A certain lovely lady from over the road was chucking out an electric clothes iron, she said that it still worked but the flex-cable was broken, so I said to her, "Give it here and I'll put a new flex on it."

She told me to bin it because she had bought a new iron.

Yesterday, I put a new flex on it and it works, so today, I'm going to do something I've never done before, I'm going to iron all my shirts and underwear.

Perhaps the lovely lady from across the road will now stop saying that I look like a 'raggamuffin' in my unironed shirts. ☺️

Dare I ask why you're ironing your underwear? ....lol..don't answer that question

Today after my house cleaning chores are done I might take a walk outside. Even though it is hot, I need to take my garbage out and if I have walked that far, may as well go farther. The other day, I put my garbage bag outside my door and when I opened my door to take it out, it was gone! Somebody did it for me! I don't know who but I suspect it was the maintenance man who doesn't usually do that.

I must be busy…..the days are just gone.
Yesterday, did a Walmart trip, my routine seems to be every second week there.
Tuesday, did the Sobeys thing.
All our usual walks of course.

Started raining just as it was time for Mickis jobs, we went anyway, but no walk yet, Micki wasn’t impressed…..as soon as the rain stops we’ll go, not supposed to be an all day thing……clearing a bit now.

Doing a couple loads of laundry……did I mention…..I have to use my little one step stool, to get to the bottom of the washer to get some things out. 🥴🙃😉🥴……REALLY…..I DO. 🥴🥴🥴.

I’m getting my routine in order……can hardly believe that it will be 4 weeks on Monday since I moved here.

Life continues to be good in the neighbourhood.😊☺️😊.

@OneEyedDiva: I enjoyed your report and the pictures. It is nice to get away from my own life for a few moments! One comment though, because my hearing is really bad I watch my TV with headphones on! That way I can have it as loud as I wish without disturbing the neighbours. I have four tablets in the house but have never watched a show on any of them. The picture is just too small for me to enjoy anything but books on them. What a waste of all that computing power! My daughter can actually enjoy YouTube on her iPhone!
I know...these young people watch stuff and do everything on their phones. My son watches all kinds of videos and does Facebook on his phone. I can't do it. I don't mind watching certain things on my tablet because I love the clarity. I do not watch movies unless I'm planning to fast forward through the ones that are too slow moving. If I've invested some time, I do like to see how the movie ends and FF on the tablet is easier. It's nice of you to be so considerate of your neighbors. My husband had gotten hard of hearing and he'd have the T.V. blasting, sometimes in the middle of the night. I was concerned that it might be disturbing to our neighbors. At the time our Roku had a earphone jack in the remote so I hooked him up with that.

Morning all.....it is hot as hades out there again, and rather steamy in this
old house too.....not doing much today, feel a bit better than yesterday,
did sleep a bit better too....I do need to call the eyeglass place cause they
aint working for me, something off about the bifocal, and also the way
they fit....got ants coming in the house now, that always happens when it
gets dry outside, we have not had a decent rain in many days now...tv still
sitting in the box it came in, no hurry on it..so that's my world for today...
Take care all......

Went swimming and got drenched upon exiting pool centre.

Picked up sliced cheddar for sandwiches and bags of grated cheddar for soups, lasagna, spag bowl and more. As stomachs are full of knots due to anxiety, we'll dine on grill cheese and gammon sandwiches or just onion soup with a full bag of cheese. Yup, it's comfort food time!

Today I am trying to see what channel and time "It's Always Sunny in Philly "comes on.
I had forgotten all about the show. Rob McElhenny is the star of the show and my Brother-in-laws's nephew. His Mom is my bother-in-laws sister. My Brother-in-law stopped talking to his sister when
he found out she was gay. I told him he was stupid and he finally made up with her. She had Rob a few days before I had my daughter.

Every time my daughter is over for a few hours of company and TV watching we have to watch without headphones. I am always nervous about the neighbours complaining, but I guess we aren't that loud ... yet! Give it time!

One thing I forgot to mention and would be interested to know: How many of you are now watching your shows and movies with close captioning on! I am sticking with streaming for that reason because most of their fare is CC'd! For some reason my basic cable's CC is too large (even when set to small) and intrusive, so, except for the news and Jeopardy I don't watch it and usually go straight to streaming!

Tomorrow have an appointment for brake service on my 2007 Forester but today brought the car down to a rare automotive steam cleaning service I've used a few times over the decades that cost $140 for just the engine. Next week will bring the car in to the dealer for major periodic servicing so wanted my engine clean before they had to work on it. Below is before and above after. High pressure 100 psi steam does an amazing job. This spring had driven a few dozen miles on very dusty roads that was on top of a few years of oily grime.

Looks amazing for a sixteen year old car! In the fifties cars would start to rost after a couple of years!

Can't seem to sleep soundly this past night. I was up at 4am from 1am. Then again from 5am till 7am.

All the stress I'm having isn't helping.

  1. The Energy Crisis, still no news after 4 years
  2. My husband's estate, still no news, over a year now
  3. My father's estate after 49 years, nothing yet.

At least we'll be going out for swim and shopping, in order to relax. Wish me luck! Thanks...
I sympathize in connection with your disturbed sleep and items 2 and 3, but don't understand "The Energy Crisis." Are you talking about personal listlessness, @Supernatural ? If you don't mind sharing!

re: Harkdon's post on leg cramps I use to wake @ 3 am with leg cramps. Started taking a calcium supplement in addition to consuming more milk - the cramps were banished. I haven't had leg cramps for 10 years (it was cramps 3 or 4 times/ a week at 3 am!!)

why did you get drenched..was it raining ? what's wrong Supernatural why are you anxious today..hope you don't mind me asking..

It's going to be 100-104F for the next week+, has been that for the past week too (10-14 deg above normal). I'll get errands done by 10am, like the grocery store in a bit (it's 7:30am here now). I had the full house refrigerated A/C replaced in 2020, so it's nice at home.
it's very hot in Europe currently.. up to 47 or 48 degrees ( 116 deg f), in Italy, Spain etc... lots of people having heatstroke.. usually we will get it soon after Europe gets it.. perhaps not as hot, but certainly much hotter than it would usually be .. but I'm delighted to hear the forecasters say it isn't coming our way this time... yeaaaah....
