2024 - How's the Weather Where You Are?

I have about 6 inches of snow on my car and in driveway-it is 22 degrees here and they expect more snow -with a warm up Monday. Two neighbors yesterday called me who are not going to their church today, and two seniors from my church called me to say the same. They both live at a much lower elevation than I do, but the predictions were intimidating!

East of me, and north east NY seemed to have gotten a lot more snow then we did here but the day is not over yet.

Amazon delivered my Friday order yesterday , which was scheduled for today, and I planned to clean off my car when I went out to bring the boxes in, but instead I went out back and cleaned off my TV dish-which already was half full of snow.

I sure didn't want to have to clean the TV dish off when I got up today-I get up very early and it is a little tricky to hold a flashlight in the dark and also maneuver a broom, to clean that out.

I am glad you always chime in on NY weather ,Debodon.

This site shows some high amounts in NY, and NJ
How much snow fell in New York City, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut
but I think there are some much higher, or will be higher today.

The weather channels are always the first ones I click on when I get up.
But the locals always say -if you dont like the weather, wait 20 minutes and it will probably change.

I live on what was a dirt road when I moved up and I have a photo of new corn ,that fell from the farm planters, growing in the road. More cows than people. Now we have a nice paved road.

Check your forecasts, folks. A large swath of the Eastern half of the US may get a lot of snow soon, and the models suggest 10 inches of snow in many large bands. More southerly than you might imagine too.

We had snow last night and the ground is covered this morning. Supposed to get up to 40 degrees today, that will melt the snow. Of course, we are expecting another major snow fall Monday night through Tuesday night. That is typical for Kansas City, Missouri this time of year. It never lasts very long, just enough to make it cold and messy for a day or two.

I went out this morning and put the blade on my tractor. Depending upon how this next front comes through Monday evening into
Tuesday, we could get as much as 6 inches of snow. We will be lucky to see daytime highs above freezing during the next 2 weeks....looks like Winter will hit strongly over the next 2 or 3 weeks. What I miss is the sunshine...we haven't had Any since New Years day.

Woke up to find a dusting of snow on the ground. It wasn't forecast.
How come, with all the modern radar, etc. - forecasting is often wrong?
Wind power. Those turbine towers are becoming a serious problem for the weather radar systems.

Broken forecasting models. Heavy thumbs on the scale tweaking parameters to drum up "facts" to support agendas.

I'm wondering that too. Yesterday a neighbour came and cleared my driveway, we had about 2 cm of snow overnight. Half hour after he was done we had "big" snowflakes coming down for a moment and then all day snow on and off, yet there was nothing on the radar!!! Today same story and it seems to go on like this until Tuesday/Wednesday, when we apparently will get quite a heavy snow (maybe)! But sofas there is not much snow on the ground.
And after that the Polar Vortex comes down and will put us in a "deep freeze" of -28C/-35C for about a week!!!

Finally a Sunny day with Blue skies...☀️☀️..but very cold....
The rain has eased off in the South too, but the flooding that it's left is horrendous. My niece, that's my brother's daughter, lives on the edge of Bournemouth. We were there along with my brother and his wife, it was my niece's little one's birthday. Later we travelled the few miles across Hurn to a rather good gastro-pub where I had previously booked a table for Sunday lunch. Getting there was like a military exercise.

Out of view is a sign showing: "Road Closed." The tanker truck that you can see is, I'm guessing, clearing blocked drains to allow flood water to drain away faster. We turned around but the alternative route was no better. Thankfully we eventually got through but what a day!

yes it's horrendous in so many places. ..people have their cars written off, and their homes destroyed... I'm fortunate in that I live on the top of a hill, but driving to the bottom means driving through the floods, and all the trees down. Tonight I've just seen the gritters out so it's going to be minus something ...

Today in London...
