Can You Be Too Fastidious?

A spotless home may seem perfect, but is it welcoming? I know two people whose homes are so perfectly clean, not a thing out of place, that it’s hard to relax. Both men do it to please the wife.

Another fellow is so obsessed with things being organized that he even cleans out his wife’s purse. She works really hard keeping the house neat and tidy. I’m not sure what the difference is, even though it’s immaculate, it‘s still relaxing. It may be her bubbly personality.

Is there a fine line where a home just becomes a show house? No worry about crossing it for me.

I have known people like that and it seems that they spent most of their life cleaning. Not me. Besides people like that would not want a house rabbit for a pet. I am organized and keep my home clean but very comfortable.

I am not that person lol. I purposely leave my house looking lived in. It's clean, don't get me wrong.
But, I may leave the folded clothes on the end of my couch. My CD's are always out on my ottoman.
If, I were to clean it spic n span like, then that's what my guests would be expecting all the time.

I'd much rather have the bunny or a dog or a cat than someone who is so fastidious he cleans out his wife's purse. In some houses he could get his fingers broken. :ROFLMAO:

I’ know some people who keep their homes immaculate at all times. It’ makes for a very uncomfortable visit. Our last neighbour wasn’t a neat freak at all but one Christmas invited us over and freaked that I wiped my feet on the Santa Claus doormat. I almost left. When she complained that I used the Christmas towels in the bathroom, I did.

There's medication for that.

Our house is a show house, every bit of dust and disarray is in plain sight. ;)

Wow! What a neighbor! Have you come across the neighbor who asks you to remove your shoes before entering the house? I did and it was very uncomfortable (sorry @Jamala although I respect your cleanliness). I have never asked anyone to take off their shoes, although I always take my shoes off when entering my own house.😊

My house is spider friendly. It pains me to have to deal with them but when they start to take over I steel myself and deal with it.

I am a firm believer in the concept of enough. The house is clean enough for good health, the yard is tidy enough as a place to sit enjoying the sun and the windows are transparent enough to see out of. I am happy enough with that status quo.

My visitors are always happy to be here because I am not giving them the evil eye from the time they cross the threshold.

My house is clean, but it looks like people actually live in it. Guests of all ages are welcome to relax and enjoy throughout my home. Some choose to take their shoes off, others don't. Either way is good with me. I'm often barefoot or wearing slippers.

If the other two bathrooms are in use during a gathering, I direct our guests to the master bedroom's en suite bathroom.

My husband's mother taught her sons to stay out of women's purses. Bless her for that.

To each his own. Despite my rules it's a very cosy and welcoming home and my guests just love it.
They return time and time again.

Only sneakers are not allowed... ordinary shoes are OK.
Oh, did I mention any visiting dogs only welcomed in the games room or conservatory.

That's me.
Yes, where it comes to the house, anyway. There are family jokes about my compulsion to keep the place clean, tidy, and visually balanced.
And that's me, too.

I like everything, clean and in its place, but I never let it bother other people. I wouldn't be dumb enough to put out doormats or hand towels and expect people not to use them. If people come over and make a mess I don't mind at all because I enjoy putting everything back to rights after they leave.

I don't like my carpet to have those backgammon board stripes so I have a way of vacuuming it so that I get the "new fallen snow " look I prefer. Naturally, if anyone comes over, even for a minute they walk on the carpet and leave footprints, so as soon as they leave I vacuum it again. But tell them not to wander around in the living room? No way!

The only thing I might frown at is permanent damage like the guest who got shoe polish on a good rug. Sneakers would never do that so they're fine.

But I'd never reorganize her purse. That thing is her problem. :p
I'm with you Brother. A tidy home is a tidy mind ... a joy to return to. :)

I was going to mention that I'm not bothered at all when company leaves messes. Gives me something *fun* to do after they leave.
