Well now there's an excellent idea!!You said you have friends and family, but they’re just getting by. Can you pay rent to live with one of them or get an apartment together with someone?

Well, that's about it. If you're a dollar over, there's not much help you can get especially. with everything so full of people wanting the same thing needing help. There are food banks, but there isn't any roof available ..So sorry no one can help you. No aid programs for the homeless? No senior aid programs? No shelters? No benefit programs? No churches even? That's unheard of... what reason are they giving you besides you having too much money?
There is nobody even if I offer money, they don't have the room. Besides they are living in Hud apartments, and they have restrictions on that.Well now there's an excellent idea!!Give a friend or family member a portion of the amount that's being paid for the motel room, and everyone wins... a place to stay that's not a motel and also help the struggling friend.

Contact your State Representative. They probably have constituent service and can help you.
You’re signed up with HUD. Is that Section 202 housing? Go directly to the 202 apartments near you and talk to the manager directly. Also, start with the area you want to live in and expand your search outward.
Check for “free legal services for seniors” in your state.

If you want to tell us what State you’re in, maybe we can help search for something. It would help if you could list some of the things you’ve tried in one
I don't know how difficult it would be for you.. not being in the USA myself.. but would it be possible for you to move to a different ...cheaper State ?..I'm absolutely sure you've thought of everything. but just trying to think of things for you..
Thank you.SNAP benefits, I hope. Apply for Medicaid, too. Get whatever you can. Hang out here. We will give you as much emotional support as you need! So glad you have the means to go on internet!
I'd like to thank everyone for their concern. I actually posted this about myself to let people know what's really going on out in the world. If they're not paying attention , I'm not the only one. There's a lot of seniors that are homeless. I had to learn this. Now that I'm out here by myself. I have had a month. and a half to research everything that everybody has given me ideas about And it's always a dead end as long as you've got waiting lists you'll be waiting who knows how long
I understand that churches offer that, but it's temporary housing and its coming upon winter here and I need to stay where I'm at. That is as long as I can afford it. And yes, I'm not extremely religious. I don't belong to any denomination, but I. do have a lot of faith in God and what God can do for people. And again, thank you.More and more people realize and want to help. You mentioned that you're on a HUD list. Churches in a lot of areas have formal resources and will informally network to help find solutions while you're waiting. Some people are uncomfortable approaching churches if they're not religious but you mentioned prayer several times. Even if you're not of a specific faith, many churches even here in the Bible Belt offer assistance without proselytizing.
If she did that, she'd be considered housed, and taken off the waiting list for an apartment.Well now there's an excellent idea!!Give a friend or family member a portion of the amount that's being paid for the motel room, and everyone wins... a place to stay that's not a motel and also help the struggling friend.
If she moves to a different state, or even to a different county, she will have to start all over again. She'd apply to HUD or some other low-income housing agency and be put at the bottom of the waiting list.I don't know how difficult it would be for you.. not being in the USA myself.. but would it be possible for you to move to a different ...cheaper State ?..I'm absolutely sure you've thought of everything. but just trying to think of things for you..

@Theresa## 's best strategy is to stay put.
yes, that's what happened. When your companion died, Theresa, is that how you became homeless?
Pretty much that's all that's here is one bedrooms and they have. a look back. too. So I can't transfer funds to my son's account because they would know that. very strict if you read the fine print of all of that stuff. and can cause more problems than it's worth.@Theresa## - before I applied for low-income housing, I'd moved all my savings to an account in my son's name. Because I could only get on the list for a 1-br apartment, I got an apartment within 9 months. Reason being, most people on housing waiting lists are families who need 2 bedrooms or more. (Calif state law requires separate bedrooms for kids and adults)
The downside would be if your area has a shortage of 1-br apartments. Where I live, there's an excess of 1-br units. But if your state doesn't require separate bedrooms for kids and adults, then you're in for a long wait. But at least you're reasonably comfortable.
It may help if we knew exactly what it is you're looking for, Theresa. If none of the suggestions here are good ones for you, we'd need to know what you want. Your very first post said you're "looking for love companion"... but that's a different issue, right?Thank you. Oh, my goodness, that's what I've been doing Exactly what I've been doing. Going crazy all over the Internet.. Thank you for your reply.
Yeah, plus, I moved that money well before I applied for low-income housing.Pretty much that's all that's here is one bedrooms and they have. a look back. too. Well, good luck to you. Hope you don't have to wait too awfully long, but it's great you have what you really need while you wait.
Well, actually, I'm not looking for anything I mean, I just wanted to bring it to people's attention that seniors are actually homeless too. But I really want to thank everyone for. getting involved in my conversation because I wanted to bring it to people's attention . How seniors get treated too. Sadly, But yeah, companionship. I really miss having someone I can sit down and talk to. one on one. Not really looking to be a caregiver again. I enjoyed it. While, I did it. Thank you for bringing the issue up for discussion... it's definitely a growing problem. You're going through so much ...grieving, isolation, uncertainty about the future. I'm glad you reached out here. Though it's hard to make the first step when you're down, I think volunteering brings as much to the person doing it as the people or projects receiving the benefits of another's efforts. It gives you social interaction, takes you out of your head for awhile and most importantly, it gives you not just a sense of value but truly makes you valuable to the organization you're helping. Keeping that sense of self worth while you're grieving, isolated and dealing with being shuffled through bureaucratic red tape for basic resources is a challenge. The good thing about volunteering is it can be just an hour a week if you're feeling too overwhelmed to do more.
Thank you. That sounds really good You're right. I could get out of my head that way. Right now, I'm so concentrated on trying to find a place to live. because I don't want to be in a motel forever. Things will get better. I'm trying to be more positive And yes, you're right. I'm still going through the grieving And missing the life that I had. You're going through so much ...grieving, isolation, uncertainty about the future. I'm glad you reached out here.
