@hollydolly Hiatus hernia? You, too? Knock wood, I haven't had an episode in dogs' years (and don't want to!). One thing I know to never go near is peppermint. I didn't know there are meds that will bring it on.
Right..I'm pleased you said that abut the peppermint, because almost everywhere tells you to use peppermint as something that will ease the symptoms... and I have found exactly the opposite. I love peppermint but that and spearmint are my mortal enemies...

Oh yes there are quite a few meds that work adversely against an HH.. always do your research if you're prescribed a medication you've not had before. For example St John's Wort...terrible for anyone suffering from HH...

Many thanks for all the well wishes for my eye surgery I had yesterday. The surgery went well. I’m still dealing with blurred vision, which will get better. And it will be several weeks before we know how well the surgery helps with my glaucoma pressure.
Most thankful that all the caregiving measures I had to put in place for my mom ( who lives with me) worked out successfully for the last two days.

Er, not that I wear nightgowns.
man to wear a nightgown and a dress ...

Maybe the groomer could come out to the car and carry doggie in. Remind her that you’re a senior (with a bad back). Little doggie will probably be happy to put her leash on and walk back to the car when it’s over.
Yes, Jules one of the larger gals there carried doggie out to the car after her session. No problem! She said dogs can tell when they're being lifted by someone a bit unsteady.

They suggested a ramp which would be perfect!

@dilettante ... I apologize if my response seemed "over the top"
You see, I've been homeless for a short period of my life some decades ago
So a homeless remark concerning unrelated dog treats which you didn't even "like" hit "home"
These days, I help the homeless as I can on an individual basis and have often done so ... because I've been there done that ...
Mention of my homeless experience ... Have you ever been homeless?

I had a drs' appt this morning because I did something to my right foot a couple days ago. It was sore& painful but I iced it,tried to stay off the foot as much as possible, take Aleve
I had no idea what I did, but 2 things I thought caused the problem, the toilet in my bathroom was really low,I had a hard time getting up from it, the washer in my closet,I have to bend down to buy clothes in. I now have an enhanced toilet seat with handles which really helps At times being tall does have disadvantages
I told Diane{nurse practioner who I like a lot} I did all of the packing& unpacking to move here, so I may have hurt the foot doing that. The x-rays showed a sprained ankle which I thought it would. She suggested elevating the foot while sitting{ now using my footstool} take Aleve twice/day with food, continue icing, go for short walks. for next 5 days I told her I've changed my eating habits, the food is really good, she noticed my weight loss,7 lbs since I've been here

Today I've got a lot done without even trying..just pottered really..

I got some more donations for the charity bagged up. I got winter bedding all folded and put away in storage...which is quite a feat because it involves heavy lifting to get them put away under the bed..

I got the laundry done, and put away.. new bath mats down in the bathroom.. and same in the loo... I've had the same 2 sets for the last few years, which get swapped every week while the other gets washed, now 3 ..

I got banking done... and then DD rang and was talking for about 1/2 hour about the latest developments with regard the the soon2bex and the D..

Then I made Jacket potato with grated cheese and beans for dinner.. with bananas and grapes for desert...I rarely eat desert but I did today..

I took a delivery of some plaster so I can fill the crack in the wall in my bedroom which seems to be getting worse..

..now it's 10.15pm..I've just had my shower, and I'm about to go and put the wheelie bin out to the kerb for the collection in the morning...

Got home from work to a “Chewy” box delivered

The thing is, I’ve never ordered anything from them

*and* the shipping address is Las Vegas, NV 😮

Edited: never mind, it was an out-going pkg, my son was returning something he ordered that arrived damaged lol

I shall now retire and keep my mouth shut haha

Got out for a couple of walks. In the afternoon, I could barely push against the wind. It was causing my watch to give loud noise warnings. It didn’t did make the heat easier to deal with.

edited - the wind did help against the heat.

@hollydolly You didn't go anywhere or take any pictures today? What? Seems like you've been a prisoner in your own home for days and days.
well it's only a week since I took the photos in the park and at the river..:D. but this week the weather has been pretty rubbish , so I've stayed home except for a quick jaunt to the supermarket..

I can honestly say I never have. But I grew up poor and all but homeless at times.

I guess it bothers me to see people wring their hands over the plight of the poor while others worship infantilized slave animals to an obscene degree. Buying decent grades of beef as dog food strikes me as obscene.

But maybe that's just my problem.

@dilettante ... my pets and companions aren't slave animals. My dogs are family and treated as such.
Infantilized maybe. It's said their intelligence never expands beyond that of a two year old. Worshiped never. Respected always.
What I find obscene is your censorship of decency toward innocent animals who unlike the plight of the poor, can't change their circumstance.

I've spent most of the last 36 hours at the hospital. My aunt is dying and I'm trying to keep my cousin sane.

One son showed up last night but was "difficult" and wouldn't come back today. The other one flew in today and is being very helpful. He will spend the night at the hospital with his sister. I have come home.

My aunt is "gone" for all practical purposes but won't let go. She's been living in a nursing home and has deep dementia. The past few years have been difficult.

Hospice is taking over and can keep her in the hospital for 48 hours. Then she has to be moved to their facility. I don't think she will last for another 48 hours.

If she makes it through the night, I'll go back tomorrow morning. It's over an hour drive each way and a rough route at night.
