What’s everyone’s opinion of Snug Safety, positives or negatives, how you use it?

Seems as if it may be okay if someone doesn't have anyone close to them to do the same daily check-in. It sure wouldn't work for me, though, because my phone is always in my purse and turned off. If someone really would need help, I figure they'd either call for it, or wouldn't be physically able to answer the check-in anyhow. 🤷‍♀️ So it looks like this service calls for help when there's not a check-in answer? What if the person doesn't have the phone on them to answer? The police come knocking?

Okay, I read a little more about it. While I think having someone check on the elderly is an excellent idea, I don't think this free app (or even the paid version) checking in once a day would be very beneficial. If someone would have fallen or became ill in some way, it could be 24 hours or more until this app would ask for a check-in. What do YOU think, Sparty?

Kate, I’m looking at it real close, because, I research everything, one reason I like it is, you can control some of it by clicking the daily check mark. I do intend to carry my cellphone on me, because it has the SOS 911 feature. I am currently evaluating who I give keys to,and my garage door opener code. This is all new, so, I do want to be checked on more, because, I’m alone now.

I have Simpli Safe panic buttons throughout my house.
Bedroom, living room, workshop, garage....one press and the police are on their way.
Simpli Safe lets you test them. They call you when they know you are doing a test.
Got to give them a 'safe' word when they call just in case you are under duress.
Thank you, I definitely will check Simpli safe, is this a fee program?
might be better off with that personal alarm necklace
are you talking about Life Alert?

No, not free......
The equipment is around $300.
Its a home security company.
One of their services is panic buttons that use the same equipment as the security system.
Monthly fee is 17.99
I also have a 100$ savings on my homeowners insurance annually because I have the system.
The panic buttons are $25 each.

I live alone. I figured that if I needed help, I'd just call 911. That assumes you are going to wide, alert, and competent. That ain't always going to happen. I found myself on the floor, I was halucinating, and I couldn't remember there was a phone 10 inches from my head. Thankfully, a visiting nurse found me and called 911. If she hadn't been scheduled for a visit, it's a good chance I wouldn't be here.
So, I got Snug. I'm in PA., they will call my brother in Mass. if don't check in by a certain time. and then a wellness check. For the few bucks it costs ( I opted for the $20/year, instead of the free plan), it's damn worth it.
The services, that require you to push a button to call for help, fail if the batteries die. I had one of those call pendants on me. It had a "fall" notification. I was on the floor, and it never went off. I was getting bills and activity reports for six months after I threw it away.

Thank you, that was very useful, you encountered all the typical scenario’s, all of us are concerned about, very informative!

Well my stepfather asked me to call him daily to check on him. He got the idea from his niece. After calling and he didn't answer because "I forgot" more than once, I was done with it. I drove to his place to find him fine. Some day he won't be since he's 94 but with his hearing impairment it doesn't work. And he REFUSES to learn to text.

I plan to use more than one, on my iPhone is a feature called SOS emergency call, where you can call 911, you of course, would have to have your cellphone with you at all times. The other issue to consider, is entry into your home, which I’m researching now. There are so many of us in this category, it is certainly worth, checking everything!

They don't call you .... you have to respond to their app button, within a certain timeframe.

If they don't get that response within 2-3 hours, they then will call your emergency contact that you provide to them when you sign up for the service.
It doesn't involve the police.

Add this to Snug. Safety, cell phone with case around your neck, then purchase this for outside, your own combination, emergency services having this code, entry into the house without breaking anything.

I use the free Snug app and I love it! If I don't check in everyday it sends my sister a message and she knows to come check on me. I was worried too if something happened because I have a cat that would need to be taken care of.
First of all, welcome to senior forums, from sparty60, I was wondering if you were considering something as a backup for emergency services like a lockbox next to your entry door, if you passed out, plus if you have an IPhone like myself, I wear my iPhone with a lanyard around my neck to access SOS emergency services? At my age, I need to have more than one.

I’ve actually been using Circle Alert for my mom, who lives alone, and I like it better than Snug for a few reasons. With Circle Alert, you can set up multiple check-ins throughout the day instead of just one, which makes me feel better knowing she’s checked in more often. Plus, you can add up to three contacts, so if I’m not available, someone else can get notified.

It’s been working well for us, and my mom finds it pretty easy to use. Just thought I’d share in case anyone’s looking for other options!

My children and I play the NY Times (free) word games every morning, first thing. We like Wordle, Connections, and Strands. If they don't hear from me by about 10, they start texting. It's a fun way to do a safety check, and they would play the games anyway.

Also, I wear an alarm around my neck.
