Well the rain has become even heavier... the wind now is bending the trees straight.... and at 3.20pm it's almost dark because of the storm...

I took this still from my laptop from the BBC... for 2 reasons.. one to show the storm damage... and 2.. to show that my 17 year old.. Laptop still works well.

A year or 2 back I mentioned about having this laptop that still works, and I was all but called a liar by someone on here....but my Toshiba laptop altho' very slow..which is to be expected after all these years still works fine....

My daughter got married on Oct. 31, while on vacation in New Orleans. No big event since they have been living together for twelve years, they simply went to the justice of the peace.

Since it was so non traditional and on Halloween I had a small wedding/ Halloween cake made for them and dropped it off at their house so it's there when they arrive home. We had to get creative with the bride and groom topper but I think they'll get a kick out of it.20231102_072507.jpg

Holly I'm so relieved you haven't suffered serious damage! Continue to stay in , stay safe.
I'm thinking of you throughout this terrible storm.

Thanks Rose..🤗 it's actually getting worse by the minute.... 18,000 people now without power and it will be dark in a few minutes which will make things much more dangerous for people out there

went out for a Pub lunch today , it was cold and they had a log fire all set up , I think it was just for display though. we had torrential rain on and off .
we called at a Garden centre and bought a new Dog Bed , It looks so comfy and big , I could curl up in it myself .

Well, snow is falling, the temp today is predicted to top out at 5*C (36*F). Besides scraping some snow from the deck & the main path to our large shed, and splitting some firewood, I'm preparing for a meeting tonight with our environmental group. With the core group, that is — not our general membership, which we get together with once or twice a year.

Yesterday, I mentioned how I drove a friend (Pierre) up the highway & through the village to look over (and test drive) a used pickup truck. Which he gently haggled for, and bought at a good price. So he's offered to drive me tonight to the meeting. By the way, Pierre is the guy I described last week in the "interesting friend" thread... he's great with hands-on conservation & restoration of riparian zones & wetlands.

It's been a chilly day today and, of course, we have had a lot of rain and it's pretty blowy out. Fortunately we haven't had any power cuts but family and friends around the country have been WhatsApping photos of floods, damage and fallen trees. I believe Cornwall has suffered quite badly due to the storms.

I have no idea where the time went today, it seemed to get dark very quickly.

I hope everyone is okay. (y)

Been reading some of James Herriot stories to Ed. The “best of “ treasury I own does not have two of the humorous stories I wanted to share. Went to the library yesterday, can you believe they’ve gotten rid of the JH books?! 😒🤔. Sacrilege!

Returned today, looking for other humorous books. As much as I love PG Wodehouse, I don’t think Ed would get off on the kind of humor. Settled on Bill Bryson’s “walk in the woods”…. First chapter was a mixed success. We’ll see. I may have to fall back on Dave Barry or Jeff Foxworthy

Any other recommendations for light, clean, laugh-out-loud books would be appreciated

Aldi's UK announced that they're freezing prices so that their customers can enjoy a good Christmas season.

MSN

We're just chilling watching "Selena: TV series" enjoying a cuppa. Last item to do today. The dishes 😆😆😆. Need to go out for groceries, not decided yet in which day will go out. Later friends.

Hearlady- these test do not take long and I hope your results are OK.
My first one showed minimal osteoporosis but after taking D-3 bone nutrients, (per my doctor's advice) my scan showed less of the osteoporosis , in any other scans I got.

I had the nuclear full body bone scan, as well ,a few years ago and that went very well. But it took so long that I fell asleep.
That was the quickest and easiest procedure I ever had. Hopefully the results will be good.

@hollydolly ... thank God that you are still alive. "Storm Ciarán [your pictures above] follows less than two weeks after Storm Babet, which brought strong winds, heavy rainfall and flash flooding to parts of Scotland and northern and central England, killing several people." https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/02/weat...rthwestern-europe-climate-gbr-intl/index.html

To change the topic: I love doing stuff by myself, but sometimes I have to call for help. Like today for repairing the magnetic lock on our gate (burnt out transformer) and replacing the motion sensor that switches on the driveway lights at night when the remote controlled gate opens ($483.00.) I took plenty of pictures, and the next time I will do it by myself.
