Now an Earthquake in California on top of Storm!

This thread is about an earthquake for crying out loud, does every little thing require some off the wall right wing political comment?
Gee Nathan, I usually like you and I didn't mention Newsom first. I'm not right wing by a long long shot and I've had it with him over PG&E and I'm not the only one. That company and the fires have had a horrible effect on the area I live in. I follow hosts that were former San Francisco talk radio on their YouTube channels and others are commenting the same in live chat whenever the governor is mentioned.

Sorry @Remy , yes, it was Manatee who was the instigator, should have known.

Not that big a deal. It was 4 miles SE of Ojai. Not a heavily populated area. And scientifically, rain and quakes are not related as to cause and effect.
Neither are quakes and volcanic activity caused by climate change. The former is caused by the Earth's internal heat engine that powers continental drift. The latter is caused by the external heat engine, our sun, and the changing composition of the atmosphere due to rapid industrialisation and our reliance of fossil fuels. When the two, seismic activity and climate change manifest at the same place, at the same time, disaster and death are the likely consequence.

Increased chance of a tsunami with the storm and earth quake at sametime?
Too many variables for a definitive answer.

If the quake occurs out to sea, and the earth, moon and sun are aligned to produce king tides, then yes. The magnitude and depth of the quake also affects the outcome.

As for the storm... a cyclone with powerful winds produces its own waves that are different to a tsunami. They could possibly augment each other in some situations. The storm would have no effect on an undersea earthquake. Storms don't cause earthquakes.
