What is happening in the world?

Seems we can't go more than a day or two without horrendous news of fire, flood and earthquakes. Has it always been this or is it acceleration of some kind to the end of the world?
I am a Christian but I don't take things to extremes and don't concern myself with trying to predict from assorted passages from Revelations and all that. I leave all that to the conspiracy theorists who are now seemingly everywhere.
I leave it all in God's hands but really - I'm beginning to think maybe this could be it!
I'm glad I do not travel and I'm glad I pray.

There are two things that I see changing the way the world operates.
1) We now have more access points to 'news'. I put that in quotes because today, the media has become more than a venue to deliver news, they have become more opinion driven than news driven. You can speculate why they have become less trustworthy but there are indications it is for political reasons.
2) Fires, floods, earthquakes, climate change (aka. Weather) have always happened, its just now more pronounce as the media bombards us with their addiction to 'being first'. They would rather be first than accurate.
This is not the 'end', but the start of a more suppressive society. Freedoms will dwindle, so it may seem like the end of what we are use to.

Part of the reason news involving nature seems more severe or catastrophic there are probably more man made structures wether house, highway, bridge etc that can be affected. People are living en mass yet a 100 or 200 hundred years ago little to nothing.

Science Agency Confirms 2023 Already Breaking Records for Number of Extreme Weather, Climate Disasters

WASHINGTON—The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) today released its updated data tallying the toll of extreme weather and climate disasters in the United States for 2023 thus far.

According to the agency, between January and August of this year, the country experienced a record-breaking 23 separate disasters—surpassing the previous record of 22 events during all of 2020—that contributed to the deaths of 253 people and each reported damages exceeding $1 billion with a total economic cost of $57.6 billion this year.

This data does not include the costs associated with Hurricane Idalia and is expected to grow over the remaining four months of 2023. Climate change is worsening as the planet warms and contributing to many of these types of disasters—including extreme heat, wildfires, drought, intensified storms, and flooding.

It is also colliding with other ongoing socioeconomic challenges and maladaptive practices, increasing harm to people and property.

We opened the door to all this 3 years ago when we reacted with terror to covid. Our respective governments saw how easy we were to control from a state of fear so they've kept it coming. First with a war and super high inflation because we support that war through taxes and now through climate crisis, and they will make us do the same through that.

I don't understand why people have such a hard time believing their own governments neither respect nor need them anymore.

I also believe it is in God's hand. It does appear that we as humans are messing with the weather causing global warming. But a couple of very intense earthquakes could quickly change that, filling the atmosphere with particulate and sulfur vapors that reflect the sun away from the earth, resulting in cooling. The "Little Ice Age", which occurred from the early 14th century through the mid-19th century, was theorized to be caused by such volcanic events. Glaciers expanded with the lower temperatures. See Little Ice Age (LIA)

What is happening in the UK as well., lawlessness abounds in many places ... Today I read something I never would have ever thought could happen here.. never occurred to me, to even think about it.. but in the Midlands of England in a place called Stoke -on-trent today
video footage captured a four-strong gang attacking two different bin crews with a hatchet, axe and sledgehammer after a roadside row spiralled into violence.

The men have between them admitted a variety of offences including assault and criminal damage, and are due to be sentenced tomorrow.

I am absolutely astounded, this has never happened in my lifetime that I've ever known about it..

We've been in an El Niño since early August.

El Niño, the recurring warm phase of the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) climate pattern, is continuing across the tropical Pacific Ocean. Odds that it will last through winter increased from 90 to 95 percent compared to last month's forecast, and the chance of a strong event is now above 60 percent. The strength of the event doesn't reliably predict the strength of its impacts, but it does increase the chances that some level of impacts will occur in places with a history of ENSO influences.

Granted there is an acceleration of fires and floods due to climate change, however there has always been disasters, it's just that with the near instant news cycle you hear about events more quickly.

Ignore the conspiracy theorists, they are seeking profit and control.

For meteorological summer (June 1 through August 31), the average temperature for the contiguous U.S. was 73.0 degrees F — 1.6 degrees above average — ranking as the nation’s 15th-hottest summer on record......since 1850 (173 years)...1.6 degrees above average.

The summer precipitation total across the contiguous U.S. was 8.35 inches — 0.03 of an inch above average — ranking in the middle third of the historical summer record. Since tracking in 1880

The average U.S. temperature for the first eight months of 2023 was 55.6 degrees F — 1.8 degrees above the 20th-century average — ranking as the 13th-warmest such YTD in the climate record.

1 degree one way or the other doesn't indicate a crisis.
Each event was a crisis, and isolated events.
Im curious, what 'maladaptive practices' are you describing?

I think the reason we are seeing social unrest lies in the population shift going on.
South American countries, middle eastern countries, are emptying their jails and sending them to other countries under the 'guise' of immigration. Countries are cleansing their countries of people they do not want.
This is happening around the world.
Free immigration passage in the US fueled this movement and as a result, is causing increased violence and lawlessness to major cities that are run my certain political parties.

What is happening in the world?
A growing number are losing their vision for the future and for our purposes in life.
We must all stay focused on this:

"I will come to terms with the future. From this day onward I will walk easy on the earth. Plant trees. Kill no living things. Live in harmony with all creatures. I will restore the earth where I am. Use no more of its resources than I need. And listen, listen to what it is telling me. M.J. Slim Hooey

When I painted this I couldn't fit "Use no more resources than I need" which is critically important for saving our planet. I felt I needed the bottom of the square block to be seen to add stability to the painting. But I still may add it on.

Kill no living things? What would that outcome result in?
Millions of animals roaming the streets, predatory animals will be hunting humans for food. Fish, sharks, whales will be washed ashore from the lack of food in the oceans.
Bees, hornets, deadly deer tick will be everywhere, killing people.
Without nutrients from animal meat, people would starve.
Really? Kill no living thing?

You could be right. With the glaciers melting, the oceans rising maybe it's time to book passage on one of those super huge cruise ships. Just have ask if all kind of land animals could be accommodated.

Yeah, we never had the media like we have now
That's for sure

As far as adverse events, they've happened throughout recorded history

As far as the end times
The Lord talks about it Matthew 24

So does the book of Timothy

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,

4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;

5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Oh Jeez, not the covid paranoia again.

I think part of it which makes it overwhelming is the non-stop 24/7/365 news cycle which makes everything seem more intense if anything, just with the constant repetition. Each year we're reminded of the horrific news events which happened, last year, and the year before, and ten years ago, twenty years ago, fifty years ago, etc. Hard not to be disturbed with the current daily news and the rehashing of all the bad news of years gone by.

A lot of the weather events, floods, extreme heat, hurricanes, etc. are definitely involved with climate change, there is no denying that. The oceans, sea life, wildlife, etc. are all being negatively affected.

I am not religious at all, and look at things how they are. Not good for sure, but smart to look at things realistically and not to get overly excited. I don't worry about the end of the world, or the afterlife, I am concerned though about what is happening in the moment and how it may worsen in the future.

Gee, where to begin?

I don't need further proof of climate change than my own lifetime. The weather is massively different in the UK as to when I was a kid. Something has changed, I see it every single day. So I consider it a fact. Now, is that change due man, or just the cycle of things? Honestly, people make a big deal about this, climate deniers etc. But for me, does it even matter?

The climate is changing, that's all we need to know. There are things we, as humans, can do to minimize our impact - why wouldn't we do these things? Who actually enjoys puking chemicals into the air and into our water supplies? Who enjoys the poisons coming out the tail pipe of our vehicles? I mean, it's not something to be pro over, is it?

Instead I see lots of angst because of change. Change upsets some people. They want to fight to keep things as they are. A folly, I think.

Biblical protestations fall on deaf ears for me, since I don't have a faith. It's all on a level with Nostradamus, imo. The world will one day end, but not for millions of years. But it will change, and radically. So as a species, we should continue to adapt and learn. Not for us, we['re only here for a fleeting moment, but for those that follow.
