Are air fryers worth it!

My husband keeps saying we ought to get one but I am not convinced. They cost a lot and one would take up valuable room on the worktops.
Are they really energy and time saving and does food cooked in them taste good?

They don't cost a lot you can get basic ones for around £30... they're super useful... I rarely ever use my oven now instead using the AF...of course they're a misnomer in that they don't ''fry'' things they Air bake them...so basically anything you can cook on the stove you can cook in the AF.. in 2/3rd of the time...

Mine is a Cosori 5.5 litres..... which cost about £50 if I remember rightly and is plenty big enough for one person..probably would do 2... but not suitable for a family.. but there's plenty bigger options out there... 5 litres would be good enough for 2 people...

I am thinking about buying one but what I would like to know is ....are they hot to handle.?

My little toaster oven also has convection heat which is the same thing but the oven exterior itself does get very hot and with my limited hand strength doesn't get used too much.

No not hot to handle Mizmo not at all.. well of course when you pull the drawer out containing the food, inside is hot as it would ... but the unit and hand doesn't get hot at all...

What I would say is to get one with Digital controls rather than a dial control...the former are much more precise...

They are sooo worth it. YES! We have a double ninja for just the two of us.

Instead of frying food with a lot of oil, you use one tbsp. Besides making potato fries, it’s great for cooking lots of things like spring rolls, chicken fingers, yams etc. I LOVE having air fried yams. They are so delicious.

I highly suggest using it under a fan

I had a tower AF first I wouldn't recommend that brand... Ninja have great reviews but they're Huge and very expensive.. but great for a bigger family. You have to remember that this thing is going to take up counter space.. I would say that it's going to need the space equivalent to the space required for a small Microwave oven..

hollydolly did an excellent job of explaining.
My input since we have one & use it a lot would be the sentiment expressed in this article.

It’s official: Everyone who has an air fryer loves it. The small appliance reaps big rewards, especially when you put it to good use for your favorite recipes. It can make just about anything, from air fryer corn dogs to french fries or air fryer chicken nuggets, roasted vegetables to one of those mouth-watering air fryer chicken recipes, and even healthy air fryer recipes like keto chicken nuggets. And dessert? Don’t sweat the sweet stuff because you can make amazing cakes, tarts and cookies in an air fryer, too.

I bought a small one first of all which was fine for 2 but, we used it so much that I got a bigger one and can cook a chicken or joint in it. The only thing I would say is that the bigger one does emit a lot of steam if it's on, say, 20+ minutes so, be aware of that when deciding where to place the airfryer when it is in use. I don't think I have used my oven since I got the airfryer, mainly because the airfryer cooks faster and everything we have tried in it has come out really nice. The smaller airfryers take up very little space. (y)

I wasn't sure I'd like it or even use it much so a little over a year ago, I read a lot of reviews for different brands and narrowed it down to a Cosori. I didn't want to spend a lot of money if I wasn't going to use/like it and have it end up in a pantry that has the bread machine, waffle iron, etc. that I never use.

It's a 5.8 Qt. size and it was amazing. I used it a LOT when hubby was still here. Not so much now. I have the AF feature on the new oven I got when we remodeled the kitchen. I used it once but found it was too large of a space for small things and making chicken really made a mess even though I did use a drip pan. Anyway, I'd highly recommend an AF for on the top of your counter if you have room for one.

that's interesting to know about the steam because having a smaller one 5 ltrs.. 2 portions size..mine doesn't emit any steam at all

No...but it does make good French toast, lol...I have mine sitting on the counter next to my toaster..on one side, and the microwave on the other side..
