Tech brands are forcing AI into your gadgets—whether you asked for it or not

Yes, I saw that Apple is installing a new AI version of Siri into iPhones. I don't use the current one. You are probably onto something. Tech brands will most likely require that we use AI to do business sometime in the future.

lol. The update to the article says that Logitech will provide a way to disable the AI feature that costs more money to buy.

That's silly. This isn't even an AI feature. It sounds like it's just a shortcut button to ChatGPT. Paying $10 more for that is ridiculous.

I thought I saw a news report that said getting ChatGPT for Apple phones was going to be optional. I didn't pay close attention because I don't have an iPhone. AI will become more prominent in our everyday lives, that's for sure. Smart phone owners are already exposed to AI but this tech usage and applications will encompass more and more.

I may have mentioned this earlier, I recently bought a new Dell and it's jammed with bloatware, including an AI app.

Everyday there is news about how AI is entering the public sphere. It IS a part of modern tech now, and it is not going away. For at least six months I have been experimenting with the free versions of AI that I can experiment with on my computer ( Win 10 ) and a cheap android cell phone. The way this is being rolled out is in the same capitalistic model of how the automobile was rolled out.

Capitalism works because you are enticed to buy stuff by advertising and introduction to "new" and "improved" products. It took years for the automobile to be accepted by the general public. For over 100 years we have been inundated with with inventions of ever sort, covering almost every activity that humans involve themselves in. AI is now becoming part of our everyday life. You will run into it when you don't expect it, or desire it. It will be there.

We need to learn how to use an automobile, and it takes time. It is a very dangerous piece of equipment so we are very careful about how people learn to use them, and we make sure you can operate the equipment before you hit the road. I have witnessed the danger of AI, and know that the best minds are working diligently to put safe guards in place when using it. I think there will monumental fails in it's roll out. I expect many people will reject it because they refuse to try it. If you one does not try it and experiment with it, how can one judge it's usefulness?

People from every profession, including the arts are flocking to it now. They are raving about the possibilities that AI will allow them to explore. I do not think that all these people are stupid or ignorant of the negative side of using this tool. In fact some are right in the middle of law suits surrounding it's use already. Whether you approve or disapprove it is more than likely that AI will be a major contribution to our societies in the near future. It is kind of like dipping your toes into a cold pond before taking the plunge. When one is ready and finds the courage they will get in the water, either very slowly or all of a sudden. :)

@Paco Dennis , I know that AI can quickly scour the Internet and put together written works, can generate images and deep fake videos. If I understand Chatgpt correctly, it's a super duper search feature?
Q: what AI apps or services are there that would benefit the average user?

Lol, I posted the above message from my phone, now when I go to the Facebook app there's tons of AI stuff in my feed. I should be 'impressed' but somehow I'm a bit miffed instead.

They are programming AI to be a super search tool. Right now it is a mess. It makes mistakes all the time. I never trust it's answers. Right now, if you use it as a search tool, and you really want to know the "truth", search for reliable sources for the info you need to know. If it is for fun, or not that important, it is fun to see what they come up with. It can be quite amusing.

Just got your new message. Yep that is how the mega companies are handling this. Push for making you buy more of stuff. Some people like this feature. Not me, but it comes with the territory. I don't think that we will escape the capitalistic onslaught of AI, because we are a profit driven society. As far as following what I like, like soccer, or new music, or news about AI, I do like the AI finding new articles and pics about this stuff.

The average user can benefit from using AI in many different ways right now. I will use Copilot as an example because it is always ready to go when using the browser Edge ( Bing ). I want to know the phone number and address of a business in my area. Now you can just ask ( by voice ) and get an answer. Usually it is right. or I want an general answer to what is the current law in Texas about abortions? The average user can easily get info for a very wide range of subjects.

Now, the average user at a business will find that using AI and having it used on them, is going to be a regular day to day activity. It will benefit them in many ways. It is already taking peoples jobs it is so good. Isn't that nice. :( I really don't know if this is going to be a train wreck, or a new bullet rain. Probably a bit of both.

You seem to have Edge and Bing confused somehow. Those are two separate things. You can easily go to Bing using Chrome for example.

I suspect that if the knowledge isn't typed into the internet, Ai doesn't know it.
The more speak we each one of us give it the more it knows.

Nexamp's local field location, Seri Didn't know, sent me to Boston and Wyoming. A local
Food Mart employee told me. I knew it, just couldn't see it from the high
way due to trees.

He said stop close to the bridge on the side road and you
can catch a glimpse it. Crazy, build a solar field and surround it with high
Trees and Vines! But it has its Rural feel.

Reading, listening to a pack of lies is a great forecast for the future. Wait
for the Advertisement will also jump up to meaningful force with Ai.

Ahh the Competition created between Ai's, just think of the Art. 24 hr. Ear Bud Speak.
Yep, it wants to know if you want to add Google to your ALPHABET of stuff.

:)
You're confusing capitalism with marketing.

Marketing works because people want stuff, people who have stuff want more and better stuff, and everyone wants convenience.

Capitalism works because it allows its people (rather than a central gov't) to do all the inventing, producing, and marketing.

Yes, there have been some notable rulings related to artificial intelligence (AI) by the Supreme Court. Here are a few:

Copyright for AI-Generated Works:
In a ruling by Judge Beryl A. Howell of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, it was determined that AI cannot hold copyright for works it creates entirely without human involvement. The case involved computer scientist Stephen Thaler’s attempt to get a copyright for a piece of visual art titled “A Recent Entrance to Paradise,” which was autonomously created by his AI system called the “Creativity Machine.” The court upheld the principle that human authorship is a bedrock requirement for copyright, and since the machine-created artwork couldn’t be copyrighted, the issue of transferring the copyright was moot.

Similarly, the UK Supreme Court confirmed that an inventor must be a person, and an AI cannot be named as an inventor to secure patent rights.

AI Regulation and the Major Questions Doctrine:
The Supreme Court’s “major questions doctrine” could impact AI regulation. This doctrine nullifies administrative actions that lack clear congressional authorization when dealing with decisions of significant economic and political importance. Any effort by Congress or the White House to regulate AI may be subject to this doctrine.

Remember that these rulings are just a few examples, and the legal landscape around AI continues to evolve. If you have any specific questions or need further information, feel free to ask! 😊

That's what Ai said.

I can easily surmise that with time the judges will get bought out and Ai will be superb being & entitled ! You know they will be following Ai
lists of laws and stuff like that.

Exploring all the possibilities is so tiring right now. Even Ai judges are a logical summation of events to come.... 🦳

They are difficult to unravel :)

Based on the applied critical political-economic analysis, it becomes clear that on the level of capitalism as an economic and societal system, advertising thus contributes economically and ideologically to the stabilisation of the systemic foundations of capitalist societies

This makes me think of all the times companies I do business with have urged me to download their app, and then to download their app on my phone. I don't want to, so I don't.

Not downloading the app usually results in having to wait longer for products and services, seems to confuse the people I do business with, and puts them in a bad mood.

I can see AI doing the same thing....resistance resulting in inconvenience, frustration, and crappy service.

I agree. AI will seem to stream line our inquiries and purchases BUT what it is doing is directing us to the desired result. Each move we make the less chance we have of freedom of choice. This can and will happen. It doesn't have to, but the many tools and forces of capitalism will undemocratize our choices.

Try buying a new car without so many bells n whistles that you need your grandson to teach you how to drive all over again .......!
This is one reason that I hope I never have to buy a new car. So far all my 16 year old Toyota Corolla has needed is new brakes and I hope it continues. I know people driving Toyota’s that are much older than mine.

The term AI is being used so widely that non of us can be sure our own brains are not an AI of some type.
