What are you doing today 2023

Yesterday I baked enough for both of us, so don't feel bad. 4 batches of biscotti and a few hundred ginger molasses and a few hundred chocolate walnuts. Some of the rugelach dough I made and froze week is now defrosting in the fridge. After breakfasting and hitting the store for a few things, I'll be strapping my apron back on.

wow...we are not worthy,

@debodun I’m in the same state as you but you’re doing something about it. I have a feeling I threw some old photos away during a sorting and they might have had a significance to someone.

DH is dealing with all his old photos in an orderly fashion.

I joined a gym today. It is an enormous, intimidating place. I don't know what to do first. I found out my iphone7 is too old to update to IOS 16 and hence, I can't load the app for this gym. I'll just work it out with the front desk for a while; I like my phone. Anyway, looking forward to becoming familiar with this gym. I'm thankful for the distraction it will provide.

@hollydolly I was just admiring my solar garden lights and thought of you and our watering can lights. They all stay bright and cheery for hours and hours in summer, but in winter? Sigh. They'll be fading or faded by 10:( In the summertime when I go out to the patio with my coffee at 4am, they're still lit.

@birdy I admire your willingness to join a gym. Not me! I figure, heck, I get enough exercise at work. And an app? That right there would have me running into the street clutching at my face and tearing my hair. Not one more app. Not. One. Nope.

that's a thought Gigi.... it gets dark here at 4pm..and really no sun after 3pm.... it's now 11.20pm...so I'm going now to look and see if the watering cans are still lit BRB

ETA...you're right, they're not lit..in fact none of my Solar flowers are lit , but then I realised it's been pouring of rain all day long so they wouldn't have got powered anyway... the only things that's lit out there are my path lights...

@hollydolly After December 21, the days will be getting longer again (by maybe a minute a day) so we'll get to enjoy them again. Providing the rain doesn't come down for days at a time. There's still plenty of solar energy even on cloudy days, just not endless days of rain.

About those rays on cloudy days...when I was little and living in Hawaii, we spent an entire day at Diamond Head beach on an overcast day. I got a second degree sunburn. Pobrecita.

My goodness Cookie-Mama!

I had a friend who used to make these:

This traditional Swedish Pepparkakor Recipe makes deliciously crisp spice cookies with ginger, cinnamon, cardamom and clove. They're a Scandinavian Christmas tradition and they're absolutely fabulous!
I would leave out the cinnamon and increase the cardamom, personally.

I wish I could taste your biscotti Star. We got almond ones from Costco when they were on sale a couple of months ago. Real good to have with my tea. If I had done all you did, I'd be worn out! 😵‍💫

I did some accounting for me and my son in the early a.m. My son was off today so I had him take me to the N.J. Tax office to see if I could get a pin so I could apply for the ANCHOR program, explained in the thread linked below:
I Am Entitled To Anchor $$$ But Can't Get Through To The New Jersey State Agency
Things went better than expected. I was waited on fairly quickly and the agent, who was so nice and helpful, gave me an application to fill out. I needed her assistance for part of it. I prepared by bringing everything I thought I would need, including a digital copy of my 2020 state taxes and the statement of property taxes paid for our units. It didn't show on my tax return and I found out from the agent it was because my taxable income was zero. Oddly though, it showed on their copy.

I was fortunate enough to be able to complete the application there. For some unknown reason the Lot and Block numbers were also missing on my return, but she was able to look it up and fill in that part. So applications for 2020 (the current tax year they are sending out payments for) and 2019, which I inquired about after hearing another lady mention hers, were submitted by the agent. I told her how very helpful she was and thanked her. I could tell she really appreciated that feedback.

After we left, my son decided to take an exit that led straight into town. On the way, we were to pass a KFC. I've been wanting their cole slaw for quite awhile. I convinced him to stop and I got the large size. I had some with dinner....so good. It's still my favorite cole slaw. I took a nap this afternoon into the evening and started watching MIB: International when I woke up.

yes all my solar flowers were fine last winter.. it's just the watering cans that are new , so it'll be interesting to see how they cope here in the Northern hemisphere

Shopping day again. Home Bargains, ASDA (beside each other) then to Lidl and Tesco (again, beside each other but on the other side of town), on to the bypass and home again - car loaded with shopping, and pockets empty of money! At least all the stores have large free car parks.

Off to Germany at the weekend, so starting to look out winter clothing to pack.

It snowed during the night. I know this because at 3:30 AM the snowplow woke me up. Right next to the building this loud blaring noise just starts. I am sure everyone on this side of the building heard it. I went back to sleep but a lot of people here have trouble sleeping so probably was disturbing to them.

My plan today is to continue working on my storage locker. I am making progress in my apartment but I have much more to do. Sun is shining so might be a pleasant day.
