What are you doing today 2023

My wife was a hairdresser for all of her adult life and loved it. She kept doing it for free to the ladies of the congregations after she retired! I always enjoyed the atmosphere of the beauty salons because everybody always seemed to be in such an exuberant mood. They and their customers were like one big family.

The only thing that bothered me was the pathetic tips they received in her day. Either the clients didn't give a tip at all or they rounded up to the nearest dollar, which amounted to a quarter most of the time. It never bothered my wife, though. To her it was a labour of love.

Thank God times have changed that way. I have a hairdresser as a "barber" now and leave her outrageous tips. At first she looked at me as if I were crazy but accepts it now, since I told her it was in memory of my wife!
I give her what I think is a good tip but I don't have anything to compare it to. I hope it is because my hair is thick and she has to work harder on me. I include the whole price plus the tip in my budget so I can afford it. It is my luxury item I guess. I don't do much else.

I rode "Jazzy" to the ATM machine at the bank down the street. It was colder out than I thought. I should have worn a warmer coat and a hat. My apartment was so warm I turned the heat way down so I didn't think it was cold out. It was and windy too. The sun coming in my windows is passive solar because it heats up in here very fast. I can't stand it that warm. Next time I will dress warmer.

Today I started by attending a community session in a local church where 11 local groups made bids for a share of a potb of money that has become available. Some good projects on show - we got to vote for 4 of them and three of my chosen groups got they're money :)

Then I visited Mum in hospital again. She should be going home in the next few days then will have a care package in place for the next few weeks.

Big job this afternoon was totally emptying our kitchen so that the kitchen folks can rip it all out on Monday and begin installing the new one. Last big planned job in our new(ish) home!

Help!!! I can never find the "degrees" sign on my computer. Where is it located. Sincerely yours, dummy!
While holding down the Alt key, type in 176. Voila: °

Caught my grandson's cooties and came down with a head cold. No fever and I'm no sicker today than yesterday, two good signs. The OTC meds without acetaminophen I bought yesterday make me feel almost normal.

We're taking our two older grandkids for a few hours today. I let DD know about my cold and asked if she was ok with them coming. She said, "As long as you don't lick their faces, it should be ok - not much different from sitting next to a germy classmate."

Providing she doesn't smear chocolate frosting on their faces I should be able to keep my no-licking promise... 😎

sorry you're not well Star... I have to admit, I've been poorly myself today..still not great...got some kind of lurgy .

I sat on the sofa earlier with the blanket on me and promptly fell asleep for 3 hours..I couldn't believe it when I woke up..

Okay, let's give it a try: No, still blank. Is your computer an Apple? I held down Alt, then pressed your 0176, then released alt as instructed. Nothing showed, so I pressed enter, still nothing! What am I doing wrong?
Okay, something I just looked up. It is talking about the numbers keypad on the right of the board, something I never use, so here's trying again. "It is 25° in my apartment!" Yay, finally. I used the numbers on top of my keyboard before this and that's why it didn't work. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, @StarSong!
Now can someone tell me how to get the German "Umlaute" for oe, ae, ue. The ones with the two dots above them?

What type of beans do you use in the soup? I love what beans add to a home-made soup. Winter squash also adds a lot.
Yesterday I used canned black beans. I use whatever I have. Normally Sometimes I plan ahead and soak any kind of bean overnight. I didn’t realize I was out of a tomato based soup in the freezer so this was a listen minute pot.

Not today but tonight , and last night too, this silly old fella parked his backside in the porch with several glasses of a decent single malt to watch the 'Leonid Meteor Shower'.
Well, last night, it was so overcast and cloudy they didn't show, and right now, I'm sitting here like a lemon hoping that they will show, but, but, but, it's again overcast and cloudy...... still, the single malt is rather splendid. 😊

Have any of you fine people been lucky and manage to see the meteors? 🤔

This evening we attended the opening ceremony of the Festival of Lights at the Riverside Mission Inn, where former US Presidents have stayed overnight. Perhaps 10,000 people. We were stuck, but it was worthwhile. We admired the wonderful fireworks show, ice skating, concerts indoors and outdoors, helicopters hoovered overhead, and you name it. It was quite an event.

My son and I had a couple of hours of studio time. We're still working on the revision (actually working toward duplicating) his mix of the first celestial New Age piece I composed going on 26 years ago. In my mind it would have been easier to just use the MP3 version I had uploaded into iTunes when I had my music production program, but my son the perfectionist felt that would have limited what he could do production wise. Now I better understand why. We're almost there!

He just emailed it to me so I can listen on my computer and other devices. I am so pleased that I ran in and gave him a big hug and some kisses. He thought I was losing my mind. 😂 I also sorted clothes to get ready for my middle of the night laundry run.
