Weight Loss Accountability/Support Group Thread

Sorry if you've already answered this, but what schedule of intermittent fasting are you doing? I'm currently on 16/8, which is comfortable. There was a time I was doing 19/5, which only caused me to overeat in the window.
I can do an 16/8 intermittent fast without any real hardship, as long as I have a physical activity going in the fasting' window to suppress my appetite. I need to do this.

I'm finding calorie counting and intermittent fasting a bit exhausting, but trying to adjust slowly, less counting, more healthy choices and focus on the intermittent fasting. It's hard not to count, though; it gives me a sense of control that I'm scared to give up, though I've lost weight without counting calories before.
Since 2018 I've been counting calories with MyFitnessPal app, during my big weight loss period it was successful. However, in the present my weight has crept up by first 5 and now 10 pounds from where I want to weigh. Time to get back to intermittent fasting.

Several years ago, I did 5/20 intermittent fasting for two years. I was vegan and visited the gym at least 4 times a week, but my weight was starting to creep up anyway. My window was too small, causing overeating and, being a vegan, I ate a lot of carbs.

Now I'm trying intermittent fasting and calorie counting, but in truth, I'm not sure this is sustainable for life. I'd like to go back to good choices and intermittent fasting, but I'm terrified of gaining more weight. Honestly, I need to work this out in therapy, I think.

I agree that 16/8 is comfortably doable. Last time, a few years ago, I was calorie counting I used an app called, SparkPeople. Now I'm just keeping a running total on my phone's calculator each day.

I've looked into MyFitnessPal and it seems a good app. I'm just not feeling up to recording what I'm eating right now and am doing just the numbers. Although, maybe that would be a good transition, recording what I'm eating instead of numbers. I don't know. Ugh. Sorry for the ramble. Sheesh. lol

Surveyed potatoes? I eat a lot of sweet potatoes. Peeled, cubed, salt/chilli powder/A bit of olive oil and about 12 minutes at 350F and an additional 5 minutes at 425F in the airfryer. Dill/horseradish/full fat yoghurt dip. It takes care of my need for sweets during the week.

New to me. Thanks.

K, so I've changed my approach dramatically. Instead of being focused on a maximum number of calories (1200/1400) in total, including coffee and snacks, I am now eating a minimum of 1200 calories of nutritious foods only. Coffee and snacks don't count toward the goal.

My focus with exercise is now aimed at building muscle, strengthening bones and joints, whereas previously it was all about burning body fat.

I am envisioning building a sort of Terminator-like muscular/skeletal frame. ;)

I am loving this, so far, and feeling so much better about my eating and exercise, overall.

I’m planning to be more mindful about the calorie count of what I’m eating. In fact I want a plan for what I will eat each day with a calorie count that is familiar to me.

Currently I’ve been snacking to much and I feel fat. Also our good scales had disappeared under Lia’s stacks of boxes so it was nuisance to actually use. But I dug it out and moved it to a better location now and discovered I am at 200 pounds. Yikes!

My size large shirts are straining at the buttons around my middle. My low since retiring about 8 years ago was 184 pounds after having crept up to 235 pounds while I still was teaching. I would be more comfortable at a weight in the mid 180s but no more than 190.

This is something I dread doing again but the status quo is not cutting it so .. I know I can lose 2 lbs/week on 1900 calories a day. I know what it takes but it isn’t any fun.

Anyone else still in weight loss mode?
