Talking about ironing... Urgh! Every weekend afternoons were spent at the laundry shop. Where I learned wordsearch and crossword puzzles. Then Sunday after church, it was in iron out and everything got ironed. Yuck!

If I had cotton pants that creased after washing and drying, I stuck them between mattress and box. A doddle...

My current iron gets used and abused for one thing only "Craft Projects". Such as applied patterns to blank t-shirts and various appliqués on clothing such as double flags.

Without her knowing it, she gave you what turned out to be a good iron.

I very seldom, if ever iron.
My iron sits on our ironing board- downstairs in our unfinished basement.
It still works.
She knew it worked, but it was old and she wanted a new one, I'm happy with her old one..... and all my shirts now look like new. ☺️

I rarely iron anything either now.. not that I wear un-ironed clothes, I just buy clothes now that don't need ironing after being in the tumble dryer. I do have a big aversion to clothes which are creased...

All that said I did get the iron out the other day..for the first time in about a year, to iron some blouses..
Well, if old Tim can iron his clobber, so can you. ☺️

This reminded me of years ago when I had to iron 15 shirts a week. 5 FOR MY SON AND 5 for my daughter and 5 for my husband. I did my kids one day and then on a different day, I did my husband's. His took more time because he was a fanatic.

I don't know why they think the music needs to be so loud! I stopped watching a series because it just got to be too annoying.
As an aside, I started to watch an interesting series a couple of days ago but stopped in episode 3 or thereabouts, because the background music was always rap/hip-hop! I have never despised any sort of "musical" expression before rap came along and after 40 years I still hate it! Didn't I say this before? :)

it's very hot in Europe currently.. up to 47 or 48 degrees ( 116 deg f), in Italy, Spain etc... lots of people having heatstroke.. usually we will get it soon after Europe gets it.. perhaps not as hot, but certainly much hotter than it would usually be .. but I'm delighted to hear the forecasters say it isn't coming our way this time... yeaaaah....
Poor Europe! And here I thought we were suffering from 31 degrees! This is absolutely cool compared to Italy and Spain! I just hope they won't have those devastating fires along with the heat this year!

To my American friends: No, at 31 degrees we are not suffering from frost bite, you should have joined us in changing to Celsius while you had a chance! <hastily added, just harmless teasing>

My son and his partner (his BFF, my honorary son (HS), produced some rap songs in our home studio that I bet you could tolerate, if not outright like. They recorded positive rap. At the time (about 32 years ago), record company moguls didn't want that...they wanted to promote "Gangsta rap" and that hard core stuff. I learned to appreciate much of the Rap music via my son and his love for Hip Hop. Some I really like. My HS recorded a song he wrote called Ms. Sabrina. It's more a sing-song-y poem set to music, or soft rap.

“Well Hello Ms Sabrina; been a while since I saw you pass my way, hope you have a good day,
People don't know you exist, well it doesn't really matter cause…
You've been here since...ummm 1925 or 6, Now we have a chance to chat for a bit
A senior citizen, a better one there's never been, even though now and then you can really show them,
The proper way to life is to educate, once this microwave age takes time to meditate
Although Ms Sabrina, if it was up to me I'd like to see how this world would be
If we treated our elders with respect, instead of shovin' ‘em in the corners so they can collect dust,
The younger generation is cruel, plus they’re missin’ out on the best schools,
But to educate the mind when they think they know the call is to try to lead the blind when he swears he sees it all,
The shame, missing the history and once you pass on what you know will be a mystery,
So at this time, if you wish, you can pass me a fat dish of my food,
And tell me the golden rule, ‘cause I see what’s up, I’m not blind,
We say “for all mankind” but the man is not kind, sooo…
Tell me Ms Sabrina, what’s been up since I seen ya?

She said “Now son, your life has just begun, so don’t try to be the one
To win the way the west was won,
The days of the heroes are gone, so I put my head to the ground and move on,
They try to get rid of me…I might be the epitome…of life,
Since I suffer from old age, they treat me like the plague,
You know I’m really glad I’m not a friend of them kids, they should learn to
treat the elders like the Indians did,
They have respect and it shows; they idolize the old,
They know the way to pave the future is to have the past told,
But these kids of today..they don’t really care, they just think I’m in the way,

I said, Well Ms Sabrina, I can understand your frustration and stuff,
Cause this world is kinda rough, but give us kids half a chance,
We’re not all bad and we’re willing to enhance…our future,
So please Ms Sabrina, take a chance on us, I can’t plan for much,
if we don’t keep in touch,
She said, well…okay, let's try it your way, but I’m hesitant to say
It will have to be another day
Because plans of my own have been made that can’t be deleted, altered or delayed,
So I said Cool Ms Sabrina, we can chat a bit when you have the time to sit,
right now you gotta split,
So I’ll let you go, check you later; and I really know you can make tomorrow
much greater,

But as Ms Sabrina got on the bus for midtown, she never returned,
I found out about a week later she had completed her life cycle,
Damn! My loss! Cause she was out.”

The words not italicized indicate he went into somber narrator mode rather than sing song-y rap mode. For the music, my son used a sample part of the rhythm guitar track and drums from this song and it came together nicely. This is one of my favorite oldies...not rap. :D In fact, it tugs at my heart strings. 🎶🎵 i notice it was posted by the Vietnam War Song Project.

~Revised my beneficiary designations and updated my coinciding, color coded spreadsheets to reflect the changes. It was a process, but using Schwab.com, it is so easy to make those changes.
~Put away the rest of the laundry.
~Napped for a good part of the daylight hours.

~I spent a good bit of time on SF. In fact I got engrossed on here that time slipped past me. It's now almost 1:00 a.m. so technically the above list is what I did yesterday! I can't believe it's tomorrow already!

I must say I am quite fond of the lyrics, they are poignant and beautiful, OED. But it's also the swaying and finger snapping that goes with them that tends to drive me crazy! And the rhythm of a record being tortured to death!

But I confess, that's intolerance on my part. Plain and simple! Same as I watch young people dance, that's not dancing! That's swaying to a beat with your arms up!

Help, I turned into a curmudgeon without realizing it. And here I was so pleased with myself for keeping up with the times! :(

Visiting my wife this AM and then staying inside with the A/C cranked up!!!

Music. Grrrrr. Why do these shows think we want it so loud that it overpowers what’s being said. Often I FF the beginning just to get past it.
Yes! I always have keep the remote close by so I can mute it during commercials and turn the sound down if the movie has music in it. I swear, some YouTube videos have such loud music I can't hear the person talk. I am constantly turning the volume up and down through whatever I am watching.

Today after my morning walk I have to go to the store on "Jazzy" (mobility chair). I have avoided going outside most of the summer due to the smoke from those wild fires. So much for my plan to spend an hour a day in the sunshine this summer for my immune system. Right now I am processing the Essiac tea that has been steeping and extracting all night. I will put it in canning jars and store in the bottom back of the refrigerator. After I come back from the store I will work on my blog for a couple of hours and then maybe........if I feel like it, will mop my kitchen and bathroom floors (which takes a whole 5 minutes at the most!).

Have a good day everyone!

I wasn't familiar with positive rap. I learned something new today. I like the message this one brings of bridging generations and respect for elders. Very cool.

I better get to moving,, the fog is 'burning off".
Got one pot of flowers that I better get planted, before it gets warmer.

On another note I placed an ad to sell my husband's old tractors,, so far have got some calls about them!

The down side is he's off working .
IF anyone shows up to look at them I have No Idea about the tractors..
Questions will be asked that I probably can't answer.
