2023 - How's the Weather Where You Are?

It was considerably cooler last night. When I arose this morning, the thermostat temp indicator said 65F in the house. It hasn't been that cool since back in May. However, a heat wave is predicted for later in the week. (another one?!?!?)

We got hit with Fiona last year but weren’t affected by the fires. At the moment we are getting hit with substantial rainfalls. In the last 2 days we are receiving up to 100 ml of rain. Bridges are being washed away and 4 people are missing. People were warned not to drive and did anyway and some got washed away down the rivers.
The HRM got up to 185mm of rain over a two day period! Bedford was really flooded. I haven't looked at the latest news yet, but sure hope the four missing people were found. Two of them are apparently children! That's always an extra heartbreak!

Nice today only going to be 108 max, but the humidity at 1 p/m is going to be brutal at 21%

My daughter is fine, PP. They got some water in their basement apartment but their street wasn't flooded like so many others! They are situated in a higher location!
Good to read Old Salt. I watched that video you added and it looked horrendous. We are also on very elevated ground so the water just runs downhill.

That’s a crazy amount of water. I haven’t looked at the news either. My husband does and blurts out the info whether I want to hear it or not. I had no idea that 2 of them are children. How did you learn that ? That’s very sad news indeed. I hope you’re ok in NB.

I heard about the missing children on the CTV evening news, PP! I hear they were in one of the flooded cars, two escaped from it, so I assume the worst, all along hoping that I am wrong! We in South-Eastern New Brunswick didn't get any inclement weather at all, winds were a bit gusty and we had some light showers, that was about it! I had no idea how desperate things were just a couple of hundred kilometers to the east of us until my daughter told me about the flooding!

I just found this on the CTV News page:

Updated July 23, 2023 11:18 a.m. ADT
Published July 22, 2023 4:09 p.m. ADT

Two children were among four people reported missing Saturday after a long procession of intense thunderstorms dumped record amounts of rain across a wide swath of Nova Scotia, washing away roads and bridges amid widespread flooding.
The children were with three other people in a car in West Hants -- a largely rural municipality northwest of Halifax -- when the vehicle got stuck in floodwaters, RCMP spokeswoman Cindy Bayers said in an interview. The three other occupants managed to escape, but the Mounties declined to release more information.

Well the guy I live with continuously watches the news and weather network and weather radar , on his phone, to keep me informed. 🤬 I have to admit that some of the rainfalls we had washed away half our driveway. Yesterday I came home from my walk just in time.

I hope the kids are ok also. Apparently this kind of thing happened last year during the Fiona storm. Cars with kids in them got washed down the river. Just horrible. Nova Scotia is definitely getting hit and hard 🙁

Strange that there is so little group reaction to my report of a major emergency just next door! I guess NIMBY is in full effect in this forum as well. This saddens and disappoints me! No response required!

It was pleasant overnight, but warmed up quickly once the sun rose. Clouded over very quickly about an hours ago, now I hear rumbles of thunder and it's raining. Looked at an online forecast and here we're under a severe storm watch - again.
