Garden gnomes, which are the sinister accomplices of burglars. Welsh police have warned homeowners that thieves are placing the ornaments in front gardens and waiting to see if they’re moved – if they’re not, it’s a sign the owners might be away.

Naturally, not a fan of garden gnomes... However, people who decorate their front of back gardens, can have the same settings for years. Therefore, no one can take for granted that if said decorations aren't moving that no one's inside. That's crazy!

I had someone attempting a break-in round late 90s. Once it heard our dogs barking, he scarpered. We installed an alarm system afterwards. However, police there were useless.

There were footsteps in the snow, damages to the door, which thankfully we didn't have to pay as we were renting and the landlady was very understanding. Granted, the car was gone, husband was at work. It was Sunday morning.

Kids, dogs and I were still asleep. Saw what he looked like from balcony window from kitchen, used a crowbar, gave description precisely, but still PD couldn't be bothered to search for culprit. Mentioned that he was probably looking for drugs. Wow, such great service for our high taxes back then. Pffft...

Gnotice.....

Garden gnomes can gnot be trusted.

Gnothing gnew gneeds attention, because those gnuisance gnomes gnatter away to each other while they gnibble all your apples. 😊

Our community has always tried to stay rather "invisible". That is an ideal for us...privacy, and democratic free choice. We had a foot bridge that crossed our creek and when it was slippery, or if you lost your balance, you would fall and be greeted by gnomes. They would catch you and keep you safe. :)
@PeppermintPatty I loved your post and looked at the "Gnome page". Great! I liked a gnome pic they had there...it would be a good one to get for our farm.

Our foot bridge washed away because of flooding about 15 years ago.

bridge.JPG I guess the gnomes floated down stream.

Haha. Oddly enough I actually LIKE garden gnomes or other peoples properties and found them rather cute.

I’m a woodland creatures type of gal. I’ve got rabbits, squirrels , butterflies, frogs riding bicycles. More realistic stuff 😂 so adding garden gnomes seem to make my garden too comical. I’m not sure why I find them so annoying.

When we moved here, the owners had some adorable things. Most were very tasteful and cute. Turtles for stones paths … rabbits, lots of handmade Bird houses . Sometimes there’s just TOO MUCH stuff. More is definitely not better. There were some spooky gargoyles that made me shutter every time I saw them.
They made the gargoyles on this thread look tame and friendly.

I think too much stuff looks Gawdy looking.
Over kill!

P.S. I do feel badly about your washed away garden gnomes. I still have feelings for them. 😂 I’m just nuts. 🤪

Love the bridge idea. That was really cute.

I agree but the gargoyle looks scarier to me.
Far scarier. I’m not sure if I smashed it to pieces but right at our walk in was an ugly grey gargoyle with bulging eyes and sharp pointed teeth. Mine made this one below look sweet & tame.
I’ve never liked or trusted garden gnomes. The red hats should be a dead giveaway to what is to come… 🙀

They were in other places on our property and I just found them creepy.

I think the main reason why I don’t like gnomes, gargoyles, Santa Claus and all the elves, Snow White and the seven dwarfs… is because I’m not a people person. Im a complete animal and nature lover.

Even in my artwork I never draw, paint, carve humans. I feel a bit traitor- ish admitting this, but I connect better with nature and know I’m not alone in that.

Some gardens really suite gnomes.

I think if I were to add any people-ish garden ornaments, I’d probably add fairies.

I ‘d have some on the patio . They’d have a magical looking coloured glow coming from them. IMG_1979.jpeg

Then I’d have some placed where I’d occasionally sit

And one by the pool …. Lol
