NY Gov. Hochul set to arrive in Israel for solidarity mission

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul says she will arrive in Israel today for a “solidarity mission.”

She says she plans to meet with diplomatic leaders and communities devastated after the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas terror attack on southern Israel.

“During these difficult times, it’s more important than ever for New York to show up in support of Israel,” Hochul says.

New York has the largest percentage of Jews among all the US states, according to the American Jewish Population Project at Brandeis University.

Macron Calls for ‘Ruthless’ Deportation of All Migrants with Ties to Islamic Extremism from France

French President Emmanuel Macron called for all radical Islamist migrants residing in France to be removed from the country in the wake of the suspected Islam-inspired assassination of a middle school teacher on Friday.

President Macron has tasked Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin to carry out a “ruthless” examination of the files of those who “carry hatred and terrorist ideologies” over the next 48 hours in order to remove foreign-born Islamists from France, Le Figaro reports.

The government has received some support from the local Muslim community in its plans to deport radical Islamists, including from Imam Hassen Chalghoumi, who said on Saturday that the government should deport all foreigners with an S file “without pity“.

“Are we going to wait until they kill half our teachers? Our future is unclear. We must show that the Republic is firm,” the Imam said.

Hundreds packed the Illinois funeral for the six-year-old Muslim boy who was killed in a heinous hate crime, where his landlord allegedly became enraged thinking his tenants were planning to attack him on Hamas' so-called 'day of jihad.'

Wadea Al-Fayoume was stabbed 26 times and killed, his mother, Hanaan Shahin, was left seriously wounded in the attack at their Plainfield home. Police say Joseph Czuba, 71, was the one behind Sunday's attack that left the nation shocked.

On Monday afternoon, Wadea's small coffin sat inside an Illinois mosque as the community gave its final respects. The boy's dad, Oday, was in attendance and was spotted wiping tears during the ceremony.

'This is a heavy day that we hoped would never come. As they say, the smallest coffins are the heaviest,' Ahmed Rehab, executive director of CAIR-Chicago, said in a statement, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The funeral came as Czuba appeared in court on murder charges and was denied bail.

Thanks for bringing it to the front again, hearlady. I don't know if it's that or if people simply don't care one way or the other if Palestinians are permitted to come to the United States as refugees.

At any rate there is active pressure to accept them and a counter effort to not permit it.

Setting aside the politics of the situation, I will ask again, would you be happy to have Palestinian refugees settled in America?
Not at this time or in the near future. It would add fuel to the immigrant fire over here right now.
That said. What would be their future?

And thank you for letting me know that❣️
@Don M.
They are sending extra security to synagogues but they also need to do the same for mosques. People will be retaliating against Muslims too.

I read that a woman and her 5 year old son were stabbed to death by her landlord. The police are labeling it a hate crime because she was Muslim. The report didn't say if they had hard evidence of that or were speculating. After 911, someone tried to stab my husband when he was delivering an order to one of his customers in an apartment building. He had on the scarf often worn by Muslim men (but he didn't wear his on his head). My husband looked like he could be anything other than Black. The man thought he was an Arab, cursed him and lunged at him with the knife. My husband, who was a very calm, reasonable man in tough situations, was able to defuse the situation.
Diva, I agree about protection for mosques as well. I would think that stabbing a child is a horrible crime and caused by hate. I suppose the reason could be something different than the obvious but the child is dead. Maybe more info will come out, but IMO lock that madman up and throw away the key.

As Naturally reported lots of politicians are rushing over to Israel for their photo ops. There was a bi-partisan group of American senators there over the weekend. I can't think of any business they have that couldn't be conducted by secure phone calls instead of further stressing a country in crisis but that's just me.

The only one that seems useful is the CENTCOM Chief.

Thanks for all the good answers about the refugees. (y) It's interesting to me to see what seniors think as compared to other demographics.

Rightly or wrongly, Israel is starting to look very bad and will rapidly lose any allies.
Bombing hospitals is not the best idea.
Surely Hamas cannot be hiding there?
Also denying that there is a humanitarian crisis seems a bit unrealistic.

I take no sides, I do not know enough of the history and politics to justify that.
They (Hamas) live and operate in tunnels below hospitals, schools, residential housing.

"Rightly or wrongly, Israel is starting to look very bad and will rapidly lose any allies."

I suggest, Rose, you treat yourself to another look at beheaded babies and blood soaked cribs. What, you never saw that? Those "targets" were deliberate, not collateral damage, which of course is disgusting. As disgusting as your "rightly" or "wrongly." Pardon me.

You happen to see who *said* that report? (I did... check it out.) I believe nothing that hasn't been confirmed, nor do I put it past Hamas to have bombed it to prevent their people from leaving when they had already forbade leaving. I choose to be informed... if this is accurate, I will THEN compose my thoughts/feelings about it. When an evil terrorist group is involved, the world doesn't always get the truth, ya know?

Israel denies involvement in Gaza hospital blast, says explosion caused by Palestinian rocket

Israeli military denies involvement in Gaza hospital blast, says explosion caused by misfired Palestinian rocket

KHAN YOUNIS, Gaza Strip (AP) — The Israeli military says it had no involvement in an explosion that killed hundreds of people at a Gaza City hospital and that the blast was caused by a misfired Palestinian rocket.

The Hamas-run Health Ministry in Gaza says an Israeli airstrike caused the blast, and that it killed some 500 people, many of whom had sought shelter from an ongoing Israeli offensive.

The Israeli military, however, said Palestinian militants had fired a barrage of rockets near the hospital at the time.

IDF: Palestinian terror rocket caused deadly blast at Gaza hospital

"According to intelligence information, Palestinian Islamic Jihad is responsible for the failed shooting that hit the hospital," the IDF said.

(October 17, 2023 / JNS)
A failed Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) rocket launch killed hundreds of Palestinians on Tuesday night at the Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, the Israel Defense Forces said.

“Intelligence from multiple sources we have indicates that the PIJ organization is responsible for the failed launch that hit the hospital,” IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“An analysis of IDF operational systems indicates that a barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in Gaza, passing in close proximity to the hospital at the time it was hit,” added the statement.

The explosion rocked the hospital, as Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired heavy barrages of rockets at southern and central Israel. Alarms sounded in major cities, including Rishon Letzion, Petach Tikvah, Bnei Brak, Ramat Gan and Bat Yam.

Hamas’s Izzad-Din al-Qassam Brigades said it targeted the northern Israeli city of Haifa with an R-160 long-range rocket.

Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad and other Gaza-based terror groups have for years fired rockets at Israeli civilians from within residential areas in the coastal enclave. They have been reported to place weapons inside or near hospitals and other public buildings.

During the May 2021 Gaza conflict, some 15% of all the rockets that Hamas and PIJ launched fell short inside Gaza, killing many Palestinians in the enclave.

That's what I just heard along the possibility of bomb. Even the Israelis today wouldn't be that depraved to purposely hit a hospital.

Still early but was it 'an'/one explosion and multiple explosions with in seconds in the same area?

They're already canceling diplomatic meetings because of this.

Wow. I stand corrected then.
I can hardly believe the things that are happening.
I can believe it... this is the way terrorist groups often do things to try to turn the world's support of a particular group/country, etc. against the other side. Thankfully it doesn't usually work. They mustn't be very bright... to think that with all the advanced technology today, it's not going to be apparent from where the rocket was fired?

I've seen convincing video and data indicating that it was NOT Israel that hit the hospital.
But Hamas has the whole Arab region believing Israel is responsible.
Even Arab news media is still attributing it to Israel.
One Al Jazeera reporter on the ground in Gaza even tweeted on "X" from their account on X and said it was a failed Hamas rocket.
But Al Jazeera website is still reporting Israel was responsible.

The IDF is bending over backwards to give civilians a chance to leave Gaza city - more than three days in fact - so why would they deliberately target a hospital? It's not like you could mistake it for a bridge or an airport.

I really don't know how it came to be destroyed but logic would suggest that if a barrage of missiles was being sent on their way to Israel, and if they were being launched from a position close to, but more distant than the Israeli position, then it is possible that a misfire by Hamas fighters could have hit the wrong target. Surely satellites are observing from above.

Has anything been established about from which direction the bomb hit the hospital?
Until the angle and entry point is established, I'm not accepting that it was Israelis.

Absolutely.

Islamic Jihad bombed the Palestinian Hospital......

Israel's Defence Forces have released an audio clip which they claim shows Hamas members confirming a misfiring rocket launched by Palestinian Islamic Jihad was responsible for the devastation of a Gaza hospital overnight.

The clip was published amid a torrent of fury from the Arab world and Israel's foes over the explosion, with Iran declaring last night that Israel's 'time is up' and Tehran-backed terror group Hezbollah calling for a 'day of rage' after hundreds were killed.

'They are saying (the rocket) belongs to Palestinian Islamic Jihad. It's from us?' one alleged Hamas member asks in the clip provided by Israel's military intelligence.

'It looks like it,' the other responded. 'It misfired and fell on them... God bless - couldn't it have found another place to explode?'

Hamas is a political and militant organisation, while Palestinian Islamic Jihad is an independent jihadist group - but both are in opposition to Israel.

The alleged recording was one of several pieces of evidence Israel has used to deny its involvement in the hospital blast, which Gaza Health Ministry claimed resulted in around 500 deaths.

Israel also released a radar map of Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket attacks, as well as a video of the moment a rocket purportedly streaking towards Israel from Gaza appears to suffer a problem and suddenly changes course before flaming out.

In the darkness, it is not clear whether the rocket broke apart or simply lost its trajectory.

But moments later, a pair of explosions erupt in the city below - the result of what Israel claims was the rocket falling back to Earth and striking the al-Ahli Hosptial in Gaza City.

'This is the tragic result of firing rockets from densely populated neighborhoods,' the IDF said.

Speaking this morning, IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari claimed Hamas knew the hospital blast was caused by an Islamic Jihad rocket but launched a 'global media campaign' to blame Israel.

He displayed a series of satellite images and intelligence documents he said showed Israel was not responsible for the hospital blast.
