Valentines Day - do you celebrate it?

I see some lesbians are promoting Galentines Day, as a day to celebrate their lovers. An other example of a group trying to co-opt a traditional celebration to their own needs. Jimb.

I tried to watch that series but just couldn't like it. It's personal choice but since you like it, I hope you enjoy your evening together. Watching dramas together is lovely.

I wonder what they want? Why they must keep drawing attention to themselves. What people do in private is of no concern surely to anyone else.
 
I always hated Valentines Day. You can't get a cheap gift- you don't love me. But if you spend a bundle, we should be saving money. Buy roses, I should have gotten something that wasn't thrown out in a couple of days. Buy her a blender- you forgot how to be romantic. Take her out to dinner, what's wrong with my cooking? Get her just a card, where's the rest?
And yet, I'm supposed to be thrilled with new underwear.
It's even worse if your not married. You have to exactly match the gift she thinks is appropriate for the level of your relationship.

You spend far too much time with the wrong people. And what's wrong with new underwear? Bet she had a good reason.....
 
As we were growing up Valentine's Day was not much of a thing where I lived. It only became de rigeur when commercialised. As a result Hubby was always opposed it. He was romantic though and would often buy flowers for me on his way home from work.

I do remember people sending anonymous valentines cards and messages when I was about 11 years old. A few of us had a newspaper boy write on a card to one of our friends so that she wouldn't be able to recognise the writing. Unfortunately, she was so thrilled by the card and tried so hard to find out who sent it to her that we didn't have the heart to tell her that it was her friends pranking her.

My favorite way to spend Valentine's Day is at home, enjoying a quiet intimate candlelit dinner for two with lovely soft romantic music playing in the background. A little footsie under the table, a decadent chocolate dessert, and then... ❤️
