New York City Under Water

If the Climate Change predictions are correct, the day will come when NYC, and most of the Gulf and Atlantic coastlines will be completely flooded, due to sea level rise. NOAA predicts that the US will lose 17% of its landmass and 150 million people will be forced to migrate inland. Any one living in these coastal areas will lose their housing/property. Recent news reports about the Mississippi River at low levels and causing sea water to flow into the New Orleans area is a portent of things to come.

Oh dear, poor drainage, or poor maintenance.

Hard to believe that a city like New York can get
flooded, maybe it is just some bits.

Mike.
NYC is basically an island so I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

Heard unconfirmed reports of people being told or having clear the street curb areas and sewer covers of debris because apparently the city doesn't clean the streets the way it should. If too much debris in street the water will back up fast. It would've eventually backed but at a slightly slower rate. In other word they start out behind.

My son is in Paris. He got delayed coming into New York.

No joke. I might end up with ocean front property after all.

Sad what is happening in New York, extremely heavy rains have nowhere to go on the city streets. They are dealing with a lot with flooded subways also. New Yorkers are tough, they always make it through these things. I just hope they can get back to some kind of normal before winter comes and the snows set in. Wishing the best for everyone in NY who is being affected by this flooding.

The video showed the streets, but what about the Subway,
that has to be out of action I think.

Stay safe all of you who are involved there.

Mike.

From FEMA:
Can you tell if a flash flood is coming?
In the case of a flash flood, there may be little or no notice, as flash floods may develop quickly, sometimes in just a few minutes, and without any visible signs of rain.
exactly. and most employers won't let the world call in sick over a "might be" weather situation.

Some of the sealer that goes around the bath, Pepper, silicone
sealant, if you can get any of that around the window, it will stop
any water getting in, in the future and it is a very good glue.

Mike.
