Well it's almost 7.30pm... It's been HOT today... and I drove to the Cathedral city 30 minutes away .. to do some shopping ... I picked up the Drain Unblocker while I was there st the Hardware superstore.... Visited 4 stores in total ... bought a few ornamental things for the livingroom... then drove back towards home..

.. piping hot in the car..AC needs re-gassed.. had to have the window open and my hair tied up....traffic was horrendous.. I have never known school holidays to have so much traffic, usually it's blissfully empty roads..

Stopped at the Garden centre.. and had a little wander among all the new flowers for 2023...

It was roasting hot walking around, but the flowers were just beautiful. I've got loads more pics which I'll post on the Photo thread later.. and if anyone wants to use one as a screensaver... let me know and I'll send you the full size...

I wanted to get the lawns cut when I got back but it's too late now at 7.35, it starts to get dark at 8.10 pm... and it's going to rain tomorrow , so it's gonna have to stay until the next dry day...

I tell you Gigi..you couldn't be more right about the downsizing.. ..I was thinking about how much I'll have to get rid of.. and it's skeeeery.... a huge undertaking on my own tbh..

Yes it's very convenient for the city centre... couldn't be in a better position tbh... I can walk into the city in minutes ...and of course there's a room for you..do you think I would even consider a property without a spare room for my favourite GiGI..?:D

especially in a penthouse apartment...albeit on 3 floors high...but remember the big balcony..:D
Three floors is just high enough.

Granted, it was last night LOL. Nevertheless, Google lied, way too many times. Here goes.

Used Google Maps to find out exact destination and how soon we'd be getting there... Firstly, it says that to be there for 6pm, we'd have to leave on the bus at 4pm. So, it planned two hours in bus. Wow!

Secondly, once off bus a walk of 5 minutes to destination. Right okay!

Here's the truth with actual results.

Bus 4pm, we got to bus stop, half an hour later. Taking street recommended, we walked for 45 mins to get to destination. Arrived at building way too early as website was older opening session hours. No one showed up until 6:30pm.

Had fun for half hour and had to go because of other errand closed at 7:30pm instead of 9:30pm. Got lift to shop, grabbed dinner. Got on wrong bus, took two hours to get back home. Oh and during the 45 mins walk, rain shower soaked us to the bones.

Thankfully, made new friends, got a coach, who recognised our style and now, if we get to bus stop at 6:30pm he will pick us up to save us the long walk. Fixed my bow, had wrong string on it. Found us store for good arrows.

Even though there were bumps in travelling to and fro, we had a great time. Daughter got to help out a trio of seniors who were looking for a fourth for a game if table tennis.

Today, we were supposed to go out checking the tennis outside courts. Sadly, we got two lots of curtain rain pounding. So that cancelled that trip. Also, watching a new film on Disney+, with Martin Short and Steve Martin, we put away outr tablets, got popcorn and... promptly fell asleep. Yup, we was tired, thanks to all that fresh air yesterday lol!

However, still upset at the lies from Google Maps Directions... right!

On the phone with my brother. Our little sister passed away this morning.
Cathy was a registered nurse and worked all the up until she got sick.
She was 66 and never enjoyed a single day of retirement.
Found a lump on her breast and was going through chemo therapy.
She'd had an adverse reaction to the chemo drugs and they were adjusted.
Cathy didn't complete the chemo rounds.

Cathy was admitted to the hospital just yesterday, because of the continuing adverse reaction to her chemo treatment. She did not do well last night. She was on a ventilator and experiencing organ failure. The doctor said there was a higher chance of her not surviving than surviving. Well, they got her husband, Jesse, up to the hospital this morning. Jesse is 81 and recovering from broken hip and broken leg surgery. They couldn't get Cathy's blood pressure up. They took her off the ventilator and she passed away peacefully.

It all happened so quickly. Here one day and gone the next.

Last pictures of Cathy. She sent them to me a couple of weeks ago

I'm so sorry! May you be comforted, my friend. 🌹

I did some light cleaning and straightening up this morning and started getting ready for our upcoming outing. I threw my gym pants and matching lightweight hoodie the dryer with a wet towel to get the wrinkles out. I also prepared Deja's kibble and water bowls and disinfected the wand & string toy I knew my BFF, who's up from Florida would want to use to play with Deja.

Deja hid at first but reluctantly came out and played a bit. My BFF was so excited to meet our fur baby having talked to her on the phone several times a week since we got her. I told her she's her cat too. 😺 After a little playtime, we took the train to the Hoboken waterfront park.

It's the first time she's ever been. We got something to eat from Dunkin Donuts, sat on a bench and talked while people watching. A little while after lunch, we walked the promenade, which is on the Hudson River. I ordered an Uber for her to get to my house so we could go together but she took a different train than me to get back to her brother's. I saw her off, then waited for the next train.

I could have taken a train earlier than hers but wouldn't have felt comfortable doing that. I got a donut, sat on the bench facing another part of the river, next to the side where the trains pull in and people watched some more. A group came by and asked me to take a couple of group pictures, which I did.

Busy day, he says, keeping one eye on the clock. We collected our hired motorhome yesterday, it's parked on the drive ready for loading. At ten o'clock I'm off to get my hair cut, then the cats are off to their weekend hotel. Her Ladyship has to get her nails "done." We shall load our clothes later, but the pre-cooked and frozen meals will go in first thing tomorrow before we set off. Where to? Twinwood.

My cousin from L.A. is here for his yearly visit and I will spend the afternoon with him. Unfortunately, the weather is unfavorable; we usually like to walk around, eat outdoors, sit & talk. I found some letters his mother wrote to me but won't show it to him unless I get a chance to review what she says in it. I seem to recall she might have discussed his wife! So, I'd better check. His mother was one of the most intelligent and warm humans I've ever known.
