Recent Amazon Order Signed Me Up For Prime?

@Della That's awful. I hope you can get them returned. I've ordered Skechers and Easy Spirit shoes online without issues. I'm sorry these were not good.

Those prices do change don't they. I went through this with a cat toy I wanted to buy multiples of. Kept bouncing all over the place and I bought when it seemed to go back down to its lowest.
Most times you can go to the manufacture's web site and buy it cheaper, Example amazon.com vs hp.com (/w free shipping).

exactly , and altho' I wasn't going to buy 2 anyway.. it still mattered to me that other people were potentially going to be ripped off. I'm going to keep an eye on that listing to ensure they do remove it, it's still there currently..
I'm sure you are right that people bought the 2 pack, not realizing. Some may have searched for a pack of 2 and never noted the single price. :(

Amazon wants to get me on prime every order I do. But I refuse. I can wait several days. As I was young my father and later me sent the photo slides to a lab for processing. It lasted a week as they came back. No problem at all. Now especially the young people want get all orders at best yesterday. What a nonsense!

I already have Prime so I don't know about this effort, but for their subscriptions, I have never been tricked this way. It is a shame they tried to trick you into this! For folks like us living far from town and needing to shop online a lot, the free shipping in addition to the video makes it worth it.

I was signed up for Simply Piano for a YEAR without my knowledge when I tried their free trial. Four years ago I also tried the free trial so that is probably why. BUT. . . my credit card on file was no longer used so they could not get my money (HA HA). After a few notices I figured out a way to cancel out (It was not easy!) and now they have relented. I was actually thinking of trying this for a month or two but not a year! But thanks to their gorilla marketing I will pass.

Dropped Prime and my Amazon account in May 2023, I use the free shipping over $35 since.

Still waiting for the 'remorse' to set in.

I keep a list of items of interest to watch price drops.
I'm dropping Prime in May when my subscription is up. I don't order much from Amazon since hubby died and I'm on a tight budget now. I can use that $130 more then Bezo's can.

For years I avoided Amazon Prime membership (just waited until I had enough in my cart to qualify for free shipping), but at some point I signed up (intentionally) (I think maybe I got used to the convenience of it after my mom died and I "inherited" --via finding her passwords-- her prime account).

Now I am getting plenty of value from it (free shipping, free photo storage, free prime-video TV) so I like it, BUT, I'm constantly being almost tricked into signing up for their Amazon Audible subscription. I hate that they don't let a person just buy only one audible book. But I found a workaround (don't remember if it was from someone on this board or thru an Internet search) where if I buy a Kindle version then I get offered a discounted price to add the audible version, without having to subscribe to Audible. That has been working well, especially since sometimes I get lucky and the Kindle version is on sale for $1.99.

Make sure you've removed the credit card from the 'Prime Membership' link on your account, otherwise it takes whatever 'default payment method' is listed. Just a good idea to remove all your payment methods prior to the cancellation/renewal date.

We have Amazon deliveries almost daily & live within 30 minutes of their warehouses.
With HS internet and 2 wide screen smart TV's (different brands) Prime and other channels are used frequently.
With Gas $4 and a soccer balls diameter between 75 mph cars its cheap to have home delivery.
I could add the Internet + Cellular are the biggest rip off have to haves, except for property taxes / taxes in general.
Soon the Coin money will be gone and a $10 bill will be the smallest printed. ugh. Few things are $5 anymore.
Maybe ordering shoes / boots are unwise. read the small print on fit in the lower columns__ leave comments?
Just reminded my self to give the Panhandler a $10 next time. Need to get used to that shock also.

Something similar happened to me recently Remy. I placed a digital order for music. On Amazon getting to your download can be quite confusing. Next thing I know it's showing me that I signed up for Amazon Music Unlimited (I think its called). I'm already a Prime member so can listen to music for free. For that reason, I was confused as to why that popped up, but it said I'd be charged X amount after the trial. I went in, right away, found away to cancel it and took a screenshot of the cancellation in case Amazon tries to bill me for the service. You do have to watch what you click and what you don't on that site!

Websites often have certain design features to get you to click or sign up for things you might not want. It's Dark Pattern Theory
I've just read through your link., thank you....I was already aware of all of those.. but then there's even more links within the body of your link..so I've bookmarked those to read later... you really do have to have your wits about you, and another thing is...websites rely on most people using phones to access their sites, knowing that T&C's are tiny on a phone and most people won't read them, this is one of the main reasons I do all my ordering on my desktop Mac where I can see everything..

I agree. I'm not impatient so I get what I ordered when it arrives. From Amazon or anyplace. The only things I do worry about are a Chewy order. I want to be here when the box arrives.

I never had this happen before the order I made last week. It appears you now have to click a spot to opt out or you are automatically opted in? That's what it seems.

I don't have (or care to have) a printer, either
I email the photos to Staples for anything I want printed
Less than a buck for most photos

Any print shop should do
I've also discovered that I don't need a printer and wish I hadn't bought the last one I did. I put them on a USB port and go to Fed Ex. Patterns, craft things. Most I'll do in black and white and they are cheap.

There must have been some button to opt out that I missed. Anyway, I'm glad a noticed it before my "free" 30 day trial was up. I already cancelled or it would have been $14.99 next month. This really ticks me off because I certainly didn't willingly sign up for or want Prime.

Really got to watch those pages and I've noticed it's harder to find that free shipping button than it used to be.
I do like Amazon but they do abuse the 'goodwill' they've built with the customer. Trying to trick customers to inadvertently sign up for Prime smacks of dishonesty, or "slimy" as some have said.
