I'm glad newer appliances don't last long!

I've heard of such, wouldn't want to put my all my eggs in that basket, as they say.
Lots of people have them here because European kitchens tend to be much smaller than the US and not as many people have separate utility rooms so all white goods go into the kitchen, so space is at a premium ,

.. but I wouldn't...the main drawback being if one thing stops working then neither can be used... further to that it takes a very long time for the washer and dryer to complete a cycle...and of course eats Electricity...

As weird and [EDIT]un-intuitive as modern appliance controls and programming is(are?), I look forward to them dying after just a couple years!

...that is all, I feel better now. ;)
But doesn't that mean you'd have to buy new ones, probably at a higher cost and possibly not as good, convenient, durable, etc. as the last ones? And you know how sometimes "new and improved" means worse and more of a PITA. :sneaky:

I DON'T WANT weird controls! Why can't we have SIMPLE?

I’m feeling that way about my iPhone. All the hip slide this way or that way and/or while holding a button or two in lieu of a simple menu and chooser button is horrible. When it needs replacing I’ll look elsewhere.

I regret letting go of the 20+ yr. old washer, especially because it "made sense" because we got the newer one from my step-daughter. But, you never know when an appliance is going to become a 'money pit', and not worth the money, time or trouble to deal with.
