Going through a mid-life crisis

Guess you can't take it with you, but where do you draw the line?

The 'line' you are looking for is different from mine or anyone else's. Your line, like all others', is where you find it and are comfortable with that. I was happy with anything that kept me from having to use the public bus and wasn't a 'hey, look at me car'. I did not need the publicity.

One of my kids is still single, approaching his 40th before he knows it. He's had good jobs, and he has a 2nd car not quite approaching that category. I worry a little but he's supporting himself and not in any kind of trouble. So I don't offer unsolicited advice.

My youngest son, mid thirties, is still single as well. I think this younger generation has a different mindset. He travels a bit and has close friends. Happy is as happy does.

I've never been into cars. They're a vehicle to get me from A to B, that's all. Of course, I drove company cars which took away a lot of choice, but even so I just don't get excitement from fancy cars. My mid-life crisis was more existential.

If it runs, and gets my butt down the road, I'm OK with that. I've never been a car nut. I've noticed that in October, when you see a guy in a little sporty convertible, he's old and bald. If it's a she, she's 'blond" and "tan" with skin that looks like leather. I drive a Hyundai, I'm old with thinning hair.

Yeah, I hear that. Even this is "sportier" than I was after, but these days they make more off SUVs so normal cars are getting thin on the ground.

Coming up on 6 years old now, but still getting 40 mpg. Not bad for a non-hybrid.

I did "customize" it: I replaced the orange side-lights with clear (with orange bulbs). :ROFLMAO:

I've always been a car person. I think it comes from my dad that worked at the Chevrolet plant in the town where I was raised and every October, we'd go to Detroit for the new car show. I could tell you every make and model back then but now everything looks the same.

My late husband and I owned a lot of cars/trucks over the years. Here's a few and the last one is the truck he leased 6 months before he died. Actually, the Corvair was like my very first car.
