we have lots of Charity shops in the nearby towns here ( but no specific furniture shops)... I often go in and have a look in them, but rarely buy anything now. Prices do seem to be rather arbitrary ... but I do however give a lot in Donations... furniture, clothing, Bric--Brac
Our house clearing and hubby's clothing all went to Sally Ann. That was a last minute find in the back roads.

Ardgowan Hospice is the one for clothes mostly, occasionally Cancer shops but since Pandemic, prices have gone up a bit.

Sometimes we just go to another city or village just to find another pool of different clothes. We bought had to replace some due to weight loss.

As we're going out more often now, you do need more than one pair of jeans that fit LOL!

lol you're talking to someone who owns more than 20 pairs of jeans... :D

I'm making multigrain bread from one of my homemade mixes.
BTW I FINALLY learned how to make sourdough in the bread machine!
I need easy but I wanted true sourdough. I also like a sandwich loaf instead of a boule.
I don't bake any bread in the machine. I only mix it . It does a great job with correct temp., timing etc.
Hope everyone has a great day!
My thoughts to all in Florida and along the path of Idalia.. We are in the path for tropical storm strength in NC. We need the rain.

Good Morning Breakfast Clubbers!!!! Bright and sunny here, temp is 64F....up to high 80's today, no rain....I've got to get a move on, tho I don't know why...seems the dish dwarves took
last nite off again grrrrrrr.....My bank is changing ownership, so
kinda concerned about all those processes...but see that one of
my pensions from outside usa made it into my account last eve...So am less worried about that, got grocery in yesterday
pm, so candy bowl is topped off....got some cheerio's for squirrels but they aren't taking to it very quickly...oh well....have a great day all!!!! ;)

@hawkdon Those squirrels don't have any business being choosey. It's not like they have to pay for whatever you feed them.

Cool today after torrential rain yesterday. Yay. And I don't have to water flowers.

Feeling marginally better (slim margin!) but still don't see how I'll have the strength to work tomorrow.

My doctor got permission for me seek chiropractic outside my Kaiser Permanente HBO when I saw her last Monday. After calling a few offices which had substantially higher costs which they expected me to pay, I got an appointment for today which is scheduled for 3:40 pm. Pretty excited to see what he can do for my left side sciatic nerve which has never forgiving me for driving 3 hours north to visit the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden. It was screaming at me all the way back home when we returned the same day. So painful and mobility limiting. Hoping for a normal body again! 🙏

Meanwhile we finally received a new cartridge filter for our spa. So yesterday I scrubbed it out and finished emptying it after our walk and started refilling and heating before dinner. This morning I christened it so maybe this also help this poor body out.

Wait? It? Out? Seriously. At my (advanced) age you think I have a second to spare?

Just hope you don’t have any conditions that might prevent you receiving any of the interventions that might help you to a speedy recovery. My wife has two such and has been told by the infectious disease doctor that she simply must not catch Covid. So we are in eternal lock down here though we still go outside unmasked in less busy places and shop at less busy times but fully masked.

Hello peeps...my last few days have been those 'on' 'off' days...y'all know what I mean ...no details necessary but......
Today I have a date.!!!!!

Yes old mizmo has a date to go shopping with a gentleman in the building.
It is to a specialty food store we had discussed at one time and he offered to take me as he shops there too.

He is the father of the lovely gal from Scotland I had visit me over the Holiday season. Earlier posts tell all.
He lived with a lady for several years but she has gone into a retirement home so he is all on his own.
She was beginning to get 'stroppy' , his word he is English , with him and other people so not a good sign.
Her daughter packed her off to fancy home.

Today contractors start work on removing railings from balconies so much drilling concrete work and noise, noise, noise.
Not looking forward to that.
Anyone like to give me room and board for three months or so.:rolleyes::p

Must go, he is picking me up at 11.30am
Later

I've done nothing today except clean Maggiecat's litter box and make my bed. I'm exhausted. Hoping but not believing that I will be able to go back to work on Wednesday.

With this Covid variant, that's exactly what must be done. From what I hear from those who've been stricken over the past year, this one's worst symptom is the complete exhaustion it brings.

Worst thing that happens if you can't work is that people will have to do without croissants, bakery cookies and other goodies. Think how much more they'll appreciate you when you return to work!

Get well soon, GG. Please don't push your body when it's telling you to rest. No good can come from that.

@StarSong You're right, of course. DS and DD are both insisting that even if negative tomorrow, I can't work. My body insists, too.

DD just drove me to the bank. It was exhausting, and all I had to do was sit. DD said the same thing, but she had to do the driving, too.

There was frost in my Upper Peninsula hometown yesterday morning. Frost. I remember walking to school on the first day years ago (Wednesday after Labor Day) and using the toe of my shoe to break the ice on top of puddles.

Alas, we are a long way from frost here, although a cool front blew through with yesterday's rain leaving us with high temps in the 80s for the next couple of days.

Not long home from my grocery shopping trip.... Took my time on this last day of the school holidays while the stores were all quiet, and there was so many available spaces at the Retail park... and no rush hour traffic which starts at 3pm on normal days .... fabulous....

Can anyone remember the red ditzy print dress I got about a month or 2 ago...? well I got a similar one in Emerald green today...

Had a good look around the Variety discount store ( B&M) .. as well while I was out, and picked up some office supplies... They had some white gravel stones at their garden centre, which were only £5 per sack.. but altho' they advertised having the larger white pebbles that I want, they didn't have any in stock..

Supermarket wasn't too busy but despite getting around quite fast I was slowed up at the checkouts, because only 2 were manned... so the queues were long.. ...anyway , we were talking about biscuits yesterday on here.. so I bought some Chocolate orange Digestives... and some Dark chocolate Ginger biscuits.. at Tesco

so the queues were long..
Where I am at long lines as we call them are a thing of the past. Everywhere the stores are installing self check out stations. I used to resist using them until one day I was forced by circumstance to try it. Since then I only use them rather than stand in line. Zip, and I am out the door. But, not in the UK? That's a surprise. The UK is always ahead of the US in so much.

yep we have tons of self service checkouts.. however theyre cramped together , there's a tiny area next to the till to put your scanned goods... and with a whole trolley full of groceries it's impossible to have enough space, so it has to be a manned checkout !

Oh I forgot to say, when I was buying some OTC meds at the Instore pharmacy they offered me a Free BP check if I wanted it.. .

I thought why not... so they took my BP..both arms ( never had both arms done before).. and it was perfectly fine 128/85

I'm fortunate I've never had High blood pressure..... in the past I had low BP which used to make me lightheaded.. but never High...

This talk of self-checkout reminded me of my grumbling here about folks who are using the 15 or less line when they have an overflowing cart. Sunday I watched a couple read the sign and then head there with their overflowing cart. There was somebody else doing the same. It must be the trendy thing to do. I looked over at the regular self-checkouts and there were lots of empty spots.

More laundry today and I need to get out walking. Some grocery shopping too.

we don't have 15 or less checkouts anymore since the introduction of self checkouts....

@Mizmo A date? Omigosh. I smell orange blossoms. Maybe your gentleman caller would make room for you at his place for three months...jussayin'
Fohget the orange blossoms!!! No way! ... jussunsay'

He lives two floors above me . Same noise. The balconies are being done in lines of three, floor by floor.
Just got back and we saw that they had already removed all of the railings in the first line. The real noise happens when they cut the concrete and make repairs before the new ones go in.

The shopping trip was good and we had a coffee...but wait...don't go away.
He asked me to dinner at his place tomorrow...uhuh....I got a date age 90 ....laugh hand slap.gif
He is cooking something special from his purchases at this gourmet shop which is horribly expensive and has
lots of yummy stuff. I don't know what he bought as we just went our own way in the shop.

Anyway GG you take care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon.hug hug.gif

See y'all later
