Summer is beginning here

Annie, we have lots of rain in the winter, but lovely dry summers, although enough humidity usually remains to keep the air soft, and the plants green. At the moment we are experiencing temps in eighties????wth??

Some like it cool, could never live in Arizona, Florida or Texas. If it stayed in the 70s, partly sunny and breezy all summer, I'd be happy as a clam. I never liked the heat, don't like to sweat unless I'm working out, since I was young.

Our area does not hit the 80s. I remember it just a few times in 15 years. We do get low to mid 70s. But we are wet all year, just more in the winter. This year has been colder than normal. We were in the 60s and sunny on our bike rides last week.

You can see why we will spend the winter in Thailand again.

Mighty darn hot here, too. My neighbor just told me it was expected to hit 100 tomorrow. I was just out walking my dog, and though it is 10:30 PM here, it's still HOT. Very odd - usually it cools down drastically at night, but not today. Bonnie ( my dog) has claimed her place right where the swamp cooler blows right on her and she's laying on her back with her feet in the air enjoying the coolness!

Butterfly, your dog Bonnie sounds adorable. Do you have any pics, by chance?

Thank you -- she is truly a love. I've only had her about 6 weeks (I lost both my elderly dogs within a couple weeks of each other back in March/April). I found her at the Humane Society and she had been there quite a while because she was a big dog, an older girl (us older girls need love, too!) , was mostly black, and was mostly pit bull. She also had a couple medical issues. She was so sweet and tugged at my heart but I wasn't sure I was ready to commit to a new doggie yet. SO, the head of adoptions came over and asked me if I'd be willing to "just foster" her for a couple of weeks because she was just recovering from the removal of a cyst from her neck and would benefit from time in a home. So I said "sure" -- no commitment there, right? Well, that adoptions guy had me pegged, all right -- after having her about two days I went back with her and adopted her for my own.

I'm so glad I did -- she is the sweetest girl, is completely housetrained (I have doggie doors into my backyard), can stay alone in the house while I run non-dog-friendly errands without causing any trouble at all, is a great kisser and is wonderful on the leash and loves everyone she meets. She seems very grateful to have a home where she can be a much-loved inside doggie.

I don't have any pix yet, but I'll get some and will post. I'll try to get one with her upside down and feet in the air -- one of her favorite poses. She is a true blessing.
