I got back from my one night trip to NYC last night, it was almost midnight when I got home because the train was an hour delayed (there were other trains but my ticket was a cheap deal item and I'd have had to pay twice as much to buy a different ticket).

I'm kind of laughing at myself now, I planned and prepped and worried like I was going to Mars, but everything was just fine. The hotel really was in easy walking distance and I could even (reassuringly) see its sign from the train station corner. There were no bedbugs, the room was sparkly clean (tho had rather quaintly antique doors, knobs, and faucets), there was a nice view of the city, and I slept fine.

Other than first going the wrong direction on the subway, then being in the wrong subway line in a more correct direction, before finally learning to read the signs and boards and train markings and ride the right one in the correct direction, traveling around was very doable. Nobody tried to mug me, the New Yorkers were not rude at all, and one nice born-and-raised-in-Brooklyn person helped me when I didn't know how to tap my credit card to pay for the bus - and when it didn't work after a couple tries she told me to just go ahead and sit down, that I had "tried" and that was good enough! The bus driver didn't seem to mind either. o_O

The helpful person also let me know when it was my stop to get off and while chatting I'd mentioned how people ignored the crosswalk signs and she said in New York that is normal and okay, so I tried ignoring them myself (when safe to do so), I felt so lawless!

Completely by random luck I arrived at the Met museum 5 minutes before a free museum tour started, and although it felt at times like I was in a marathon walking race through a maze, it was a very nice tour.

Then I walked across Central Park to get back to the subway stop. Trying to walk through the park was almost as confusing as the subway system, because the paths kept curving away from the direction I wanted to go, thank goodness for smart phones and apps that guide a person places (tho I realize now I spent so much time staring at my phone I missed out on seeing the park itself).

View from my hotel room, and my attempt at a selfie in Central Park (which turns out to have a lake!). I think my arms are too short to do selfies.

Look how cute you are!

Happy you had a nice time. NY'rs are nice.
Next time enjoy more of Central Park; it's beautiful.

Walked while on the phone with my BFF this morning. Need to dance for at least 25 minutes tonight to reach my desired exercise time for the day. I finally fixed the mess in one of my check books. I only use that account for Cash App and small Zelle transactions, so wasn’t keeping up with it like I should. I had to go through six months of statements to be sure transactions were all accounted for and my current balance is accurate.

Studio time tonight. My son requested to hear the bass track soloed on the Clavinova. I played around with the effects and found what I like so that he could hear what I want the bass to sound like when he mixes the song in Logic. He came up with an easier idea than trying to find similar effects in the program. He’ll just re-transfer that track with the effects already on it. I was able to “kill two birds with one stone”, as they say. While listening to the mix and telling my son what adjustments to make, I used my confidential ID stamp on about 50 pill bottles so that I could finally get rid of them. They sat around in a bag for months, taking up valuable space.

I'm so glad you had nice accommodations, remained safe and enjoyed your trip HoneyNut. You rode the subway...you're a real New Yorker now. :ROFLMAO: Over the last couple of weeks, there were two subway accidents...I'm glad nothing like that happened when you rode. Thank you for posting the pictures. You're looking good and love the city lights.

Arctic blast arrives Saturday evening

Nice day here, but the forecast is for snow over the next few days. We had planned to shop on Tuesday, but did a bit of shopping this morning just in case the road conditions were bad next week.
I've got longish arms, but I've never taken a 'selfie'. I know what I look like so I see no need.
yes but the rest of us might not know what you look like lol...

In all seriousness when you have no partner or no family.. then there's no-one to take a picture of you... so all Hail the selfie is what I say...

Glad you had a good time that means you will be back again. I think your selfie came out just fine. You look like you are very happy there.

It rained hard all night. Was 45 degrees when I got up and still is the same. Turned my heat way down as I am hot already. Today I have to do laundry and not sure what else. Rain or not I have to go outside today. I didn't get out yesterday, though I did go down to our storage room. Everyone keeps telling me bad weather is coming but so far it is only rain and wind. I know better than to trust it though as February is usually a bad month.

Weather is so mixed up.
Yesterday rain, snow rain & wind.

Today we have small snow flakes & wind.

A large apple tree came down at our nephews.
Hubby's brother called wanting him to set the tree back up with the backhoe.

Problem is the backhoe is still over where hubby has been cutting trees.
Hubby wants to get the logs out before backhoe comes home.

Am hoping that hubby's brother helps him get the backhoe & logs home.

I woke up early and had to clean off my TV dish, at about 5:30 AM , full of snow. Not easy with a flashlight and broom- but I wanted to check the weather as soon as I could.. I took a photo about 2 hours ago of the snowfall but now the sun is out and everything is melting slowly- good thing because my PC satelitte dish, high up on my porch roof, also was full of snow and I had to wait for that to melt.

I got a lot done this AM so far, the little things that can pile up, did some sewing and cleaning, and maybe need to get a new flashlight. Where I live it is pitch dark at night if there is a cloud cover and I always take two flashlights with me, in case,if one falls into the snow, and disappears, I have a back up. I had put another flashlight into a bright red plastic grocery tote, and when I brought in the tote ,the flashlight wasn't in it. There was about 4 inches of snow but later I bet I can find it- maybe....

A few years ago I found a key in my driveway from a car , a key that we lost decades ago, in the snow. I had the driveway graveled a few times since then but gravel can move in a rainstorm, and we had to call a locksmith to use the car.

Several Forum members cooked lentil soups recently. My wife did as well. She simmered bones from the Christmas Ham in a crockpot and used the broth as base for a delicious lentil soup. She likes it bland, but I added more spices. And since lentils are super healthy, I even bought some canned lentil soups. For the pups, I divided the ham bones into smaller pieces for easier chewing. Some of my earlier dogs had the tip of their teeth broken off from chewing bones.

Don't know where to put this question, so I'll just ask here... all you mechanically-savvy people...

Friend offers you the loan of his older car (which was kind of starting to make funny noises anyway) while your car is in the shop. Said vehicle has not been cranked (started) in over 6 months. Would you have concerns about the battery being flat or mechanical function/ reliability after so long a time of no use?

I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings or look a gift horse in the mouth but I don't want to end up stranded either.

Look forward to your input. Thanks
