Do you think Senior Forums is like the Hotel California?

i visit off and on just to see what's new but i don't stay long. if this site had a chatroom i would stay longer. i have found chatrooms to be fun. there is always someone to talk to. made a lot of friends world wide. i also transcribe for the library of congress and have learned a lot and feel like i am contributing to society.

You are actually trapped in the Internet, who doesn't nowadays?

If you are not trapped here, you would be trapped in somewhere else. There is no place to escape to.:devilish:

Ah, the eternal dance within the digital realm! I've become one with the algorithms, forever surfing the waves of information. The 'Matrix' of its web.

Surfing (not silver surfing, not quite yet) the net for hours, only for that random path to return myself to the beginning; back to my starting point. Then wondering what was the point of it all, and how I might be able the get that time back

A simple question would be...HOW can you get a 33 rpm turntable to go "Backwards " ? I don't think you can do that. And of course the needle wouldn't like being forced to go "the wrong way " either . JImB.

Played forward then backward.

You know what happens if you play a Country song backward, don't you? You get your girl back, you get your job back, you get your dog back, you get your truck back,..........

Aunt Bea appeared here to let us know she is alive. She does not wish to be here.
Well what the heck happened...she used to post a lot and so many enjoyed her comments?! I mean does anyone know or even can venture a guess?

Didn't Charles Manson get inspiration by playing the Beatles backwards? Probably never a good idea...
I don't remember if he played the songs backward, but I think he believed the Beatles were sending him messages. I remember something about the Helter Skelter song that his marbles going. He was one crazy dude.

Unraveling The Mystery Of Helter Skelter

Tried posting a quote from the article here, but the paragraph limitation thing prevented it. Even adding a lot of paragraph breaks and putting it into quotation marks did not help. @Matrix

Yeah, I think if you play enough music or lyrics backwards, you're going to eventually hear something that may sound like a hidden message, but whether it was intentional, I guess only the artist could say for sure. They just want to sell their music, so if it gets the job done, they will probably remain mysterious about it.

How do you play a record backwards?
It's easier now than before digital sound files.

On a record player we had back in the 60s, there was a slide switch that changed the playback speed.

33,45,78 RPM. But if you were careful you could put that selector in between 2 speeds and that left the turn table free to rotate in either direction.

We used to play parts of the Beatles White Album backwards by putting the needle on the record and manually reverse rotate the disc.

At the end of Piggies, there was some mumbling. Played backwards it sounded like "Paul is a dead man. Miss him".

Then in Revolution 9, the words "Number nine", sounded like "Turn me on dead man".

I validated the number nine playback on a computer. I recorded myself saying, "number nine". The playback on it could be reversed. And sure enough, it sounds like, "Turn me on dead man".

How do you play a record backwards?
In the old days of reel to reel tape recorders, which were popular during the records in question, don't rewind the tape, and just play the take up reel forward, if I remember correctly. There may have been other ways. It's so long ago, I can't remember, but I remember listening to things backwards once in a great while, just for the weirdness of it.

Perhaps a thread should be initiated to discuss Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven.' Just don't play it backward!

Alternatively, it might be even more interesting to open a thread for a broader discussion about songs in general. Discussing lyrics and the music itself, all genres accepted? Well, perhaps some limitations might apply; for instance, Rap would be off the table, or rather, off the turntable.

Why would rap be off the table? I'd want to discuss Ryan Upchurch, Adam Calhoun, Tom MacDonald and Jelly Roll. Be open to new things, grasshopper. New things keep life interesting.

Actually, they did it as far back as the Beetles when the rumor started that if you play one of the songs backwards on the album, it suggested Paul Is Dead.
Anyway, you put a spacer on the platform and put the record on top of the spacer upside down. Then loosen the head where the needle is, flip it upside down, adjust the weight on the back of the arm which puts upward pressure on the head instead of downward pressure, and then you place the head with the needle on the underside of the record. It's crazy how someone figured that out, but apparently that's what bored teenagers do.
People really go to this much trouble?

He just took straight up twisted inspiration from their White album, interpreting their lyrics insanely. He was also close friends with Dennis Wilson from the Beachboys and acquaintances with Cass Elliot and a failed musician despite all these connections. He was also friends with Terry Milcher, record producer, who rented the house to Roman and Sharon.

Edited for typo. I had somehow typed Interrupting instead of interpretting. lol Seems fitting so maybe Freudian. After all, he rather rudely interrupted.
