Another minor gripe about the capitalist system

Sorry, but remarks about the "extreme left" or any other political entity are not tolerated in this forum and could be a reason for being banned. Granted, it was almost guaranteed that any thread about Capitalism would lead to politics but...

Just to point out. the extreme left is an ideology not a political party. The extreme left follows an ideology of socialism, leaning marxism and in some cases communism. So you may inferred that I was referring to a certain political party, I didn't name a political party.

If my comments are a reason for being banned, then fine.
If that is the case, then many others should fall into the same category.

The concentration of wealth among the top 1% of the population has been a subject of much debate and criticism. While some argue that capitalism promotes economic growth and innovation, others argue that it exacerbates income inequality and leads to social and economic instability .
It is worth noting that the concentration of wealth among the top 1% of the population does not necessarily indicate that the country is in a deep depression. However, it can lead to social and economic instability, as it can exacerbate income inequality and limit opportunities for those who are not part of the wealthy elite.
In order to address these issues, many countries have implemented policies to redistribute wealth and provide a social safety net for those in need. These policies can help to reduce income inequality and promote social and economic stability .
"It is worth noting that the concentration of wealth among the top 1% of the population does not necessarily indicate that the country is in a deep depression." Well now you are just changing your original comment. I never said that.

Any country can alter the inequality by flooding their country with millions of poor people or attracting successful people.
The US has free open borders for the world to send us as many people they want, even help them to get to the border. In the last 3 years millions of people are streaming across our border. That would surely increase the inequality.
Is that what we are trying to achieve as a country? A race to the bottom? Where we punish successful people? If that is the case, we are doing a great job in the race to the bottom.
Any point you make using Finland, Norway, etc. as a model is false. Those countries do not let millions of people in with open borders. They do not let in criminals, rapists, terrorist groups like the US does. Countries are emptying their jails and sending them to the US border. You think Norway and Finland and Sweden are doing that? No.

Its no wonder successful people are leaving the country.
No need to go back and forth when your basic premise is we need to punish successful people. The problem we have in this country is people want handouts, not work. Terrorists organizations are coming here and getting free housing, free food, free medical, cell phones, etc. Is that what we want?

1. I never brought up the country being in a deep depression. You first asserted that here : Another minor gripe about the capitalist system

2. this statement is not true. The US does not have free open borders for the world to send as many people as they want. The US has immigration laws and policies that regulate the entry of foreign nationals into the country 1.

In fact, the US has been implementing strict border control measures to prevent unauthorized entry into the country. For instance, the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has been using various technologies and tools to secure the US borders, including drones, cameras, and sensors 1.

According to the CBP, the number of people apprehended at the US-Mexico border has been increasing since 2020, but it is not true that
millions of people are streaming across the border 1. In addition, there is no evidence to suggest that immigration increases inequality

I can't find any evidence that this is happening. Maybe you could provide evidence of which countries and the impact it is having on the economy?

4. It is not true that terrorist organizations are coming to the US and getting free housing, free food, free medical, cell phones, etc123.

Regarding the claim that people want handouts, not work, it is important to note that this is a complex issue that cannot be reduced to a simple binary. While there may be some individuals who abuse the welfare system, there are also many people who rely on social safety net programs to make ends meet during difficult times 1.

It is worth noting that social safety net programs have been shown to reduce poverty and inequality, and provide a lifeline for millions of people in need

Your number 2 (pun intended), if true, explain more than 3 million illegals already i the country and thousands more pouring over the border every week....yes, we have laws, but no one is enforcing them.

I have another one ...

On my c/card statement from Bob Evans restaurant [carry-out,that was supposed to be curb-side pick up] What is a "Third Party Fee" ?
$1.90 charged. I think it is the curb-side pick fee .... which as I noted , curb-side was not available. Walk in/carry-out only . Now when I call to inquire , I am put on hold and told the manager is "with a customer" .... I'll keep calling.

Illegal immigration is a complex issue that has been a matter of intense debate in the United States for decades. According to Statista, the population of unauthorized immigrants in the United States has been estimated to be around 11.39 million people 1. However, it is important to note that this number has seemingly stabilized after a period of rapid growth.

In recent years, the amount of alien encounters by the United States Border Patrol has significantly increased, with 2,214,652 registered alien apprehensions and expulsions recorded in 2022 1. In addition, there were 568 immigrant deaths recorded near the southwest border in the U.S., the greatest number reported by the United States Border Patrol since 1998, suggesting that illegal immigration may be on the rise again 1.

It is worth noting that the issue of illegal immigration is a multifaceted one, and there are many factors that contribute to it. Some of these factors include economic opportunities, political instability, and social unrest in the countries of origin of the immigrants 2.

As for the enforcement of laws, the United States has a complex system of immigration laws and regulations, and the enforcement of these laws is carried out by various agencies, including the United States Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) 3. However, the issue of illegal immigration is a complex one, and there are many factors that contribute to it. Do you actually read what you copy/paste?

I would not have titled the thread with "capitalism" but rather "excessively wealth seeking". And more narrowly with criticism against Wall Street and their university Ivory Tower elites that dominates many Western nation societal narratives.

The thread drifted into the subject of excessive illegal immigration that certainly affects the subject. And it is true Wall Street due to their selfish, inconsiderate, myopic unrestrained global economy capitalistic goals, has had a primary roll in influencing politicians and media in keeping our borders open and not enforcing Visa overstays for their own financial benefit while understanding the average American citizen strongly is against such. And that in turn has resulted in societal ills as a huge wealth gap, non-functional political divisions, societal cultural divisions, homelessness, horrendous real estate inflation, endless growth and development causing global warming, and more.

I've never seen anyone reprimanded or posts deleted discussing general ideology. There are a lot of swipes taken by different 'teams' that are left up. I've always thought of the politics rule as meaning no discussion of specific parties or politicians.

The essence of Capitalism, or Free Enterprise as I prefer to call it, is take your business elsewhere if you don’t like the quality, selection, price, or service. It works and has proven to produce a thriving economy from which we all benefit.
However, it is my belief that our "Free Enterprise" has to be reigned in a bit. There is too much greed, corruption, collusion at the moment. In the effort (as one example) to please stockholders we have been getting wages that are sub-par!

For those of us over seventy we still remember the times when it took only one person in a household to support the family. Now you're out of luck if both partners don't work.

In Canada, as I reported in another post, the big grocery chains collude to produce maximum profit for their wares! Then there is the shameless deception, rarely noticed by many consumers, of reducing size and/or quality of products over a period of time.
Only last night I was silently cursing to myself when I ate my yoghurt! The little tubs have been getting tinier by the year and I was desperately looking for the cherries in the "cherry" yoghurt. Only a couple of years ago they were plentiful, now they've been replaced by "natural flavour!"

Only recently I wrote a protest email to a processor of pickled herring in wine sauce (my daughter says Yech! to that :)), something I had regularly bought for years. Not only had the jar gotten smaller but now, instead of getting satisfying lovely chunks of herring, the jar contained more onions than fish. And the fish was in little bits and pieces to hide the reversal of roles. If it had happened to me once I would have thought, oh well, production errors will occur now and then but this was after I had bought at least three "more onion than fish" over a period of three months.

I told the company at the same time that I would refuse any compensation, no free fish, no coupons of any kind because I wanted them to take my complaint seriously.

However I am so disillusioned with my fellow shoppers that I really don't think anything will change. Too many act like sheep: "Oh, well, what can you do? That's the way things are!" This saddens me, there's simply too little resistance to a free enterprise system that's gotten more greedy than tolerable over the years.

By the way, all too many are getting socialism mixed up with communism! They are NOT the same. It wouldn't do us one bit of harm to imitate most of Europe when it comes to that.

Did the Manager call you? What was his response?

It is the same everywhere. When people say, "Oh well what can one person do", I say, "There are 50,000 "one persons". If you all wrote to your elected politician on a daily basis, imagine his reaction.
He would be forced to do something. The apathy of the people really saddens me because that attitude ensures very little will change.
I constantly write to businesses that are gouging the public but receive scant regard from them.
"Market forces, plenty of specials et al.
I will continue to write, as I am also writing for the apathetic public.

Sorry, but it's all about size. Don't take Finland, or Norway, take Europe as a whole. What is the evidence that says the US are having a larger immigrant problem than anyone else? Your language about "rapists and terrorists groups" is ridiculous rhetoric fueled by right-wing propaganda. Frankly, it's beyond contempt. If you want to have a serious discussion of the topic, then get your head out of the sand, and step away from the Kool aid.

This post is a perfect example of how extreme views curtail serious debate and discussion. If "successful people" want to leave a country because times are tough, good riddance. We all know that the top 1% are in no trouble, and don't feel 1% of what your normal working man does. Leave the mess for others to clear up, I guess. Mis-information, extremist political views, so called free thinkers soaking up the bile of third rate political commentators, will be the death of a nation. I'm forever amazed at how "free thinkers" say the same things over and over, as though they've been indoctrinated.
