Our version of retirement: Living a childhood dream

For the green onions, if you dig a little around each onion, it will grow into a large onion bulb, which is pretty cool.
Yes, they surely do
If it were for me, I'd pick all the green onions, and grow more.
But
The onion bulbs are quite good in winter, for soups, stews, and such
And
A big thick slice puts a sandwich in another realm

A wonderful bird is the pelican,
His bill will hold more than his belican,
He can take in his beak
Enough food for a week
But I'm damned if I see how the helican!
I forgot to add this-

This well known Limerick is often misattributed to other famous poets such as Ogden Nash. Dixon Lanier Merritt (1879–1972) was an American poet, editor, historian and humorist

So, I'm whacking the tall weeds I loosly call my lawn this morn

It's all brown this time of year (I'm good with that)

I run across this low, green plant
Rather thick

Near as I can tell, it's

Redstem Stork's Bill (Erodium cicutarium

I'd love to fill the back yard with it
(no mowing...whacking weeds....no watering....happy happy joy joy)

A special time today
Son and his girls stopped by

His eldest girl has Dravet syndrome
Bouts of epileptic seizures 24/7
Heavy meds
She's not expected to see her teens

I don't know how he does it
He's been the nurse
the doctor
the EMT
and
The Father...the single parent

Little ones are so precious
This one, more so

I savor these moments

The Lord said it best
' Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.'

Do they live close enough that you get to see them often?
They're only 50 mi away
They're living at the cabin between commercial fishing trips and working the ranch

This last visit was quite impromptu

There was a screw up on her meds at Walmart
A 5-6 day delay from the original quote
Seems somebody might have dropped the ball
He was in a panic

The pharmacist searched the local supplies
found them at the hospital
Other wise they'd need to be flown in

This was at 4p
The hospital pharmacy closes at 5p
He called us
We picked 'em up

All ended well

Thing is, without those meds, Dravet syndrome kids will go into constant seizures until their last breath

He usually doesn't play it that close, but the hay and such took more time than he'd planned

Like I say, I don't know how he does it all

Finished the deck
It's a design while you go project
Always a bit of a mystery on how it's gonna turn out
It became multi tiered

Funny thing
When one works on revamping a room or yard
And it's a bit cruddy to begin with
There's only one way to go
But when that project is done, it just makes the other areas look that much worse
There's no fun in getting everything done at once, and pouring immediate money into a pit
I'd much rather string out the agony for months on end

May next tackle the ugly fence but I so love hitting the dog's nose with the water hose when he sticks it thru a gap in that rotten fence

Or
I may upgrade the clothesline to something retractable

I incorporated the planter, that, at one time was the sandbox

Happy about the brown weeds, however
