What are you listening to in 2023?

Thank you again for your compliment about my honorary son's lyric. I have the MP3 (provided by my son) but they never released the song. I ain't mad at you because you don't like rap...you are certainly not alone. But not only Rolling Stone, but the great Quincy Jones embraced Rap and included it in at least one of his songs. He has a knack for bringing artists of different genres together for a project. Don't worry...we still have a lot in common. :D

I thought I didn't like Opera...until I heard this song. My son and I saw The Fifth Element in the theater and I knew I had to have the soundtrack because I like all the songs. This is one of my favorites. Inva Mula's range is incredible! She is an Albania Opera singer, as were her parents. It was originally thought that no human could perform this song. BTW...that was the most $$ I ever paid for a CD.

Love it! (and the movie) More than cool jazz. :) Opera is my pop music since I grew up with it listening to an old gramophone, that you had to crank by hand, to all the records my father had collected. We had Mozart, Wagner, Verdi, Rossini, Puccini and it is still my favourite genre. As is most classical music! The following, from the Magic Flute by Mozart, is considered to be the most difficult aria for a Soprano to sing! Give it a chance!

While serving in Army in 1961, Jimi met Billy Cox (Bass Player) and after being discharged, they moved to Nashville.
They played gigs for a while, then Jimi was off to the big city of New York.
In 1969, Billy once again joined up with Jimi in his band 'Band of Gypsys'. (with Buddy Miles on Drums)

I listened to YouTubes' "Newly Released" stuff and came across this the 2nd song on the list. I guess the release of the BLOCKBUSTER movie is this weekend "Barbie". What's the deal with using that ancient toy to make a modern statement/entertainment? I don't get it. What is the appeal? anyway to add to this new Phenom...

I am still going over old stuff from my past.

A current favourite is Steve Hacket: Genesis Revisited - Live at the Albert Hall.

Also Marillion: Misplaced Childhood. Went through a spell of reprising Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here.

I'm not a big Genesis fan but I do own "Selling England..." album which is great.

Marillion's Misplaced Childhood is another favorite along with Clutching At Straws.

And Pink Floyd 's "Wish..." has some memorable lyrics.

Steve Hackett's live shows are awesome. I like the tall guy who stands in for Peter Gabriel. Perfect replacement.
