confirmed as a complete hoax and just the latest in a string of fake celebrity death reports. Thankfully, the singer best known for hit songs like 9 to 5, I Will Always Love You or Jolene is alive and well."

What? Is this OAS, CPP, or government employee pension? I googled but found nothing. I had been thinking of leaving a certain amount in one bank account just in case. I guess I'll be shuffling money today too.

I've been chosen to lead the next book club meeting. I feel it would be worthwhile to offer some questions that people can keep in mind while they're reading. (Otherwise it can be hard to make sense of the "sea of words.") This means I need to carefully read the material and some background material. I started that yesterday, and will continue today.

Exercise for sure. Maybe laundry. Enjoy the beautiful sunny day. Talk to language partner this evening, then read in bed.

My book club is mostly a social group. We talk a bit about the books (average 4-5 a month), saying which ones we liked or didn't, and why, but mostly catch up with each other's lives and enjoy a nice dinner and evening together. We also veer off into what Netflix and other streaming movies/shows we're enjoying.

NorthernLight, it is OAS and CPP that might be late. Google PSAC or cra strike
Thank you. I did see a headline about a strike, but didn't put 2 and 2 together.

Ours is a nonfiction book club. The organizer likes heavy tomes, e.g., old philosophers. I think the rest of us would be happier with popular, recent nonfiction books, and tend to see it more as a social outlet.

A very pleasant day. 68 and sunny with no wind. Yay.

Sir was off today so it was left to me to "train" Newest Hire. Thank heaven she doesn't need much training. It was nice to leave at 11. That last hour between 11 and 12 was about to do me in!

I didn't hear any distress calls while I worked in the garden but assumed that y'all knew that you could find me there if you needed me. Got lots more weeding done...maybe a third? That leaves 2/3. Daunting to say the least.

And DD told me about somebody on the gardening thread she visits on FB. Instead of laying old newspapers down and covering them with mulch to prevent weeds, they use cardboard. Brilliant. Since we recycle at the store, I asked if anybody cared if I took the broken down boxes. Nope. So I took all that we had from the bakery when I left this morning. Gonna foil those darned weeds because I'm just too old and tired to do this every spring (and all summer long as well!). I'd rather plant and admire flowers.

Tomorrow's a day off. More weeding. More pleasant weather. Yay.
