What a Sunday this has been! We've been getting the tropical rains from Ophelia since yesterday and the entire back yard looks like a lake now... never saw it like that in all the years I've been here... hope it dries out without any major damage. Not even sure when it will stop, but the river will be cresting and hopefully not overflowing. Dinner was yummy Chicken Parm and I have a pounding headache from the low pressure system... fun, fun. Not. BUT now I'm here reading posts and the world is in balance again. :giggle:(y)
 

Watching Midsomer Murders with the great Benjamin Whitrow as the eccentric local gentry, "practicing his own funeral" as Barnaby puts it.

Follows (empty) casket into crematorium, bellowing out instructions in sartorial/pompous tones... Speaking to male relative, "You, Nicky, up here (indicating pulpit). Don't want the vicar doing it. Complete faffer." Thanks to @hollydolly, I know what the term means and laughed immoderately at both the term and Benjamin's perfect delivery :ROFLMAO:
 

Today we drove to Orange County that is surrounded by the ocean, Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Diego Counties.

First we went to the Catholic Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove. While my wife explored the bookstore, I stood in front of the wall that eventually will hold the urns with our cremated ashes (we had bought niches already some 30 years ago.) I was contemplating life after death.

Next we drove to Little Saigon where I bought at our favorite Vietnamese Supermarket 10 cartons with 1,000 packets of Chinese green tea that should last me another year. In Asian markets green tea is far cheaper than at the Costco or Sam's Warehouses.

Then off to the Irvine Spectrum Center where my wife spent some time at her favorite Ann Taylor "Loft" store. I in turn got my "pleasure" walking up and down along the ocean at Newport Beach inhaling the fresh ocean breeze.

On the way home, we stopped at the Bierstube (pub) of the German Clubhouse to have dinner, but it was surprisingly closed. The website thephoenixclub.com does not give any explanation.

~Deleted over 100 emails from two of my Gmail accounts
~Finished packaging refrigerated items to put in my insulated travel bag tomorrow

~Dry & wet Swiffer-ed the kitchen floor
~Put away the rest of my laundry & the items that I didn't have to pack for my trip.

~Downloaded some Netflix programs to watch while I'm away
~Watched Get Out (on Peacock).
~Crushed a few potassium tablets in my cute little pill crusher & found a small pill bottle to put the powder in so I can take it with me.

Good morning. Guess where I don't have to go this morning? 🚫🥐

Let's see. The lawn needs to be overseeded. Some patio pavers need to be reset. The kitchen and bathroom floors need to be washed, dried and gone over with grout cleaner. Those are all things that NEED to be done. Will they get done today? In my dreams :ROFLMAO:

The computer place is going to text when laptop is out of surgery and ready to be picked up. Woohoo. Living with just this tablet is a giant PITA.

Today's is DS' 62nd birthday. He was talking with a business colleague and mentioned that next month he gets his first SS check. Colleague asked "You're taking early retirement?" DS' response was "No. I'm taking early money!" LOL
 
Raining very hard for last three days. Grandson had been sick with a fever of 105 and my dumb son thinks they are coming over today. While of course I would love to see them I want to make sure grandson truly ok and will not relapse. I'm more cautious than his parents obviously. I was so worried about him got no sleep Saturday night.

I'm getting nervous about having cats again. Buffy. I miss Buffy. These two aren't Buffy or Max. Should be picking them up this weekend, they are eight weeks old then.

No, new kitties won't be Buffy or Max, but they'll be sweet and loving kitties, and you'll be glad to be their person.

Oh, kid was dragged to doctor Saturday afternoon. No covid, no diagnosis for fever. Never saw him look so exhausted (over FaceTime). I panicked in my heart, I'm always expecting the worst.

Thank you for your purring words, of course you are right. Everything new these days makes me nervous.
 
@Pepper Yanno, sometimes Littles run a fever for no apparent reason. Whatsisname, the Father of My Children, told me that they'd get kids in for a fever that couldn't be explained...for babies sometimes just teething...and they'd give them Coke syrup cut with water or sparkling water. No kidding. Not to worry.

I bet your kitties are counting the days, too 🗓️:)
 
Still working for whole week on new tablet. Eliminated one old one, just have to disconnect later before sending off for recycling.

Second one coming along good, but it's a slow process as I want it just so. Need to transfer SD cards around. At the end of the day, it's a labour of enjoyment. 😂😂😆 It'll be until 30 September... 👍
 
It's a glorious sunny warm day today.. barely any breeze... I've been out for a couple of hours at the nature park..couldn't resist when it's so warm..

The hair salon called to say my stylist wouldn't be in tomorrow .. did I want another stylist or change my appointment date, so I chose to change it. Won't be getting my hair cut now until the 5th of October . I don't mind there's no rush...
 
Monday here shortly I will be getting fuel in my truck and gear ready for tomorrow's fishing trip locally (no long drive involved). The weather looks about perfect, cooler with med light winds (6-10) and clear. The only bad part is carrying a 5 gal can of gas on the dock with my bad leg, I may ask for some help there (I probably will). The extra weight is some painful. It is my turn to take fuel tomorrow.
 
🛼 Yesterday was my last Sunday at the roller rink. Our friends had a Sweet 16 party for their daughter. She wanted a 50's theme, and it was so much fun!!! She is a sweet girl and I'm glad her birthday was so special!

So far, I don't have anything really planned for today. Dio does a load of laundry on Mondays, so I usually use that time to tidy up or clean something. Other than that, just the usual....exercise, putter around, etc.

OMG, I have not been to a roller rink since the 80's. Oh the memories of Skateland.

why is it your last Sunday at the rink Trila ..did I miss something ?
 
I'm feeling much better but since it's so wet and awful out I took another day off to fully recover from this weird cold/flu/whatever. Yesterday I prepared my homemade chicken soup with some powdered ginger root. I usually never do this but want to clear all the muck out of my lungs and sinuses and I'm happy to say it tasted good and made me feel better too.

I will nap later. Engage in some artwork I want to finish and come here and irritate everyone for awhile. :)
