Why So Many Countries Use Bidets But the US Does Not (a video)

First time I saw one I thought it was some kind of strange drinking fountain... Took many trips to Europe and Asia to finally figure out what one was for and how it might work... They need directions.
That's a bidet, not a drinking fountain!!

What exactly is the point of a Bidet anyways?

In case you accidentally drop your wallet and the guy behind you in line bends down to pick it up...then takes advantage of the situation to sniff your butt?

My parents house built in early 1900's in metropolitan NY area had 3 of them, but were unused after our family moved in and seemed to be a place to put a potted plant.

We recently remodeled our primary bathroom and added one and so we don't have to worry about running out of tp ever again.

The first thing I made sure we took with us when we moved 5 years ago was our Bidet. I love it and even bought one for our 2nd bathroom. I still dry my butt with toilet paper and I bought one for my daughter and my sister. I love using it and feels so much cleaner.
Where were you moving from that there was a bidet there? Were you in Europe?
