Atmospheric river pounds California, seen as only the beginning

My son in law was just promoted to superintendent with the power company and Sunday night he got a call from the guy who took his place as foreman on his old crew and he told him "M",I`m getting really nervous about us all being up on this hill.Trees are dropping all around us." Son in law told him "Get off the hill." Sooo many people without power...

My area had a reported 10-1/2" inches from this storm as of 4 pm yesterday, but no damage to speak of. Sewers had already been cleared of debris and the flood control system quickly dispatched the water to the LA River and ultimately the Pacific Ocean.

It's still raining now, but lightly. It's forecast to rain all day with a few breaks, and should clear out in about 18 hours. Next rain isn't expected until Feb 17th, so plenty of time for all of this moisture to soak in.

News footage aside, most Californians weathered this storm with few problems, if any.

Well, after three days of rain, our driveway got a little rock slide. Also our little creek looks now more like a river. Where the creek enters and leaved our property, the fence frequently gets damaged. But no major disaster like others had it unfortunately.

Actually, I built the fence in a manner that it can easily open up with the flow of water. Just held in place with thin wires so animals can't push it open, but the pressure of water and debris opens the fence at the bottom without destroying it.
