Morning folks.....got up at 5 am but not really ready...slept fitfully due to aches n pains...and also the new a/c is LOUD... I

catch u later....:p

Wee bit upset at Mother Nature. Dumped rain, just as we were planning to go shopping. Argh! Then, it went HOT, so doing the laundry and hanging outside. Overall, not a wasted day. Katching!

Making pocket fajitas for dinner with beef strips. Gave up buying soured cream and much prefer Greek style yoghurt instead lots more calcium and Vitamin D and less calories LOL!

Currently watching a two hour Paranormal video from Jasko on YouTube. His channel's great.

Enjoying one of our few sunny days, today! The temperature is an unseasonable 70 degrees (20 Celsius). For the end of August that is highly unusual, but I take it since I don't like heat! Here is a picture, taken from my balcony. You can see glimpses of the Northumberland Strait at the top. That's how close I am to the sea. Too bad I can no longer walk there.

Hi HD, I really don't know how to answer that. For me it would be a question of "would my neighbour be embarrassed if I showed his backyard?" If there were hedges around a property, or swimming pools and lively activities around Barbeques, I would be very careful not to invade their privacy but as you can see by the picture that's not the case. Officially frowned upon? Maybe, but since the trend is to build more and more multi story dwellings I think an inadvertent invasion of privacy of homes built before that is unavoidable!

No I think you misunderstand, I wasn't referring to you posting a pic of their backyard, I just wondered if it's common for Backyards where you live not to be separated by hedges and fences ?

Ah, now I get it! Yes, it is usual for most homes to have fenced in backyards. Some have hedges, others fences. What makes this picture so unusual is an occurrence that made me depressed for days. We had a beautiful little forest in our backyard. Birch, Elm, Maple at various stages of growth. I could not see the other buildings at all since I had a big Maple tree right outside my window. One morning, the saws were going and they cut down all those beautiful trees in preparation for new construction that hasn't taken place yet! This was almost two years ago! :(

Oh wow...I can really imagine how upsetting that would be... We have huge woodland behind my house... and last year the owner of the land ( fields) abbutting the woodland..sold to developers.. and now..in this semi rural part we have 400 new houses... and more are in construction..

hope you have a Great time...(y)
Much appreciated Holly, all packed and ready. Thursday the traders all arrive ready to set up shop. Originally we intended to leave late tonight and park up spending the night at a motorway services close to the exit on the M1. But with all well laid plans a minor setback has meant we shall leave in the morning. At least we have the luxury of leaving before the peak traffic or after it depending on what tomorrow brings. The setback hasn't been resolved fully.

oh goodness, it's bank holiday weekend so the road will be very busy in the morning.. so you'll have to leave extra early...

I did a lot today. I made some mixes for my bread machine to make it easy when the time comes to make bread.
Whole wheat, Multigrain, Pumpernickel, and Honey Cornbread.
I put up some more fermented pickles.
Made a sort of Primavera pasta but it had grass fed hamburg so it wasn't vegetarian. The onions, garlic, and tomatoes were from our garden along with zucchini and mushrooms. I made a sourdough loaf yesterday. We had that.
Laundry, vacuumed and mopped the kitchen.
I'm done! Relaxing now with you good folks. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I did some light cleaning and straightening up this morning and started getting ready for our upcoming outing. I threw my gym pants and matching lightweight hoodie the dryer with a wet towel to get the wrinkles out. I also prepared Deja's kibble and water bowls and disinfected the wand & string toy I knew my BFF, who's up from Florida would want to use to play with Deja.

Deja hid at first but reluctantly came out and played a bit. My BFF was so excited to meet our fur baby having talked to her on the phone several times a week since we got her. I told her she's her cat too. ๐Ÿ˜บ After a little playtime, we took the train to the Hoboken waterfront park.

It's the first time she's ever been. We got something to eat from Dunkin Donuts, sat on a bench and talked while people watching. A little while after lunch, we walked the promenade, which is on the Hudson River. I ordered an Uber for her to get to my house so we could go together but she took a different train than me to get back to her brother's. I saw her off, then waited for the next train.

I could have taken a train earlier than hers but wouldn't have felt comfortable doing that. I got a donut, sat on the bench facing another part of the river, next to the side where the trains pull in and people watched some more. A group came by and asked me to take a couple of group pictures, which I did.
I love to people watch and I love Dunkin Donuts coffee. I try not to eat the donuts but if I do it's an old fashioned and/or a sour cream donut.

Back to reality today after watching "The ocean at the end of the lane" at His Majesty's Theatre in Aberdeen. It begins with a man who returns home to attend has father's funeral and meets an old lady who reminds him of his past and the pond which in a child's imagination is an ocean where anything can happen.

This play had the lot - suicide, magic, witchcraft, child abuse and even occasional humour. The sound and visual effects were stunning as demons from the lake filled the stage with terror. It was WONDERFUL. This was live theatre at it's very best. Glad we went to see it.

Bank Holiday Friday here.. the weekend including Monday is the last public holiday until Christmas. Traditionally millions go away ..usually abroad.. or at the very least crowd the beaches. However today is overcast... and perhaps the beaches will have to give way to other pursuits.

I never go anywhere further than locally on the Bank holidays because the traffic on the motorways is something to behold.... and not in a good way...:D๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš•๐Ÿš™๐Ÿ›ป๐ŸšŒ๐ŸšŽ๐Ÿš“๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿšš๐Ÿš๐Ÿš˜๐Ÿš–

Powers been out for the last nine hours, first time in a few years it's been off this long, bummer. I have a small portable generator so can run a few things but no water or toilets and no A.C. which I would have on since it's hot and humid.

I know I'm not alone though, many outages do to storms last night.

And this is what I have stared at in disgust every day for the past two years! The sheds weren't there either. Just beautiful trees!

Welp, after a very lay-about-day yesterday, I've realized I did
not complete the task, so think I'll be laying about again today.... Back hurting a lot for some reason...so that's a good
excuse!!!! 84deg F, heading to 100deg again.....
Sorry about your back, @hawkdon! I can sympathize and empathize, having a life-long sore back. Lately it's been a bit better ... may the same happen to you! Our temperature is 66 degrees F heading for a glorious (not) 70 degrees this afternoon. Heavy rain and chance of flashfloods is expected for the next two days. What a depressing August. I know that I hate the heat but 70 degrees? At the end of August?
