It is 28 degrees here this morning. No snow and is brightening up right now. Yesterday I did not do my laundry so will be doing it today for sure. I have it ready to go downstairs right now. If I can get outside today while I am doing my laundry I will. Need some time out there so might walk to the ATM machine at the bank this morning. Need cash for my son. I like to go there on my mobility chair but depending on how I feel I might try to do it with my walker and see how I do.

No..there's a completely different vibe to the pub on a Sunday..it's mainly groups and families out for lunch... I would feel completely out of place...
Yeah, I get that. There was a place here that put on a great Sunday Brunch. When I had someone to go with it was nice, but there was literally nobody going there without at least one friend.

I did a lot of sleeping today. It seems that my weird sleep schedule is changing yet again! Before my second nap, I Swiffered the bedroom and walk in closet floors, straightened up and dusted in there. I never did have breakfast because I woke up so late. Brunch was a half salmon salad sandwich and sugar free drink. After that I fell asleep again and didn't wake up until 8 p.m. I really do think it's one of my meds.
Have you always been a day sleeper and night owl?

Scanning today's news on the Internet, I read one article that really made me thinking.

"Loneliness, said Buettner, is a top risk factor for a shorter life, so preventing that as much as we can could help add years to our lives"

"The “power of positive thinking” is known to be beneficial to a person’s overall mental health. However, previous research shows that a positive attitude may even help a person live longer."

"And research published in May 2023 showed that frequent participation in social activity [seniorforums] was significantly associated with prolonged overall survival in older adults."

"Regular exercise can also help you live longer. A study published in August 2022 found that light or moderate to vigorous physical activity were both associated with a lower risk of mortality in older women, while higher sedentary ... [life] increased their mortality risk."

What to know about the Blue Zone diet and other healthy habits for longevity Longevity: What lifestyle habits could help you live to 100?

Still enjoying my time with this wascally wabbit of an adorable puppy, but he's cured me of considering another puppy myself. Taking him out at least once EVERY waking hour to house break him, checking to make sure that he's chewing on chew toys and not furniture, taking him for a 3:00 AM potty run (last night was my turn), etc, is losing its luster.

Going to be nice today - 67°F (19°C) for a high. California isn't affected by the punishing arctic blast most of the US and Canada are experiencing. Hope those affected are warm and mostly able to stay out of the weather.

Yesterday's plans to return to the cookbook update were scuttled by a problem with email client software (Thunderbird) suddenly not playing nicely with my business email account and a junk hotmail account, so I spent half the day sorting that out. Wasted a few hours trying to move everything to Outlook before remembering why I opted against using it years ago. Ugh... what a terrible program. (Outlook is included in the MS Office 2016 package I was gifted by a client - it's definitely not something I'd pay for.)

So far it appears the email problem is fixed (yay) so perhaps the cookbook can move back to center stage.

So yesterday, my son and grandson are here. The woman in the apartment next door rings bell, son answers. She's looking for a package delivered to her door, minutes before, while she was at the bank, only it wasn't her door they (UPS) puts it at, they put it at MY door and they sent her a picture of my door with the package at its entrance. This was about 2pm. When my son goes grocery shopping 2 hours later she rings my bell twice more, both times to show me the picture of a parcel in front of my door and to ask am I sure I didn't take it "by mistake."

I told her I never receive packages here, I have them all sent to my son because he has a 24 doorman service and all packages are safe. My building has had many UPS, etc. packages stolen as we have a drug dealer in the bldg--I'm good friends with his mother--and His friends have been stealing. So, I told her, no, we didn't see her package, my son was in and out of the apartment at this time doing errands and he didn't see any package.

SO, she just rings my bell to tell me she is forced to call the cops. ON ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@Pepper, that woman has lost her mind. Yes, the carrier left it in the wrong place and it was stolen by someone. All she needs to do is file a claim with the shipper or Amazon, it is their responsibility to replace it as they left it in the wrong place. They even gave her the proof of their error. The cops are just going to tell her the same thing. They will tell her to leave you alone.

@Pepper All I can say is "WTF?"

It's a balmy 55F here! Big change from when I got up at 4am. It might even get up to 60F today.

NL and I worked our butts off today. The cookie monster was there late yesterday and did a clean sweep of the cookie shelves and tables. He took so many cookies that the extras we keep in the freezer? Had to use them all to replenish! We can't figure out why he doesn't just call ahead and order what he'll need and get a discount in the bargain. Duh. Anyway, I baked cookies and more cookies this morning along with everything else that has to be baked. Whew! Even stayed an extra 30 minutes.

Tomorrow's a day off. If it's warm enough, there are daffodil bulbs that want to be planted so they can bloom in the spring. Spring. Remember spring? It will be here in a mere 65 days.

OMG that is so crazy and a scary thing to happen, did the cops come and talk to you? They ought to talk to the drug dealer guy you mentioned.
Does your building have security cameras anywhere in the hallways (like at elevator and door exits)? Maybe your neighbor could have the bldg management check the security footage.
I hope she gives you flowers or chocolates or something to apologize after she finds her package.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
The cops will not rush, if they even come at all. I intend to suggest to them she is pulling a scam to get another item free.

This bitch once left my mother lying in the street and told no one. So, as my son said, "F her." re: the security cameras. I will in no way aid her quest.

I have daffodils coming up as we speak. Looks like 5 or 6 buds.

Well, just don't tell my life insurance company. :ROFLMAO:

But at least I'm positively thinking that I am staying with just being alone.

Our plans for today changed drastically. We were supposed to go about 2.5 hours north to enjoy a night in Traverse City, MI. I have been watching the MDOT map and traffic is not moving good and some visibility issues due to blowing snow. So we moved our reservation out two weeks. Hope it will be better then.

Good call, man. Snow diving can be fun, but not combined with bitter temperatures even in broad daylight.

Well, I have an unhappy digestive system today. Finally put a couple of biscuits in the oven and will scramble a couple of eggs.

The the best thing to do is go ahead and make a big pot of potato soup for the next couple of days. It is tasty, filling and easy on the stomach.

It is cold here but nice and toasty in the house. The little dogs have decided the best thing to do is stay on my lap or next to me. Not so great when you have a tummy ache. I think I will tuck a heating pad under their blankets so they give me a little space.

Have a great day, stay warm!!
