Weight Loss Accountability/Support Group Thread

@PeppermintPatty That's a gorgeous area. I wanted to go walking around here where there is water until I read about the tick problem. So I just walk to the fake lakes near by. Are there people around when you walk. You need to be safe.

And that's long walking. I don't think I'd do that far.
Thanks Remy, it really is a lovely walk. Today I was going to walk somewhere different but it was all sunny with minimum shade and it was up to 27 today so I took them here instead. There plenty of places they can go in the water, get wet and have a drink of cold water.

Itโ€™s also a dense forest that drops in elevation, making it a fairly cool walk even on hot days. Itโ€™s also not a favourable environment for ticks but I do have this tick spray and just this morning put their new collars. They donโ€™t seem to mind then and they smell nice.

Today I walked past a really nice couple with a newborn baby. I was going to put my dogs on a leash and they said not to worry.

Later on I met another couple with a big pit Bull type dog put my dogs on their leashes until we were past. The other day we met a mom and 3 kids who wanted to pet the dogs. This is mid summer though so busier than than the other seasons but I like meeting others.

Lyme Disease from ticks is a problem here, too... but more recently we have a local problem with West Nile cases from mosquitoes. I still walk but it's not as enjoyable as it had been... at least not until it gets colder again.

What are the fake lakes like? Do they have nice paths around them? Do you have a dog ?

The Lose It app has a free version, which has almost everything necessary in it. If you want more in-depth information and charting fasting, then they have a deluxe version, and will usually offer it for half price if you do not buy the full price version.
I hate writing down all of that stuff and could NEVER keep a food diary, but it is easier for me to do with the app. You can make recipes for foods you eat a lot and then just list that like โ€œmy tuna saladโ€ or whatever so you do not have to put in all of the ingredients every time you have the tuna salad. (Or whatever)
It helps me a lot when I do this, and is basically the same thing you would be doing by posting food here on the forum. Here is an idea of what the dashboard shows me for information, but it also tells me vitamins and minerals in the meals i eat, which are added to my Apple Health app each day.

May I ask what is the name of the app you use? Thank you.

Hi, @Ruthanne ! The name of the food tracking app that i use is called โ€œLose Itโ€. There is a free version where you can track all of your food easily each day, and also count anything like carbs, calories, etc. The premium version (about $30 a year) also allows you to track more nutrients as well as stuff like water drinking, intermittent fasting and more. For me, it is worth it to have the premium version, and when they offered it for half price after i started using the free version and didnโ€™t pay full price; so I have the premium one.
You can have lists of favorite foods as well as make recipes so you can easily add meals that you have often. It gives you a list of foods that you usually eat for that meal, too.
I have coffee almost every morning, so I do not even have to look it up, it just shows it as a likely choice. The app is really easy to use, and you can try the free version and see if you like it.

Thank you for all your information. I'll have a look at it. Sooner or later I need to do something,.๐Ÿ˜ณ

Today I had a coffee with 1/2 tsp. honey & evaporated milk

3 rice cakes with cream cheese & bake - apple ( cloud berry ) jam.

1 3/4 litre flavoured water

Steak with salad ( raspberry vinaigrette) and air fried potatoes
IMG_0727.jpeg

Kirkland Multiple vitamin vitamin
Kirkland Atlantic Salmon Oil
2 caps of Coryceps Mushroom Powder

Exercise - 3.8 kilometres walking outside
- 1 mile on treadmill

Total miles - 3.36

Goal - a minimum of 3 miles a day

There are a few members in their 70โ€™s and 80โ€™s doing 3 plus miles a day. Iโ€™m not even 65 so I should be able to easily do this and have decided I will.

Tomorrow Iโ€™m adding light weight lifting.
Iโ€™ve moved some of the equipment upstairs already

Look at you go! I admire your goal-setting, Patty. My goal for treadmill/walking when my knee is finally finished healing, will probably start with a mile and a half... even that kind of scares me. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Your food choices/meals always look great, too. @PeppermintPatty

Breakfast for me today was oatmeal and 40 calorie Schmidt's 647 bread, toasted. (240 kcal)
Lunch was two small turkey pinwheels and half a banana. (260 kcal)
Dinner was a soft-shell taco stuffed with lettuce, home-grown garden tomatoes, fiesta cheese, a little seasoned taco meat, and pineapple salsa. (no idea, but it's feeling like around 400)
Dinner dessert was a small slice of strawberry cheesecake (280 according to the package)
-----------> Total for day: 1180... perfect for me and definitely within my goal and a little less if my taco was under 400.

I kind of like this idea of accountability but I realize that I'll also have to come clean on the days that I *dont'* stay within goal. ๐Ÿ˜Š At least when I get the green light to do the treadmill again, I can burn off some excess on the days I'm naughty!

Thank you. Iโ€™m determined to do this.
Iโ€™ve given myself too many excuses for not losing the weight. Yes Iโ€™ve got an untreated low thyroid condition but I do know how to treat it so will. That will increase my metabolism. Increasing my muscle tone will also increase my metabolism. On top of that, additional exercise will increase my natural mood boosters - dopamine - serotonins - endorphins etc which I could really use and exercise will help with my joint pain . With less weight to carry, it will also help lessen joint pain. Iโ€™m at the point of giving myself the kick in the butt that I need. No more excuses.

Did you have a knee replacement or injury your knee? What happened?

Just for inspiration-

I finally hit 40 pounds lost today from a 42 jeans to a 32 just by cutting back on the amount of food intake. I just do not have the appetite I used to since my surgery. My new 42 jeans just fall off me, I am still dropping pounds here. All this was not planned but I am so glad for it.
(y)๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿป๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ†๐ŸŽŠ This is great to hear, @Wayne ! Celebrating with you for the weight loss. Editing here to say that I looked back over old posts and see that it was leg surgery... I hope that's healing well for you!

My new 42 jeans just fall off me, I am still dropping pounds here. All this was not planned but I am so glad for it. My surgery date was 4/6/23. I had Physical-therapy several days a week and in facility almost every day after surgery 6 hrs from 0700 -1400 time frame every day but 1. Then to a gym 3 days a week and just got back home from it and doubled my time there non stop while there. Started on my back muscles today with 100 LBS weight. I have never done anything like this before. I have plans to go back Wednesday and Friday this week for more workouts.

I responded to this when you posted a few days ago, @Wayne ... I'll re-paste in case you didn't see it.

๐Ÿ‘ You're doing GREAT, Patty! A pound in a week is really good... if we dump it too fast, there's not as much chance that it will stay off... so you're doing it exactly right! Toast with sparkling water. ๐Ÿฅ‚

Haha. I thought I saw this exact same post the other day. Double post from both of you did my head in. Lol
