Single dose of LSD provides immediate and lasting relief from anxiety, study says

Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes

Any potential therapeutic uses of currently controlled substances like LSD would have to go through rigorous clinical trials, approval processes by drug regulating agencies, and be prescribed/administered in strict medical settings based on evidence-based best practices. Sensationalized media reports about individual studies should be viewed cautiously until much broader scientific consensus emerges. I'd encourage consulting authoritative medical sources for the latest accurate information in this area of research.

So, buy it from a teenager in a parking lot?

I'd give it a try if I could score some without getting caught by law enforcement. I was too uptight and conservative in the 60's and missed out. I'd like to make up for that before I go down for the old permanent dirt nap.
Listen up. A trip lasts 10 or more hours, at least it used to. It is not just a mind trip, but a body trip as well. It is physically exhausting and you should never do it alone. At our ages, it is dangerous. I have a ton of expertise in this matter. I even tripped at Timothy Leary's house.

I think you should not do it. Your ship has sailed.

You speak from a place of wisdom and experience. As soon as I read this topic I thought no way in hell can our senior physiology handle acid, it absolutly wipes you out.

Did you know Art Kleps (Chief Boohoo)?

The dosage and any 'additives' can vary greatly, if bought off the street. Maybe if you score from a younger relative that's dabbled in dosing with Psilocybin mushrooms, might be safer all around. I had extensive experience with psychedelics for about a 5 year period back in the '60s, wouldn't mind doing a recreational trip again, then doing some micro-dosing for mood enhancement. The California legislature passed a law decriminalizing Psilocybin mushrooms, but the governor vetoed the bill.

With my luck, I'd have a bad "trip" (most every dream I have at night is a nightmare or irritating so I figure LSD might be even worse). So no thanks.

I have heard about Psilocybin mushrooms: the gal who wrote a newsletter I used to subscribe to had terminal cancer, lived in Oregon where using the mushrooms was legal with a doctor's ok, and did use them once. She said it really helped; the feeling was slightly euphoric and kind of a "one-with-the-universe" feeling; really reduced her anxiety about dying. It was done at a clinic with a doctor present, though; so that's the only way I'd do it. (I'd really love to find something to even just knock an edge off my anxiety.)
