Reflections of My Life

Kat my friend has the same printer only in Black.. I think I remember her telling me the ink cartridges are called EcoTanks.. she said they are very easy to change or refill..

This week I have to search and find a dental office I can get to. I need a dental surgeon to continue the work I needed and did not get done at Wilson Dental in Binghamton. They did x-rays and cleanings knowing that they would refuse to extract the teeth due to my age. They said they do not extract teeth from anyone over 70. Age discrimination!

Plus they are the ones who cancelled appointments so my birthday would come and go. And they knew that was the reason I was coming to them. They were the only ones who took Medicaid. Starting over again......more x-rays and more cleanings I suspect. It is not like I am sickly or anything like that other than the problems I have with walking.

I have not been feeling very good the last couple of days. In fact,, yesterday I stayed in my nightgown all day and mostly was on my recliner watching LA Law. This morning I am feeling a bit better. I think I need to get outside for some fresh air. So I am dong the garbage and going to the ATM machine. In the past when I was sick the one thing that always helped was getting outside.

A new guy is moving in upstairs and he has a bigger than usual U-Haul truck out by the ramp. He left it there all night because there really was no other place to park it. Just glad nobody called the Emergency Squad. They usually pull up to close to the ramp. He is still moving stuff this morning. And a new couple will be moving into another one of the 1-bedroom apartments in a few days too.

I think when I come back from my walk I will make a pot of chicken soup. That is another thing I have always used when I didn't feel good. Now I don't have a cold or anything but am achy and was constipated but I think chicken soup is good for whatever is wrong. Now getting ready for my walk and see how I do.

Woke up to hearing the rain hitting my air conditioner and windows. My friend called me last night to cancel our plan to go to Pine Ridge in Bainbridge (a Mennonite store in our area). She said we were supposed to have bad weather so we will do it another day. That's okay, I don't like to go anywhere if the weather is rainy, windy or snowy. That means I will have to use Instacart to get some bunny food. He is all out. And Friday Sonny is taking me to Walmart but I just did not have enough to make it to then.

This morning I got tired just thinking about my day. Sonny is picking me up this afternoon to take me to do my monthly errands. I am a morning person. Like to get everything done early. Sonny can't come here till the afternoon on a Friday because his aide is there till noon. So every time my son's check day is on a Friday or a Tuesday, I have to wait half the day if Sonny is taking me. If I felt better and it wasn't so cold, I would walk to the post office to get the money orders this morning. But it is very cold so I will wait.

Yesterday my friend told me that one of the other senior living apartment buildings in our city has made their tenants sign a paper that from April 1st they are responsible for all repairs done in their apartments. They have to pay all costs for them. Materials as well as labor. The people that live there are low income and I think it is a HUD building as well. I don't know how they will keep up the building if they do that. Repairs will not be done in an apartment before the problem gets worse because they cannot afford to pay for it.

I would hate it if they ever did that here! The maintenance man recently inspected our apartments and asked if we had anything we wanted fixed or changed. He made a list. I expect he will be working on the list soon. If I had to pay for these things I would probably put it off for awhile.

The thing that would bother me is that the renter will do their own repairs. Often they are not right, and can even be dangerous. They better at least have inspectors of the apartments. I have lived in apartment buildings for lengthy stays. They didn't have a workable maintenance plan. It was a mess. Bath tubs leaking through the floors. Electrical shorts all the time. It can get bad. I hope it stays safe for them, and that your building keeps their mountainous man.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Last year the apartment above me had a leaky hot water heater. It did not affect my apartment though the apartment next door that was empty at that time had part of ceiling come down. They went to show it to someone and found the mess!

My order from Amazon of body wash and body lotion was supposed to be delivered one day last week and then I received a message that it was damaged in transit. Okay. I figured that Amazon would automatically send me out a new package. I waited....and waited and waited. On my account it just was there saying undeliverable. So I finally contacted customer service today. First time in all the years I have ordered from Amazon! I must say it was smooth process. My new order will be here tomorrow and the next day.

I got all my errands done today with Sonny's help. I can't believe he was able to come help me today. He has been and still is in extreme pain. Now he is taking some strong pain medication so that is helping. Got everything done as fast as I could.

Glad I cleaned the bunny cage before I left so when I got home I didn't have to do anything but fix something to eat. I really didn't feel like cooking so I had Keto Chow peanut butter ice cream and small dish of my homemade coleslaw. Now I am having my nightly cup of yogurt and getting ready for bed.

I have always hated night time. Maybe that is why I fall asleep easily, so the night goes by faster.

I must have missed it, did Sonny have his shoulder surgery? I also got errands done today. Follow up at doctor, the new blood pressure medicine is not doing it, 160/100, so new one ordered. That is the only thing I got a bad grade on, LOL, still have to get mammogram and CT chest, since I am a former smoker.

Then on to the grocery store where I like to buy my meat. Did get some strip steaks, bacon, baby back ribs and a bottom round roast that I will slice. I like to use it in different recipes. Of course there were other things that called my name....like croissants. @Georgiagranny, it is your fault for using that emoji all the time. As soon as I got home, slathered one in butter!!

I understand how you feel, it is better to get things done earlier in the day just in case. You are early to bed, early to rise, I am late to bed but I never seem to sleep well. That is why I try to get the must do's for the day asap.

I also hated night time, even as a child. I was afraid of the dark. Since my husband died and my son moved out I have had trouble. I think that is what has my sleep schedule so messed up. These days I think it is all in my head but I still can't get back to normal.

Have a good sleep!!

No, Sonny did not have the shoulder surgery yet. Instead he thought he had kidney problems and went through all types of tests. Nope, it was an infection somewhere else and was preventing him from being able to pee. Had an operation on that and it has not recovered yet. They didn't even do the exact surgery on it like they told him they were doing. He is still living in pain and on pain meds.

This morning I am cooking a whole chicken in the Instant Pot. It is in there now. I usually buy chicken thighs with the skin only. But I am going to save the bones from this chicken to make bone broth. So I will have the chicken meat cut up for a number of meals in the refrigerator. I think this is the first whole chicken I ever cooked in the IP.

I remember my mom buying whole chickens in the grocery store and then she would cut them up to cook. That was the only way they sold them back then. Now you can buy only the parts you like. It makes sense for someone living alone. Who wants to cook something they don't particularly like? Not me.

Even though I don't eat carrots anymore due to their carbs, I do add tiny amounts in recipes. So I bought carrots to add to the broth for flavor. I can give a little pieces of carrots to my bunny but not big pieces. Not good for a bunny's teeth. I will add onion and celery too. So today, my apartment should smell mouthwatering............

Renters are not going to fix the apartments and they are going to fail apart. Plus if they are low income they can’t afford to.

I have security issues because of some bad experiences when young so even with a security system and a big dog I don’t sleep well alone in a house. That’s why I bought a condo in a secure building and now have no trouble sleeping.

I wonder what will come of that idea. As it is now, the tenants there are constantly trying to move here and to other buildings. They have a manager who evicts people for trivial matters. Which is stupid. The cost of a tenant moving out costs the owner of the building a lot of money. They have to clean and repair the apartments. Here they paint and many times replace appliances or bathroom items. So the apartment is empty for months before a new tenant applies and moves in. The application period can take two months or more due to the paperwork.
