What are you doing today 2023

This morning a large Eucalyptus Tree branch came crashing down and fell on the fence and my neighbor's property. The branch was pierced 5 inches deep by a T-Post. Well, at least I managed cutting the fence free so my dogs can't escape. Oh yes, they love watching me work, LOL. I guess I don't have to worry about what to do the next few days: advertising the firewood on Craigslist and bringing the rest to the Dump.
PS, we planted Eucalyptus trees some 40 years ago 6 inches tall all along our fence. I didn't realize then how tall they would grow. They are drought resistant but also very brittle.

Eucalyptus trees are so beautiful and smell so good, and the sound of the breeze rustling through their leaves is just delightful. What a bummer about the one that came down. I had no idea their branches were brittle.

Good morning, boys and girls.

It's another great day in the neighborhood, and I've already cut back the iris in one of the beds in back and dug up the weeds. There's more to do, but my fingers are sore. Why is it that I can make and bake and package breads and cookies for hours on end but my fingers get sore cutting back iris and digging weeds?

Morning chores are done. Cleaned litter box, started laundry, showered after the garden stint and put on clean clothes, ate breakfast, made bed. Still need to vacuum up the debris dragged in from the garden. Ready for a nap!

Now then. Let me say that I mostly hate technology. Going round and round with Amazon. I'm not a happy camper.. 'Nuff said.

The local PUD (Public Utility District) decided to do some work somewhere locally this morning. OOOPSIE they hit the major internet cable and knocked the web offline for a large portion of the County. Was off all day and you could hear the screaming from the area millennials echoing off the hills.
Betting plenty of boomers and other generations were screaming pretty loudly, too.

I managed to go and clear up the damage in the garden caused by the storms the last 2 days. No damage to the outbuilding that I can see, but my big flower pots have been smashed to smithereens... so I've gathered them all up and thrown them all out.. they will be expensive to replace, so I won't...

It's been dry up until now.. here... but a few minutes ago we had thunder & lightening again.. and the rain is back !!...:oops:
I feel for you, Hollydolly. I'm a gardener. We don't tend to flood here, though in 1996/97 the river flooded our gravel road that provides the nearest access to the highway. Our home place is more affected by drought, which we did experience again this summer. Plus, we had forest wildfires not too far away, and for a while an uncomfortable level of smoke coming into our valley from several wildfire sources.

Stay strong & positive as possible while recovering your situation.(y) You're a jewel here at SF.

DH & I went got flu vaccines yesterday. I've had the for-real flu (not colds) a couple of times in my life, and it was no laughing party. The relatively minor symptoms from this vaccine - slightly sore arm and 24 hours of feeling a little wonky - are a thousand times better than the flu.

Each time, I'd felt like I'd been hit by a bus and was pretty much bedridden for a week.

My last bout was when I was in my early forties. Can't imagine how hard it would hit me with almost 30 additional years under my belt.

So today is a stay-at-home day. There's plenty here to keep me busy...

The balcony boys have just finished cleaning the walls, windows and floor with a hose like you never saw .
All concrete work finished.
Now ready for painters. No word yet on when that will happen. I do miss my balcony time and now the cool weather is upon us not likely to get out on it this year.
Oh well, hopefully next year..i.e. if I am still around:ROFLMAO:

Today is The Battle of The Duvet Cover Day. Off to the laundry......may see you later. Depends on who wins.

Slept 10 hours straight. It was raining so decided against going out. Checked timeanddate.com to find the exact day for the Fall/Autumn Equinox. Which will be after the moon of 22, so officially on 23 September 2023.

Reported broadband incident to provider. It was fixed within 40 minutes. After 3 days, the waiting time was below 15 minutes. An improvement 😁. All's back to speed and as it was the company's fault got compensation. Nice!

Had soup and beef pâté on toasts for lunch. Took a shower (need to look for coconut shower products to combat folliculitis). Put laundry done away. Resting for half hour, before feeding kitten at 6pm and planning dinner.

@RadishRose - How go the plumbing and wall repair wars?
Oh, the new pipes are in, new shut off valves all around, Things under sinks finally all put away. Tomorrow, a guy coming to give an estimate on sheet rock replacement for the walls and ceilings that have had holes cut into them. Not sure yet when wall and ceiling repairs will be done. My son will paint.

I'm calmer now, Thanks for asking, SS.

Well, I am having my usual quiet day and am loving it! It's nice not to feel sick except for the usual age related stuff, of course! When I was diagnosed with bladder cancer I expected to have to say goodbye to this group long before now, and here I sit feeling disgustingly well instead! (y):) I hope the tumor will keep taking its time! I love life!

At the moment I am responding to posts, reading my Spenser book in between, and just came back from my second pedalling on my stationary bike in two days. I don't like how weak my legs have become and hope to strengthen the muscles a bit. I did 3 minutes yesterday on moderate tension, and upped it to four minutes today. I know that's pitiful but I believe in taking it easy at this stage in my life! Last time I pushed myself too hard and ended up having cramps for days!

This evening will be special. We (my daughter, son-in-law and I) are going to watch a Champions League Soccer game. Bayern Muenchen vs. Manchester United! Both are excellent teams so it should be great. They played yesterday so we are watching the game on DAZN. To enhance my evening even further, my daughter will be making Bread Dumplings, Goulash and Red Cabbage for me. Life doesn't get much better than that!

Very early this morning, I started packing up food items and bottles of water for my son to take to our timeshare. He is leaving to go down for the weekend, directly from work tomorrow. He'll return Sunday with the keys and I will go down Monday, since it's booked for the week using my annual owners week (a "free" but really prepaid booking). I have to figure out exactly what I'm going to wear and pack my suitcase for him to take when he leaves out at 3:30 tomorrow morning.

After I get packed, I'll do the kitchen and bathroom floors. Also my friend who produces my videos called and we were on the phone for two hours. That's the longest we've ever stayed on the phone. She's also a fitness instructor and we talked about what I can do to help with my diagnoses. She's instructed seniors on fitness for over 20 years and says she's seen amazing results for some who were in pretty bad shape.

Don’t even think of saying goodbye to us , any time soon…..you’re here with us for the long haul. 🌻.

@hollydolly All your pots destroyed? OMG. If that happened here, they could only be replaced if DD/DSIL took out a second mortgage! We have a lot of pots.

Amazon problem may have been resolved. Fingers crossed🤞

@Mizmo I can relate to the Battle of the Duvet Cover. I dread having to wash the cover for my weighted banket. Ugh. But you got a day's reprieve.

hellooo...I'm here hiding from the torrential rain....

I have an unrelated question, HD. How do I download a picture that's not in one of my folders without either having to pay for it or having it defaced with a trade name! I don't mind the above drawing but I was going to use one for my avatar, just for the fun of it and a trademark would ruin it!

I preume you mean a photo straight from the internet ..Yes ?.. all you do is search for the subject , find one that isn;t copyrighted, save it to your computer if you want to use it as an avatar, then reduce it's size to avatar size.. using a free photo editor.. then save again and then uplaod to here from your computer..

if it's a photo not specifically to be used as an avatar, then you just google images, choose one that has no watermark, right click ''copy image address''... or some will say ''copy image link'... then simply click on the little box with the house in it above.. click on the ''chain link'' and right click your mouse and the photo will post here..like this

I get the flu vaccine every year and haven't had even a trace of the flu for over 45 years. I had one after the other in my youth, complete with pneumonia and pleurisy! As you wrote, it's not fun!

I must have built up natural immunity in the meantime, but don't take a chance on it, so another shot coming up with my next doctor's appointment!

As an aside, I can't give credit to the flu vaccine when it comes to colds since it works on viruses only, but I haven't had one of those for years either! Covid spared me as well even though my closest contacts had a mild form of it! And yes, I was vaccinated for that as well! Let's hope my luck and natural immunity stay with me for another winter!

Thanks a million, HD. That's exactly the funny type of picture I was looking for! I got really frustrated because all I found was Shutterstock and Getty and countless others that wanted me to become a member!

Since I am not a gardener I have to ask, GiGi. How big are those pots that makes them so expensive? I keep thinking of the small to medium sized pots I could buy for less than ten dollars at one time. No idea what they cost now!

How about this one... ?

or any of these...

I can make them avatar size for you if you find one you like..
Both are great, HD, but I just saved the one with the old sailor even though he looks nothing like me! I didn't know I could save pictures right from your posts! And there, at one time, I was so into everything "computer" that people asked for my advice! How the mighty have fallen!
