What have you bought recently?

I spent $9.97 plus tax for fungicide for some of my flowers. Zinnias and phlox are usually plagued by fungus. But it was actual cash. Didn't use my debit card so there's still $$ in my account.

I have been watching videos about grafting roses, and I wanted a little pocket knife to work on the cuttings with. I wanted one that looked like my dad used to carry, and found a nice inexpensive one that should work perfectly for what I need it for.
There are whole schools of art and engineering around pocket folders. I'm no expert, but it seems like many are just "dolly" knives not really cut out for serious use.

They vary by intended purpose as well. I carry this for general use:
Old Timer 9OT Cigar Whittler 6.9in S.S. Traditional Folding Knife with 3in Spear Point Blade and Sawcut Handle for Outdoor, Hunting, Camping and EDC.
Old Timer Cigar.jpg

It's held up 11 years and counting.

But I think we have a few "knife guys" here who could provide more precise matches to your application. Then again, I'm not sure why your selection wouldn't be perfectly adequate.

I believe that my dad carried an Old Timer knife, and I wish that I still had one of his pocket knives, and I would treasure that. I think one or both of my sons probably got my dad’s knives when he passed away, and I know that my first husband had one that my dad gave him, and he still had it when he passed away, too.
So, for me, the look reminds me of the ones I used to see and the people I loved, even if it is not the same make or quality, but Schrade was one of the names I remembered.

Since I am just “playing gardener” and not doing anything anywhere near professional, this will work for me. I have to trim the roses back anyway , and if I can graft some of the nice rose cuttings onto the hardy wildrose rootstock, and any of it takes, i will be more than happy.
Even if it does not work, I am learning in the process, so I am happy either way.

How about what I didn't buy. Went to the farmers market today. A vendor I had noticed when I was off a few Saturdays ago at the Saturday market was there. Their bread looks good but I had already bought some. So seeing them there today, I was going to try their bread. The market starts at 7am, it was at least 715. He told me he wasn't set up and to come back. It wasn't what he said but the way he said it and his tone. I bought bread from someone else. And won't try their bread ever.

Did get strawberries, blueberries, raspberries (1 basket each) and apricots also.

that's precisely what I would have done..and have done in the past.. Never would I line someone's pockets who I felt was being rude to me.

the most recent being a few months ago, when I took my watch to have a new battery inserted. My o/h used to do it for me, but since then I've had to find watch repairer or jewellers.. none of which are near where I live... but I found one in the Mall in the next town,.. from the time I handed the watch over, the sarcasm came thick and fast... I grabbed my brand new watch right out of his hand, and told him in no uncertain terms what I thought of him, and that I would never dream of lining his pockets with my money

I bought some small stud earrngs because I always seem to lose them.

I actually saved a lot of money today! I saw several things I liked but, decided I don't need any of them. Mind you, the chap said I should have bought the white trousers to wear at a couple of events we have been invited to this summer. The trousers are linen-blend so will not crease like linen does. I might end up nipping back tomorrow and getting them because, as I said to the chap, sometimes he is right ;)

@hollydolly Good for you on telling that guy off. I wish I could do that.

Thank you for the support because sometimes I think I'm overly sensitive. I was literally asking about the smaller loaves and instead of answering my question he just said he wasn't set up and come back in 5 minutes. I would say something like 'sorry we got a late start this morning, let me find one of those' after answering a customers question. I just walked away.

Exactly that's all he had to say and you probably would have gone back and bought from him. Instead he lost your sale, and future sales, and likely any sale from people who you might have passed the story onto...

Went to a large discount store and found some Lifesavers. They had a bin of mixed flavours for $1.25. I saw the butterscotch on the counter and grabbed 3 of those. Price ended up being $2.39 each. Oh well. They don’t go bad.

Good morning...it's payday...paycheck has already been transferred to the EF. I hope I can resist the urge to spend today. Yanno, I already spent that $10 on fungicide when I said I wouldn't spend this week. DD is taking me to lunch for her birthday yesterday. The restaurant is just a few doors down from one of the garden centers. Please pray 🙏
