The mother of shamed Spanish football chief Luis Rubiales has locked herself inside a church and gone on hunger strike in support of her son.

Angeles Bejar demanded an end to the 'inhumane witch-hunt' after he kissed Spain player Jenni Hermoso on the lips following their Women's World Cup triumph.

Rubiales refused to stand down as president of the Spanish football federation but has been provisionally suspended by world football's governing body FIFA.


Bejar, a former hairdresser, has locked herself in the Divina Pastora church in Motril, east of Malaga in southern Spain, and started an 'indefinite, day and night' hunger strike until 'justice is served.'

Bejar demanded that Hermoso 'tell the truth' after the player insisted the kiss wasn't consensual, in contrast to Rubiales' account.
As reported by Marca, she asked 'why are they being so cruel to him' and 'what is behind the story' since 'he is incapable of harming anyone.'

Rubiales grew up in Motril, in the Andalucia region, and visited there for a holiday over the weekend. Angeles' husband is the resort's former mayor.

It comes as the Spanish football federation holds another urgent meeting over Rubiales' future in his post.

Luis Rubiales' cousin Vanesa Ruiz Bejar, speaking on behalf of her family, said outside the church: 'The statement I'm about to make is extremely difficult.

'My name is Vanesa Ruiz Bejar and I'm Luis Rubiales' cousin.

'There's a campaign of harassment occurring that is very unfair.

'Luis' mum who is a very religious person has sought refuge in God and started a hunger strike.

'She doesn't want to come out of the church. We are all suffering a lot because of what's happened to Luis which doesn't seem at all fair to us.

'He's been condemned already without being tried. It's not normal. We won't to be left alone. The facts speak for them, there are videos, there are audio recordings.'

In a direct message to Hermoso, she added: 'Jenni, say the truth.'

'Why has she changed her version three times? We have suffered a lot, we have had to leave our homes because of the harassment we're suffering.

'We won't to be left alone and see justice done and we want this woman to tell the truth. Jenni, 'tell the truth!'

Oh, they are people of passion in Spain, is that why the women do not shave their armpits? This mornings News, the people of Madrid were surveyed on the subject and the overwhelming response was in support of Rubiales.

Yep, the Spanish unfortunately are greatly affected by the bull running mentality. That's why we sold our holiday place there 10 years ago and bought in Italy instead... they are a lot saner and besides we love canneloni!

I have a strict rule about kissing on the lips. Unless you’re a female making a date, have a lot of money, like millions, own a mansion and don’t have any kids, kissing on the lips will not be allowed.

Perhaps they could open one on, is it ok to lift a guy a foot off the floor in a bear hug and drop him without consent.

You certainly have a lot invested in this case. Your intense involvement reminds me of a powerful guy who used his position to disparage gay people. One day in an airport restroom, he tried to proposition a man in the next stall. Just so happens, his stall neighbor was a cop. Perpetrator was arrested and less than 60 days later, he resigned his coveted position.

Repression. "Repression" is Freud's term for the mechanism that turns our unacceptable desires away from us. Those unruly desires are repressed, made inaccessible to our thinking. The "unconscious" and later the "id" are the terms Freud uses for this realm of inaccessibility.

I think it is a little more complex than that generalization. Repressed desires can be very traumatic and lead to mental illness.

This ‘man’ is an embarrassment, and should be an embarrassment to all men. Maybe he should grow a pair and step down. The same pair he grabbed in front of millions in his own celebration.

As for what a ’jury’ might say. The jury of a sporting organisation or federation might say that he broke federation rules regarding professional conduct in his position as head of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. He hardly seems like the right public face representing women in football. I’m not convinced he will be in that position much longer, but we will see.

Then there is the reputation of others in the origination to consider, and the reputation of Spain’s bid to co-host the 2030 World Cup. Is his current ‘reputation‘ doing to carry this through. Everyone seems to be talking about him and not the football he represents in his own country.

How about the sponsors; the money involved, for which there are millions involved. Do they want their businesses to be associated with this man. Money really does talk in sport. There are far more complexity’s at play here than simply she said or he said.

I am sure you are right, money talks and the sponsors will be quite happy to support an organisation that supports LGBT demands first and football second.

Seems fine to me, but let me put this to sleep my end.
I was delighted to see the rise in popularity resulting from the current woman's competition. Delighted to watch the news and see young girls taking up the sport and the suggestion of more cash and football academies.
Then this saga and looking into the fact that the majority of the players are gay with obvious gay agender fuelling the teams, the obvious cause of the current problem.
So would I want to send a young daughter to a football academy run by Gay women, No. Would I want to send a son to a similar run by Gay men, no thanks.
Just very disappointed as it was looking so promising until the LGBT brigade decided to make mileage out of it.

It gets worse, the Spanish FA, asked to be suspended,
because the Government are interfering, EUFA said no.

The Spanish Police and courts are investigating the kiss,
to see if it can be classed as a Sexual Assault!

Hollywood next.
