I don't know if it's expected to head your way or not, Ken, but there's a tropical storm brewing off Mexico that could bring a lot of rain to So Cal this weekend. August rain is rarer than hen's teeth, so a steady rainfall to green things up and decrease wildfire danger would be most welcome. Hoping it's not a deluge that brings flooding.

Forecast says we're going to get rain all day tomorrow...so we'll send you some....

Today it's a glorious sunny day... I ordered 2 items to be delivered before 1pm today... one was the new light fitting... they knocked at 10am, and delivered the 'other thing''..and not the light... Jeez !😣...so now I'm still waiting at 3.20pm for the light to turn up, so I wasn't able to go out on this beautiful day...

My neighbours gardener returned my high reach trimmer this morning.. he was delighted with it, and thanked me very much , he managed to get all the higher jobs done which had been impossible before.

I won't let it become a habit for me lending it..because in reality. he's been her gardener for some years now, and he should have got his own High reach trimmer before now..

Looks like I'm not the only one whose motivation stayed in bed. @hawkdon and @Pepper aren't exactly balls of fire this morning, either ;)

The sedum and the phlox have been planted. Did some weeding. Gave it up because I got tired of the !@#$%&! weeds. Most of them are in places I can't see from the patio...

First load of laundry is done and in the dryer. Second load is washing as we speak. The litter box has been cleaned and the bed made. Mowing has to wait another hour until the dew has evaporated.

My son suggested I go back to using the toe nail clipper I used before. Doing that was much easier and faster. I have a special one for her and she has her own emery boards as well. She wouldn't stay still long enough, like last time, for me to use the emery boards.
Does she have some sort of scratcher, that she likes to use, anyway on her own? In place of needing to use emery boards, which lengthen the process?
Mine loves her rope/twine pad, and actually often runs over to it, soon after the nails are clipped.
It at least eliminates that extra step, for both her and for me.
😺 ☺️

I straightened up in the studio room, but somehow most of the stuff wound up in the bedroom. I sorted laundry, cleaned the bathroom, kitchen and dusted in the living room. We had company this evening...my son's new GF. She's a psychologist and a class act. She bought me flowers, a Costco shopping card that was inside a lovely greeting card and a nice size bag of Lindor chocolates.

Last week when he told me he wanted me to meet her, I wasn't that keen on the idea (at least not yet). Initially, in her favor was that she is the sister of my son's good friend Dave, a childhood friend and playmate who died of a heart attack three years ago. Turns out she is a delight to talk with and has this peaceful air about her. I found myself feeling very relaxed and comfortable with her. When she got home she texted me to tell me how much she enjoyed our visit and hopes to do it again soon. I texted back that I feel the same.

After she left, I fixed dinner..an avocado, sprinkled with lemon pepper and stuffed with egg salad. I watched a bit more of Manifest and played games on my phone.

... it's raining hard today,🌧️🌧️☔ and I knew this in advance, I made no plans to go out today..

Instead.. I'm gonna be gathering up some things for the Charity bag.. I've got quite a few Bric-aBrac items.. including books, and a couple of ornaments to go...then I put the bag in the boot of the car so I don't forget it next time I go out.. which means I can just drop it off at any Charity shop wherever I am on any day, instead of making a drive to any one Specific store

A nap or two later...I woke up thinking there was something else I was going to do. It finally came to me. Mow the lawn! So I did.

Now I'm looking online for a way to make iced coffee using my Keurig. Seems like a lot of trouble. Maybe I'll just refrigerate what's left in the morning and make it from that.
At this time of year I always have some iced coffee in the fridge. I run a pod (refillable) through the Keurig, let it cool to room temperature, than add (almond and oat) milk plus sugar, pour it into a bottle and keep it in the fridge. It's ready to go - just needs to be shaken up and poured into a glass and kept cold with a few coffee ice cubes (which I also make during summer).

As soon as I drink it, I mix up another. Decaf only, because my mood for iced coffee usually strikes in the afternoon.
