What is your #1 downside of getting older Other than pain/ill health?

Accepting the fact that my mind has the will, but the body doesn't.
this is an interesting thing to me. Lois, what happens, when the body stops working as it should?.. I'd love to know..I mean do you get up one day and go to lift the shopping bag and you suddenly cant ...or you go to go for a walk, and you find you can only walk half the distance.. what happens ?

hair growing out of ears and nose, hairy eyebrows,,any one looking for a werewolf?
I don’t know about a werewolf, @jet, but my eyebrows right before a wax job can rival those of a Russian Dictator

Loosing strength is a booger too… can’t use a manual can opener anymore

Not including health issues, it is losing touch with friends along the way. I think of the many friends I have had. It seems they are leaving my life because they are aging, or dying, or whatever else starts making the relationship weaker. I only have about 2 or 3 close friends anymore ( in real life ), that is what makes this forum such a great place. It gives me and others the opportunity to have fairly strong relationships.

I have painful arthritis in my hands which means it's painful for me to grip but I can still use this can opener...

No, Holly, it is a slow and insidious process. First, it's the little things, then suddenly you can't do the dance moves you were able to once. Then, I wasn't able to even wield a fencing sword as easily as before. It suddenly weighed a ton. Well, you get the idea. By the time I hit 90, I just accepted the fact that I ain't as young as my mind insists it is. lol.

The last of my pets will probably outlive me and need someone to care for them.
Do you have any extended family or friends you can ask ahead of time. We asked our extended family if they’d care for our pets if anything happened to us. We agreed to do the same for them. It’s a huge concern for us.

Note: I didn’t fully read the question .
My pets mean the world to me so we have implemented options in case anything ever happens to us.

Marci..I've had lobster a few times, none less than in the top rated Ivy restaurant in London, which is a celebrity hangout... I am here to tell you, don't waste your money.. really it's absolutely nothing special...

Truer words were never spoken. If you ever get to taste some Dungeness crab which is in season now in California you will never order lobster again. My introduction wasn't in a great restaurant but it was in a pretty ideal location for it sitting on granite slabs near the ocean on Deer Isle Maine at the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts. The school and its dormitories is fitted into the natural landscape and there is a lobsterman with his boat and traps right next door. But they arranged a lobster feed right out there one time while we were there. I've been a few times as a 'trailing spouse' when my wife would teach a short weaving class. Beautiful in the summer.

Only the last of these is our photo taken by one of her students of my wife, myself and her teaching assistant who was also her grad student back in California. But these borrowed photos take me back to really good times.

I could have it if I wanted to, it;s nothing more than OK.. and I wouldn't spend money on it..
To me it's mostly the butter. Many things would taste pretty good if dipped in butter.
