Wear a wig or not?

@fancicoffee13 we have women at work that wear wigs so they don't hafta do their hair so you do what you feel comfy with. some older gals i know wear them for cosmetic reasons.
Exactly, and sometimes you have a bad hair day and the wig is a quick fix. That is if you don't have anything against wearing a wig.

Can anyone explain why certain sects within the Jewish religion require the women to wear wigs ? Anyone know why this is done ? JimB.
married jewish women are required to cover their hair in the presence of men other than their husbands.
I had no idea. I know about Muslim women having to cover their hair but did not know about the Jewish. Don’t the Jewish men have some type of rule regarding their heir, maybe their beards.?

Whole different senario there, for sure!!!!!
Not really. A religious edict that demands that the faithful who are women, cover their hair with "something ". It isn't that long ago in the USA that Catholic women wore a scarf or chantilly over their hair at Mass. The Amish and the Old Order Mennonites also require the female members to cover their heads with a specific type of bonnet when outside of their homes. Can you see a common thread in this religious behavior ?

It may come as a surprise to you, but in the middle east in the 50's and 60's in Iran and Iraq, women dressed in a modern western fashion, with no head coverings at all. During the rein of the Shah of Iran his wife dressed in the latest French fashions from Paris. The change came when the Islamic Republican Guard took over the country, and enforced strict Islamic religious practices. The Hijab is a choice, not a requirement for Islamic women. Wearing a complete face covering with just the eyes exposed and a head to foot robe is an example of an ultra oxthodox Muslim women, whose husband strictly controls her life. JimB.

There are a number of sects within the overall Jewish faith, that require the males to dress in a specific way, with specific types of hats coats and shirts, and other visible signs of faith. Ultra Orthodox Jews are the most noticeable in terms of their clothing and how they live. The more modern and conservative Jews still observe their religion, but they also tend to be more involved in our society as a whole. The Ultra Orthodox Jews live within walking distance of their place of worship, and that results in very dense populations. Certain types of businesses are dominated by Jews, such as the diamond trade.

Several religions have things they do to symbolize that they are married. Usually hair coverings, beards, certain forms of dress. I am not sure if they wear jewelry so this is sort of in place of that I think.

Also I think some of them may consider it a sensual act to expose their hair.

When I think of how other women around the world are still owned, I feel very grateful.

My last neighbour wore a few wigs. Hers were so real looking, that it took me years to figure out her real hair colour etc. Not that it was any of my business, but every style really suite her. Some wigs look really nice. Look at Julia Robert’s in that movie where she was a hooker turned Princess. lol 😆

When I lived in North York ( Yonge & sheppard area, I noticed quite a few men dressed really differently, definitely old fashioned. When I lived there, I actually used to take the bus so had the privilege of meeting some. Many looked like this.

I could literally feel their displeasure in seeing me. There was something about me that these guys did not like. At times, I’d be scared to walk past them. The ‘dislike’ was physically felt. I’ve got to admit that at times I’ve been very intimidated by them.

I wore a wig when having chemo. It did look nice but yes, they are hot and itchy. The first thing I would do after leaving work was to pull it off.

Ok, I was wrong and thank you for all the information. I stand corrected.

There are some people on television, one time they have short hair and the next time they have long hair and I know very well it doesn't grow that fast. On Foodnetwork, there is a lady on there that wears beautiful hair and I know or highly suspect they are wigs.

After my daughter was born in 89, my hair fell out in chunks. Never found out why but husband got me a beautiful wig, original colour and length.

I had to wear it for 6 months, no one outside us and my OB/GYN. It was real hair, easy maintenance and was a rental.

I also wore various ones during ballet-jazz recitals. I'd love to find a S&P for just now...Maybe next year!

I owned a few wigs when I lived up north. It was fun being able to change my look instantly. Then I moved to Florida and it was noooo waaay I'm wearing a wig in this heat.

Now, my hair is getting so thin, I'm seriously thinking about looking into getting one again.
Exactly, that's the way it goes. Go for it.

I started wearing wigs when I was in my 30's. I just got tired of dealing with my hair, especially when I got up late for work. One day I went in the store looking for another wig and the proprietor asked me why on earth I needed a wig with all the hair I had on my head. 🤓 After awhile, I got tired of wearing them.

My sister and I started having thinning hair on top a few years ago. Leaving it natural and cutting it really short solved the problem for me, not to mention I cover my hair in public anyway. My sister bought a very nice wig and I think it enhanced her appearance. I've seen cute wigs and thought about trying them, but there's no point. I think if you feel they would do something for your spirit you should go ahead and do it Fanci.
Heck, go crazy. Get a couple and you can change your hairstyle in an instant. 😍

Nope no hair hat for me.
A hair hat. Thats a good way to put it.
I don’t like many things over my head. In summer I happily tolerate a denim baseball cap, hoods aren’t as bad. I feel the same way about jewelry. It ‘s a constant annoyance to me. Maybe it’s an ocd thing. lol

Thank you, Diva. I have bought one that is to my liking and I don't have to depend on what others think. I like it, it short like my hair is usually short. I do have thinning hair on the top of my head and this is an easy way to take care of that. I also have a medium length one in a different color and I wear that one once in a while. I am a free spirited girl you might say.
