What exercise have you done today?

3 mile walk with neighbor around neighborhood,
46' rowing machine + 31' indoor bike. My legs are a little tired from the rowing.

Tomorrow will be a walk including going up and down the overpass.

There are no hills or buildings with steps close to here, and I was losing the ability to walk well down hills.
So I started doing the overpass on weekends. We avoid it on weekdays due to high school kids zooming down
the sidewalk on their electric bikes. One of them almost hit me head on one day, which would have been a disaster.
Those bikes already were a hazard before they even became electrified. I speak from years of experience.Too bad they don't provide a gadget where one could press a button to shoot off a little buzz to wake them up to people around that have just as much priority (or even more) for access to the shared surroundings.

Take care with that.

I wrote a reply to this email, but I don''t know where it went and where it will show up. As I've been saying it'll be a long, long time before I get it right

Well there it is.

Today is 23 degrees and our walk was fabulous. We found a new walking trail which is part of the Cabot trail. To start with we saw some geese with their little goslings.

The trails are meticulously cared for. We met a few people on the trail and all were very nice and polite.

We walked 5.8 kilometres and half way I stopped to use the washroom and it’s the cleanest outdoor washroom ever. It actually smelled nice. It even has a journal that you can sign so I signed it thanking them for having such a clean washroom.

There was even a stream running parallel with the path so our dogs could get a drink. They don’t like ocean water. Well duh! lol I’m in an insanely good mood. This was such a wonderful walk. We met up with 4 joggers. One woman was probably in her mid sixties.
This is the Atlantic Ocean. It smelled like ocean today.

When we got back to the car we noticed that the trail continued along the other side following the Atlantic Ocean.

Hi Birdy, my son and I measured our community pool, and its south side is exactly 50 meters. So, I always know exactly how far I've swum. My rule is to swim no less than 500 meters and no more than a 1,000.
@ oslooskar 50 meters - nice. Isn't that Olympic size? You have to have some pretty good endurance to swim the length.

Hi Birdy, yes, 50 meters is the length of an Olympic pool. As for endurance, in my opinion, most people tire sooner while swimming than they need to because they are simply not getting enough air. If they are young, I tell them to learn how to properly breathe while swimming. However, if they are elderly, I tell them to learn how to use a snorkel. Mind you, snorkels are not allowed in competitive swimming, but if you just want a really good workout in the pool, they are the way to go.

Post-op exercises after hip replacement a few weeks ago. Had to stop my regular daily routine for a while because of a bad hip, but getting back into it again, thankfully. Also lifting a coffee cup several times a day. It seems to loosen the elbow joint a bit.

Long ago I asked my doctor if a house with stairs was a good idea. He said that by the time I was 80 I might fall and break a hip, but without the stairs I might not make it to 80. I am up and down those stairs at least 10 times a day, so that is helpful, but the wife and I like to go on daily walks, weather permitting.

I do wish I had a loving lady to join me on walks. I miss my ex wives and the things we did together even though the chemistry proved to be too corrosive. I am sensing that as women age their interest in romance diminishes.
