What have you bought recently?

Part of a post on the what are you doing thread:

DD and I are probably going to go to Kohl's to shop for free today with my Kohl's cash. There's nothing I need or want, but it's either use it or lose it. $70-ish is too much to lose. Maybe there's something that will speak to one of us. Our Kohl's is right next door to Ross. While we're there, we should just pop into Ross to make sure there's nothing there that wants to go home with us. Wait. Kohl's is free. Ross is the money💸that I said I'd 🛑spending.

LOL Note to self: stay out of Ross today. You are getting perilously close to circling the financial drain.

Out of curiosity what's the difference between a small AC unit and an electric fan ?
The ones I saw on Amazon are evaporative mini air conditioners. They are small in size and not vented to the outside. Some are USB. This is what this one said in the description: "BALKO mini air conditioner combines a fan (without water or ice), a humidifier (with water), and portable air conditioners (with ice), all packed into a compact body. The astounding cooling features are attributed to the built-in water cooling pad. Simply add water or an ice cube, and watch as it rapidly converts hot airflow into a refreshing cool breeze, indulge in the pleasure of a revitalizing cool breeze."

Didn't spend any money except for a birthday card for my brother and one for DSIL. That doesn't count, does it?

We went to Kohl's and managed to spend the Kohl's cash. There was a difference of $13 and change which DD paid because one of the things we got was a top for her. It was on sale and there was an additional 20% off but still came to around $35 so she paid the $$13+. I spent $0. Yay me.

We did pop into Ross. DGD needed a knitted cap/matching scarf for her Secret Santa gift at work. It was the first thing we spied inside the front door and Calvin Klein to boot! SS gift limit $20, and that's Ross' marked down price. Win.

You'd have been proud of me in Ross...well, in Kohl's, too...for not spending any money. Kohl's cash isn't like spending real money.

I bought a small grocery haul and had it delivered..not something I would usually do...

I bought some batteries from Amazon for my solar radio... we're being told that we're likely to have power cuts and shortages this winter...

I bought myself a cookbook for Christmas. DH and I usually buy our own now with maybe a little surprise like favorite candy.
This cookbook is on traditional foods cooking. There is a curriculum to go along with it so that if my grandchildren move up here and are home schooled I can teach them classes on this way of cooking.

Now, I said IF they move up here. They've sold their home but the new house under contract was inspected and many things have come up that they may not want to tackle.
I guess if worse comes to worse they could rent here or purchase there. I choose rent here since there main goal is to move to NC. They would have time to look for the "forever" home. They have places to stay until they can find an appropriate rental.

Until then, I'll be like this guy:

What have I spent today? Um. $4 on five tamales from the deli. That's it. Yup. That's all I spent. And no, I didn't eat all five of them, just two.

I didn't actually buy anything, but I did spend a boatload of money at UPS to ship DSD's birthday/Christmas gift. A boatload isn't as much as a shitload or a crapton, but it was a lot.

It's a 20"x20" backlit picture on canvas of an old camper van all decorated for Christmas. DSD's birthday isn't until January, but I wanted her to have it to hang up because...Christmas! They are a camping family, and I do mean camping. Their camper stays at the campground all year round even though the campground closes, depending on the weather, between the first and the end of October and doesn't open up again until April 1. During the season, they're out there. In summer, since they both work for the school system, they're more likely to be found camping than at home.

I spent more than a week trying to find a box the right size or a box that I could cut down but no soap and even carried a measuring tape to work with me all week to measure any box that looked like it might be a candidate. Having UPS take care of the whole shebang was all I could do, and the cost of packing and shipping was more than twice the cost of the picture:eek:

Told DD/DSIL that I took out a second mortgage on their house to pay for it :ROFLMAO: They said that was fine because she'll have that picture to hang up at Christmas for years and years.

I'm getting broke-r💸 and broke-r 💸

My diffuser is fake wood. I go through phases where I use it a lot, then not at all. I think in Winter I use it more, putting in mint and eucalyptus. I bought some cherry I had high hopes for but I far prefer even grapefruit to that.
