Vision Express is one of our Major high street opticians.. they have cheap frames and lenses.. often 2 for the price of 1...
I'm so glad I finally got to check them out. The last time I was in that area, they were closed for lunch.

The prices were really good, and the people were very nice. 🤓

From home went outside into my upscale urban street world to about a half mile when slight sprinkles changed to lower moderate rain. So scurried across a boulevard to a massive community center complex that was created from a classic older era high school with large grounds. The community center always has multiple private children schools doing things into evenings.

Because the old schools had to protect students walking dryly from classroom to classrooms even on rainy days, there are many walkways covered by ceiling open to the outdoors. So I spent the next hour repeating aerobic dance exercising along those walkways until an hour later rain moved away. With neural plasticity, the more one repeats a motion, the more one's brain creates physical interconnections.

Thus the more I ski each winter, the smoother I become, and the more I dance regularly in basic bilateral 4 limb earth creature manner just like other dancers, the more natural it all becomes. Just like Stephen Curry shooting dozens of times right before each game because it not only makes new motor control brain connections but also tunes the active executive pilot mind into feeling and focusing in on those motor control areas.

Back home, watched snow coming down in Tahoe's high mountain ski resorts some. I think they need to improve their lighting too close to camera lenses that then blossoms bright OOF flake elements:

Now 10 pm PST and will soon have slowly consumed my 8th straight Keebler Sandies Shortbread cookie. On a desert ceramic plate will sprinkle a generous amount of salt. Then will get some aged Gouda cheese out, slice off a chunk and dice that up. Will place the cheese chunks around in a 5 inch diameter circle. Then add cheddar cheese all over. Mic 25 seconds, add some more salt on top. Think bacon pizza.

I've been wide awake for about an hour. Maggiecat has been fed. I've been coffeed.

Looks like it's going to be warmish with a little sunshine here and there.

Thanksgiving is a week away.

The only thing I have planned today is a trip to the bank.

Three cheers for @hollydolly! There's only one medication now that warns me against alcohol use and I just googled it. Here's what it says:

"People with diabetes should limit alcohol (no more than one drink per day for women and two for men) and consume it with food. If you take metformin, you may want to avoid alcohol entirely because of the added risks."

May want to avoid doesn't mean must avoid, does it? I'll cautiously have a beer with supper (dinner) tomorrow! Or am I being reckless? OS still being a bit nervous while trying to live life to the hilt!
you'll be fine with just one.... (y)

A present 38 F with an expected low of 34F tonight. I feel great and thankful that the cancer is taking its good old time. I honestly thought, back in April that I would be gone by now! It's my own fault! I never asked the surgeon: How long do I have? Just assumed: cancer=rapid demise when not treated. So it's a great day, not a sign of illness. The day will come, but doesn't it for all of us?

Let me ask a completely silly and unrelated question. I watched a video on YouTube yesterday that compared things that Canadians used and Americans didn't! The host mentioned kettles. He maintains that no one uses kettles in America, since they don't drink tea! LOL That all water for coffee etc. is heated in a pot or microwave! That couldn't possibly be true, could it? A kettle is a must for me, for my tea, instant coffee, cuppa soup etc. and I have yet to heat water in the Microwave oven. Is he right, my American friends?
I use an electric kettle all the time. Before that I heated a tea kettle on the stove. I do not have a microwave and have not had one since the early 90's. Americans do drink tea! My parents drank hot tea every night with their supper. I always have a jug of ice tea in my refrigerator. Many people I am friends with drink hot tea instead of coffee. I drink different types of herbal teas during the day if I am not drinking ice tea. I only drink coffee in the early morning. I think they shouldn't lump us all together as doing one thing or the other.

I usually go to a local seniors coffee klatch on 3 Thursdays of the month except for today where we always have an Encouragers meeting at my church. But I caught a cold from a woman who came into my car dealership last week and she was coughing and sneezing until she left-they could not get to her car problem and she left but I caught the flu there a few years ago-and remembered I had masks in my car- but they were putting brakes on my car- so I and one other patron i their waiting room had been exposed to this cold. I feel better today but not good enough to go to the church meeting.

They expect the temps to be in the 60's today and I might get a few small things done outside-sweeping leaves off my deck etc- but maybe not....and I am looking forward to a delivery from amazon.....my Roboblocker stopped working a few months ago and I hesitated to buy another one, but the robo calls seem to be increasing and one thing is for sure- a robo blocker gives me piece of mind. I bought a different one from what I had before.

I have a friend who complains to me about the robo calls she gets-a lot more than I get, but she answers those calls and that is the worse thing she can do-in my opinion, and she does not want to get a robocall blocker.

Last time I saw my doctor she told me how depression and loneliness are affecting so many seniors. My friend's adult children still live with her, a widow, but they work all day and I think maybe she likes those robocalls.

She does not use the internet and does not drive but most of the seniors I know have plenty to do, and they try to stay away from the plague of loneliness and how depressing the news is.

Forums like this one are a Blessing!

you're so right, without forums like this there would be lot more depression among people who live alone...

I seem to have misplaced my motivation. If anybody here sees it, please PM it to me.

Wait a shake! Maybe I'm depressed? That would explain why I haven't made the bed in three days...
Gigi...I wouldn't be at all surprised if you're feeling some depression given that this week you've had some events that have shaken your life.. and further to that you're having to deal with unnecessary strife at work... as well as the physical aspect of it....

I think you need to take a little break from everything if you can... a couple of days away somewhere completely different would do you a power of good... seriously , any chance of going somewhere nice...?

Yep, the enthusiastic young man is doing exactly that. He is judging the differences in our cultures by the area he lives in. He swears he's never seen a kettle outside of Canada and that all his water is heated on the stove top or in a microwave! It's not the first time I see him do that.

Same as the claim that all Canadians can be told by their "eh?" at the end of every sentence. That's extremely rare in the Maritimes. And then there's the infamous "aboot" instead of "about!" I am not denying that there might be areas where they speak like that, I have to plead ignorance when it comes to that, but once again, never heard about "aboot" in NS or NB! LOL As you said in other words: Beware of stereotyping!

Thanks, Sadie. That's what I thought. It's not the first time the "host" of that particular channel is wrong when comparing Canada vs. U.S.A. He is American, by the way! I don't understand the concern re. fire hazard. My electric kettle shuts off the moment the water boils. It's not like the good old days when you were in trouble if you forgot you had water boiling.
I used regular on-the-stove kettles or electric kettles on the counter for many years but stopped because I'd rather have those spaces clear. Since I brew coffee with a Keurig (and refillable pods), It also produces hot water (for herbal tea) at roughly 170° -185°F. I use the MW or a pot on the stove for boiling water, usually to cook pasta, which involves a pot anyway.

My kettle is stored in the garage but it hasn't been used in at least a decade.
Edited to add: My mother was a tea drinker who always had either a kettle on the stove or an electric kettle on the counter.

The idea of boiling water for Pasta in a MW or for any other reason really interests me. I have never attempted to do that. How long does it take to boil water for spaghetti, for instance. Or for something as simple as boiling it for a cup of coffee? BTW, re. your picture of the kettle. I am glad they retired that one. Yours appears to be whistling, which is a plus. Mine were always silent and there were a few times when I forgot I had put them on and the result was not pleasant.

Nostalgia time: re. your Keurig. I purchased one and tried every coffee bean under the sun and never got the familiar, smooth taste of my youth in Germany that I craved.

I retired the Keurig and it has been sitting on a shelf in my storage room for months after I found out by a fluke that a much maligned (by coffee experts) Instant Coffee (Nescafe Rich, Columbian) had exactly the taste I was looking for! I just enjoyed a cup of the delicious ambrosia!

Sorry, @Old Salt I was unclear. I use the MW for small amounts like 2 cups or less. Takes a couple of minutes. Anything more, pasta water included, I boil on the stove.

Yes, my kettle is a whistler. I destroyed my share of non-whistlers over the years, too.

DH & I drink different kinds of coffee. His is fully caffeinated; I drink a cup of half caff every morning then switch to decaf, so the Keurig suits our needs perfectly. A couple of times a week we fill our rinsed out pods with the coffee we prefer, then brew it one cup at a time.

@StarSong: You weren't unclear re. the pasta. I should have known better! It would be hard to find a plastic pot to fit, or cook, 3 litres of water in a microwave. And I am not sure I would like the idea! Call me age challenged!

I'm going to leave shortly to go look at a promising mobile in a park in a few minutes. Of course I have a mandatory work meeting later.

The thing is, I already inquired about the pet policy there and they say one pet. If I have to I'll say I'm rehoming one cat which I would never do. No one can tell me there are not people int here with more than one indoor cat. They'd probably believe it because some would without a second thought. Also these park rents are sure going up!

wishing you everything you're hoping for Remy...🤞
